Queen Sarai

Queen Sarai was the late mother of Callum and Ezran and a posthumous protagonist in the Netflix Show, The Dragon Prince. She was killed by Avizandum (Aka Thunder) during the quest to retrieve the heart of a Magma Titan to end the 7 year famine in the kingdom of Duren (an allied nation to Katolis).

She was voiced by Kazumi Evans, who also voiced Harmony, Skipper Roberts, and Rouge the Bat.

Biography[]

Sometime before she married Harrow, Sarai was married to another man who begot Callum. A few years after Callum's birth, Sarai's original husband died from unknown causes. She then fell in love with Prince Harrow and together they got married and Sarai became pregnant with Harrow's only child, Prince Ezran.

According to Opeli, Sarai and Amaya also trained the army of Katolis and turned it into the strongest and most well trained military force in the Human Kingdoms.

When Ezran was almost a year old, The Queens of Duren came to Katolis to get help from Harrow who was now King. The two Queens had been going through a 7 year famine and wanted Harrow to help them with their food scarcity.

Harrow agreed to help them with the famine by agreeing to share some of Katolisis food despite knowing full well that the amount Katolis is giving Duren combine with it being winter would starve many Katolians. In order to save Katolis and Duren from starvation, Viren suggests to Harrow that he lead and expedition party to Xadia to kill a Magma Titan for it's Heart.

Viren would be able to use the Titan's heart in order to terraform the two Kingdoms' climate into a fertile landscape. While Harrow was okay with this idea Sarai objected since she believed that the use of Dark Magic doesn't make killing a creature a necessary evil even if it would save thousands of human lives as Sarai believed that dark magic was too easy solution. When Harrow refused to take her advice Sarai reluctantly agreed to join Harrow as a member of an expedition knowing that if she stays behind, Harrow would kill the magma titan anyway.

Sarai then goes to Xadia to find the magma titan alongside her husband and allies, but find it presumably dead, so Amaya tried to open its chest to remove the heart of the magma titan, but it awakens and attempts to them, after a long fight, Sarai delivers the finishing blow and they are able to retrieve the magma titan's heart.

After Harrow decided to not leave the soldiers wounded soldiers behind, they try to go to the border between Xadia and the human kingdoms to avoid getting killed by Thunder. However, Thunder finds them crossing the border and attempts to kill them, so the queens of Duren decide to fight against Thunder while the rest escaped, but Viren decided to help them, although he failed.

Understanding that Viren was needed for the spell to work and that he was in trouble, Sarai goes to save Viren, dying while doing so. After the kingdom was saved thanks to the queens' sacrifices, they would make statues in their memories.

Despite the era of peace that was happening, Harrow and Viren would go to hate Avizandum due to killing Sarai, and later created a plan to use a spear to kill Azivandum. Before Harrow killed the dragon, Sarai used her last breath that Viren kept for years to use it as a spell against Azivandum to beg for her husband to not take revenge, although he doesn't listen and kills him anyway.

Sarai would appear as a posthumous halucination during Callum's dream after he used dark magic to save Rayla and a dragon, and told Callum that he needed to calm down and says to him that his destiny is chosen by him and only him, and that he can decide it, causing Callum to awake and motivating him to learn magic on his own.
