The Protagonist is the unseen central main character of 2007 point-and-click horror and adventure flash game Intruder. They are a friend of Sarah, a woman who calls them on Halloween night to ask for help because a man has broke into her and her husband's house, the protagonist sets out to save them both and goes to their rescue.
Intruder[]
After receiving the call, the protagonist goes in car to Sarah and Scott's place, they try to enter the house through the front door but the intruder ends up hearing them and they get out of there before it's too late. The main character goes through the driveway thinking it's more safe, and they wind up on the backyard where the garage is, they find batteries there and then go to the back porch, find a flashlight which they charge with the batteries and enter the house through the back door.
Exploring the house[]
The protagonist starts looking for Sarah and Scott, but none of them is on sight yet. On the laundry room, they accidentaly knock over a can and alert the Intruder, but manage to evade him, there they find a piece of paper with a pin number, only the numbers 10 are legible while the other two are smudged. They go to the kitchen and arm themselves with a kitchen knife, they look the date on the calendar and see that Sarah's birthday was on October, the 20th
While going into the hallway, Sarah and Scott's cat jumpscares the protagonist before getting out the household through the cat door, next to the dining room is the intruder with his back to the main character, they go to the pantry first and find a locked padlock, they remember the piece of memo and the date on the calendar, inputting Sarah's birthday as the password ends up opening the door to the cellar and they restore the electricity.
Lights On[]
After turning on the lights, the intruder is no longer near the dining room, so the protagonist goes there and traverses both the lounge and the hallway, they enter into the office only to find Scott's dead body, the latter's cellphone starts to ring, prompting the intruder to investigate the noise, the protagonist successfully hides from him and sees that there's a new message on the cellphone from Sarah, telling Scott to take the gun that's on his drawer. With the help of the kitchen knife, they pry the drawer open and take the gun with the bullets, and then keep going through the hallway.
The Intruder's silhoutte is seen thanks to the thunder of the storm, indicating that he's inside Rose's room, the protagonist arms themselves with the gun and prepares to confront him.
The Final Showdown[]
The protagonist enters with bravery into Rose's room and aims the gun right at the intruder, they manage to wound him but also get wounded in the progress and fall to the floor, the intruder thinks they are dead and goes to Sam's room, the protagonist is in fact still alive and gets up on their feet again.
Clean shot to the head[]
They go to the intruder again, upon entering Sam's room, they are about to be attacked again but before that happens, a bullet hits the intruder's forehead, defeating him. The protagonist thinks he's dead and finds a key in his hand, the one that unlocks the door to Scott and Sarah's bedroom.
Tense situation[]
The protagonist opens the door where they hope to find Sarah alright, she is there but thinks they are the intruder and aims her gun at the main character.
Fate[]
The fate of the protagonist and their friend Sarah is gonna be determined by making a final choice when she's about to shoot them.
Shoot her first[]
It can be considered like a neutral ending, the protagonist will shoot Sarah on the shoulder before she can shoot them, both survive the ordeal anyway, the game tells the player that Sarah will be a little sore for a few days but that she will make a full recovery, although the emotional scars are going to take a lot more to heal.
Tackle her down[]
It can be considered like the worst ending, the protagonist will tackle Sarah, making her panic even more, during the struggle the main character will accidentally shoot her in the stomach, ultimately killing her and failing his objective of saving their friends.
Let her shoot you[]
It can be considered the best ending that can be obtained, the protagonist will do nothing, Sarah shoots and after some suspense it is revealed the two of them came out unharmed, it can be assumed that she either missed or that the bullet did hit the protagonist but since it was a blank then it did not do much damage or did not hit a vital part of the body.
Plot Twist[]
No matter what ending the player ends up getting, there is a scene that will always play where it it revealed that the intruder didn't die from the gunshots and that he called the protagonist and Sarah (If she is alive), taunting them that he is still alive.
This makes the protagonist and Sarah's fates debatable, whether they survived and escaped or ended up getting killed after the call is answered.
