“ | Since we first met, I have had a warm feeling inside. Not the kind of warmth that makes me feel rotten and disgusting and closer to death. The other kind of warmth. The one that happens inside my heart. Thank you. I am happy. Sadly I only recognize the current you. If I forget you... No. I will order myself to remember you. | „ |
~ Qiqi. |
Qiqi (sacred name Fortune Preserver), also known as the Maiden of Resurrection, is a supporting playable character in the 2020 action role-playing fantasy video game Genshin Impact.
She is a zombie who used to be a human girl but, after dying, was resurrected by the adepti, and has been left in Baizhu's care ever since. She currently works at Bubu Pharmacy in Liyue Harbor.
Qiqi is voiced by Christie Cate in English and by Yukari Tamura in Japanese. Tamura has also voiced Rika Furude from Higurashi: When They Cry, Tenten from the Naruto series, Elizabeth Midford from Black Butler, Nanoha Takamachi from Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, among others. She is voiced by Yanning in Chinese along with Noelle and Lumine in the same game.
Appearance[]
Qiqi has light purple hair reaching her shoulders at the sides with a long plait in the back, pale skin, and magenta colored eyes. Her fingernails are black. Qiqi usually wears purple themed clothing and has several talismans stuck on her. Her attire consists of a purple frock and a deep purple beret with a red-purple (magenta) tassel on top and her Cryo Vision embedded on the side. She wears a pair of simple earrings; one black and one white. She also wears black heels and white stockings that are wrapped in mummy-like bandages.
Personality[]
Qiqi has a quiet, yet polite nature when attending with customers at the pharmacy. Being a zombie, she has trouble retaining memories and can quickly forget about people if she doesn't continually reinforce herself with an impression of them, using her Vision to protect those she holds dear. Due to her undead status, Qiqi has a relatively flat voice and is unable to convey most of her emotions to others, nor does she have a particularly strong sense of smell. She prefers cold weather, as the heat reminds her of death and her flesh begins to decay if she stays too long in such places.
Although zombies have to be issued orders when awoken, because Qiqi had the ability to do so herself, she is a rare example that has to give herself orders in order to perform her duties. These duties cannot be canceled and she must either finish the task or be forced to cancel it by hugging her with enough sincerity. She takes her duties seriously, carrying a notebook in which she details everything she needs to do for the day, which also serves as a reminder in case she forgets something (due to her poor memory as a result of her zombification). She also strives to improve herself so she becomes less forgetful. On particularly foul days however, she may forget to check on her notebook.
While she's generally friendly and easily for others to get along with (and vice versa), she loses it whenever Hu Tao comes or is mentioned, remarking that she has a "punchable face" and completely and utterly despises her. Even expressing an intent to throw the director into the fridge due to her insistence on sealing her away. Even after giving her an exception and pampering her, Qiqi still holds a grudge towards Hu Tao. While she usually forgets about her boss on an infrequent basis and is aware that he has ulterior motives with her, she does not mind remaining under his employment because she treasures his concern over her.
Synopsis[]
Qiqi was a human child from the nation of Liyue who once wandered into the territory of the Adepti (the secluded divine beings responsible for the protection of the nation) while herb-picking. Unfortunately, she sustained an injury to her leg after a fall and was forced to hide in a cave to rest and treat her wound. The young girl heard inhuman noises and crashes from outside the cave, and began to lament that she wished she could see her family again and stop time from ticking forward. Recognizing her wish, the gods decided to bestow a Cryo Vision that would allow Qiqi to channel Cryo elemental energy in her final moments.
The Vision from the gods was ultimately futile, however, as Qiqi passed away. The Adepti sympathized with Qiqi, and thus each imparted a part of their Adepti energy into the child's corpse. With the power bequeathed to her, Qiqi was reborn as a zombie and received the sacred name "Fortune Preserver" to befit her new station as an Adeptus. However, the Adepti energy that flowed through her was too much for the young girl to handle, and she subsequently flew into a berserk state and began rampaging across the land. Mountain Shaper, one of the Adepti, recognized that Qiqi had to be stopped, and so reluctantly sealed her in amber.
