The Q-Force was a group formed by Captain Qwark with their main goal is to protect the Solana galaxy from Dr. Nefarious and his forces. The group prove useful as they help Ratchet and Clank during their missions in Up Your Arsenal. The team was formerly led by Qwark but after being re-formed it was led by Ratchet.

History[]

Up Your Arsenal[]

After Captain Qwark came to terms with regaining his own memory, President Phyronix would assign him as the leader of the team responsible to thwart Nefarious's threat against the Solana Galaxy. The team consisted of Ratchet, Clank, Sasha Phyronix, Al, Skidd McMarx, Skrunch and Helga von Streissenburgen, all with their own roles. Ratchet and Clank dealt with fighting on the frontline, allying with and leading the Galactic Rangers. Captain Qwark dealt with the planning work, and avoiding doing the dirty work where possible. Sasha Phyronix remained in control of the Starship Phoenix, providing Ratchet and Clank with intelligence and communication support. Al used his technological skills to decrypt information on Nefarious. Helga provided training towards Ratchet and Clank in using gadgets. Skrunch would occasionally provide firepower for Ratchet, and assist Clank in overcoming obstacles. Finally, Skidd McMarx, proving to be the least helpful, would accompany Ratchet and Clank during some fights, but hardly participating in the action himself.

Captain Qwark initiated a plan to infiltrate Nefarious's base on Aquatos, with Ratchet, Clank and Skidd fighting their way through the main base. Eventually, they would split up, with Ratchet using the tyhrra-guise to make his way to Nefarious's office, and Clank is joined with Skrunch to sneak through their own way. They would reunite in Nefarious's office, against Qwark's plans, and find an encrypted star map before leaving the planet and bringing it back to the Phoenix.

Nefarious would soon find out about the infiltration, much to his fury, and pledged to have the Q-Force destroyed. Back at the Phoenix, Qwark congratulates the team for the efforts, taking most of the credit to himself. From the decrypted star map, they learn the location of the tyhrranoid base, and Qwark begins to detail his next plan to assault it. Ratchet, Clank and the Galactic Rangers proceed to do so, and are joined by Skrunch to destroy four plasma turrets across the base. Ratchet and Clank then fight and defeat the Momma Tyhrranoid in battle, and Qwark appears afterwards to take all of the credit.

Back at the Phoenix, when Ratchet details his experience, the Q-Force is met by a hologram transmission from Dr. Nefarious and his butler Lawrence, making a threat towards them. Al traced source of the transmission to Planet Daxx, which Ratchet and Clank visited and learned about the Biobliterator, as well as a hint that Courtney Gears was associated with Nefarious. They also learn about a transport vessel heading for the Obani Moons, and Skidd joins them to investigate, to their frustration.

After realizing the final moon was protected by a force-field, Ratchet and Clank proceed to help the Galactic Rangers fight off a tyhrranoid invasion on Blackwater City, and meet up with Courtney Gears to interrogate her. When she makes a deal with Clank to star in his holovision show, he is kidnapped and replaced with Klunk, and Skidd is also kidnapped and transformed into a robot. Using the information Klunk provided, Qwark and Skrunch join in infiltrating Nefarious's star cruiser, which was revealed to be a trap, and Nefarious and Lawrence escape after a confrontation. Qwark proceeds to retrieve a data disk on Nefarious's desk, but does not make it out with the others. He is believed to have died in the explosion, but in reality he escaped through a pod, unknown to the rest of the Q-Force. At the Phoenix, they host his funeral, and after playing the fourth Qwark vid-comic, they deduce that Nefarious's next attack must be on Metropolis. Here, Ratchet confronts Nefarious, who taunts him over Qwark's death, and realizes that he had been deceived by an impostor of Clank. When Nefarious teleports away, Ratchet battles against Klunk before rescuing the real Clank, and swears to make Nefarious pay for the damage he has done.

