Quickswitch is a character from Generation One of the Transformers franchise, based on a figure from the 1988 toyline. He is noted for being a Six Changer with six separate modes: Robot, puma, jet, drill machine, hovercraft and laser pistol.

Biography[]

Marvel Comics[]

Quickswitch made his only appearance in the UK-exclusive story "Out to Lunch". The story depicts him as one of the Autobots on Cybertron, who has arranged to meet a Decepticon informant at the famous Maccadams Old Oil House. The bar used to be neutral until the new Decepticon commander Thunderwing brought in new regulations.

Before Quickswitch's informant turned up, two Mecannibals arrived, searching for their long-term quarry, Decepticon Powermasters Dreadwind and Darkwing. Unwilling to let the patrons be slaughtered by the robot-eating aliens, Quickswitch chose to challenge the Mecannibals. He first tackled them in puma mode, before firing on them with his laser pistol. Fleeing the bar, he then used his drill mode to take out the support, causing the building to collapse on the Mecannibals.

Ladybird Books[]

One of Quickswitch's few other major appearances came in the Ladybird Books novel Decepticons Underground. Here, he is depicted as serving under Optimus Prime on Nebulos. Disturbed by the lack of news of the Decepticons, Optimus Prime narrows down the only place they can be: The Nebulos Triangle, an area where electromagnetism behaves in strange ways. Quickswitch was despatched to search the area with Quickmix and Scoop.

Encountering a large lake, Quickswitch attempted to cross it in hovercraft mode but was dragged down through a whirlpool. Exploring in his puma and drill modes, he discovered the Decepticons' underground base. He was pursued by them to the surface where he met up with Quickmix and Scoop again, holding the Decepticons at bay until the tunnel could be blocked with a combination of rocks and fast-drying cement, sealing the Decepticons underground.
