Can you read this message, my offspring? If so, it means your transformation is complete. I know you're confused, and I'm sorry for that. Because you're not human anymore. Welcome home.
~ The Signer

The Protagonist is the main protagonist of the 2017 video game Megaton Rainfall.

Once a human reincarnated by the Signer as an "interdimensional superbeing", the protagonist is given the duty of protecting humanity from alien invaders and reclaiming a stolen energy source, the Xenospheres.

Powers[]

The protagonist is the second most powerful living entity in the universe below only its creator, the Signer. The very first powers acquired are the ability to fly with enough speed to circle the Earth in seconds and to shoot energy blasts powerful enough to topple skyscrapers with a single misfire, only getting more powerful from there. One of the earliest powers acquirable after the first level is a charged blast that can instantly destroy any ship and, if charged fully, can destroy the entire Earth. Other abilities include stopping time and telekinesis. By the end of the game, you obtain the World Multiplication Ray and the ability to recreate the Earth itself in seconds, eventually enough to fill the entire universe.

Biography[]

Megaton Rainfall begins as you emerge from the Signer's Xenocube in Earth's orbit, where he briefly explains that you aren't human anymore and you have to protect humanity from an imminent extraterrestrial invasion. After some quick practice, the protagonist must fend off the first attack from the intruders with minimal human casualties. From then on the formula repeats of flying to a certain city, fending off intruders while protecting humans, then being rewarded with a new power while the Signer gives light lectures on your and the universe's purpose.

Once the intruders' invasion is over and the human populace is relatively saved, the Signer erases the entire universe save for Earth and gifts the protagonist their final power, then instructing them to use it to duplicate the Earth until there are ten of it. Afterwards, as the credits roll, the universe is shown filling with endless copies of Earth and your purpose is fulfilled.

An optional side-mission is tracking down each of the Signs scattered throughout the universe and uncovering the cosmic knowledge they possess.

Trivia[]

  • The protagonist and the game itself are often compared to Superman for the power set and Doctor Manhattan for the similar physical appearance and themes.