As Ratchet and Clank arrive at the Phoenix, they see that the damage caused by the Biobliterator is covered on the news. The Q-Force are worried that Nefarious has already won, but continue to fight. Sasha recalls that Qwark headed for a data disk, and Ratchet and Clank head to Zeldrin to investigate the crash site, where they find the disk and discover that Qwark is still alive. The duo once again assists the Galactic Rangers against the tyhrranoid forces on Aridia, and on the Phoenix, Al discovers that it is possible to change Skidd back into his organic form, reversing the Bioblierator's transformation. Through the final Qwark vid-comic, there is a hint of a hideout Qwark is using, and they head there. Skrunch comes with Ratchet and Clank, and they confront Qwark on his cowardice. Clank suggests that there is an opportunity for him to be the hero he wishes, seemingly motivating him to come back.

Meanwhile, the Starship Phoenix has been assaulted by Nefarious's troops, forcing the rest of the Q-Force to hide inside the cabin until they are rescued by Ratchet and Clank. Al had partially cracked the data disk, which detailed the order of planets that Nefarious planned to use the Biobliterator on, and that it was currently located on Koros. They head there and succeed in destroying it, but Sasha reveals that after Al fully cracked the disk, Nefarious had built a second Biobliterator located on Mylon. Ratchet and Clank confront Nefarious, and are joined by the Galactic Rangers to fight off his army. Nefarious turned the Biobliterator into a giant mech, and uses it to fight against them. Here, Qwark joins in his own combat ship, and together, they take down the Biobliterator for good, putting an end to the threat for the time.

Full Frontal Assault[]

The Q-Force remained dismantled up until Qwark lost his re-election for Galactic President, and he, Ratchet and Clank would operate the Starship Phoenix II. Qwark was rather discontent with his life at this point, having not much to keep him busy. A former fan, Stuart Zurgo, who is in disguise, catches onto this and transmits a masked hologram to them. He gives Qwark something to do, by deactivating the planetary defense centers on three planets, compromising their safety, and sending grungarian marauders to attack. Qwark deemed this the perfect time to re-assemble the Q-Force, with the three heroes being the only remnants.

They start off by fighting on the Korgon Refinery, located on Markazia. When they are successful in repelling the attack, they are greeted by Zurgo once more, who reveals his identity, and is instantly recognized by the three. Zurgo explains his motive for vengeance against Qwark over his false heroic persona, and for all of the scandals he has been involved in and gotten away with. Similarly, they fight on Hidden City of Balkai on Ebaro to defend it. Later on, they find Zurgo back at the Korgon Refinery after once more, who is disguised as the Plumber, over a distress call to have his ship repaired. When Ratchet does so, he grows suspicious, and orders everyone to head back to the Phoenix. Immediately, Zurgo reveals that he did indeed deceive them, and that he hacked into the Phoenix to steal a key to Qwark's weather device to have him framed for a snowstorm at the Hidden City of Balkai. The heroes destroy the weather beacons, and confront Zurgo directly, who is in a giant Qwark mech suit. Here, they defeat and arrest Zurgo, ending his threat.

Trivia[]

  • The logo resembles a "Q," the first letter in the Q-Force. It is also nearly identical to the logo on Qwark's front, even before the Q-Force was first established, and while it did not exist.
  • Although Qwark said they were chosen for their own skills, Skidd, Helga, and even Qwark's roles were inaccurate.
  • The PAL release of Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault is named Ratchet & Clank: QForce.
  • In Up Your Arsenal, the Q-Force appears to have a series of shuttles for use by its members. One is seen on Aquatos during the mission when you work together with Skidd McMarx and another is seen being piloted by Qwark himself when he arrives to help Ratchet in the final battle with the Biobliterator.
    • They are the characteristic green color of the Q-Force and are roughly ovoid-shaped with two back-swept wings on each side armed with laser cannons and one dorsal fin that extends from the hull directly aft of the cockpit. There is one visible engine at the back of the ship.
