Proselyte is the physical embodiment of the Indigo Light of Compassion within the Green Lantern mythos of DC Comics. Origins and Nature[]
Proselyte is the living embodiment of the Indigo Light of Compassion, one of the seven entities born from the emotional spectrum at the dawn of sentient life. The Indigo Light was created when the first being in the universe showed compassion to another, and from this act, Proselyte came into existence.
Role During Blackest Night[]
During the Blackest Night event, the Guardians of the Universe sought to find and protect the emotional entities to prevent the destruction of the universe at the hands of Nekron. Proselyte, as the embodiment of compassion, aligned with the Indigo Tribe, who wielded the Indigo Light to combat the Black Lantern Corps.
Possessing Hosts[]
Proselyte has the ability to possess and bond with sentient beings to spread compassion and expand the influence of the Indigo Light. In one instance, Proselyte temporarily possessed a paramedic named Shane Thompson, using him as a host to channel the Indigo Light and convert the suffering of others into a force for healing and compassion.
War of the Emotional Entities[]
During the Brightest Day storyline, Proselyte became a target of Krona, the rogue Guardian, who sought to capture and control the emotional entities to wage war on the Green Lantern Corps and the universe itself. Proselyte was forcibly bonded to one of Krona’s Guardians, who was then transformed into an Indigo Tribe Guardian, using the Indigo Light against the Corps until Krona was defeated and the entities were freed.
Later Appearances[]
Proselyte continues to appear when the balance of compassion is threatened within the universe, aiding the Indigo Tribe and Lantern Corps in cosmic-scale conflicts. As an entity, it rarely speaks, communicating through emotional resonance and visions to those capable of understanding its message.
