Rachel is a supporting character in the Sonic the Hedgehog film series. She is Maddie Wachowski’s sister, the mother of JoJo, Tom Wachowski’s sister-in-law and even the adoptive aunt of Sonic the Hedgehog.
She is portrayed by Natasha Rothwell, who also portrayed Piper Benz in Wonka and also voiced Sakina in Wish.
Personality[]
Rachel is a very dignified and down-to-earth, albeit somewhat narcissistic woman who doesn't like people lying to them and prefers to handle things legally, as shown when she threatened to call the police about Tom when he didn't explain why he was wanted by the government. She also doesn't like Tom and she always bothers Maddie to divorce him. Despite this, she is willing to help her sister Maddie free them from the G.U.N when they capture them. She gets angry easily and is irritable. When she is pushed over the edge, Rachel is particularly impulsive and exceptionally loud, as well as not afraid to take matters into her own hands, even during her moments of extreme emotional vulnerability and sadness.

History[]
Sonic the Hedgehog[]
Rachel first appears drawing with her daughter, Jojo while overhearing her younger sister Maddie calling Tom, who asks her if she convinced her to leave him there. After the call, Rachel spells the words divorce to Maddie.
Later, when Tom arrives to San Francisco carrying an unconscious blue anthropomorphic hedgehog named Sonic, Rachel tries to push him out of her house, but Maddie intervenes and lets him in, Rachel threatens Tom to taking him to custody, but when his and Maddie's dog Ozzie pulls the rug that Tom carries, he accidentally reveals Sonic, much to Rachel's shock and passes out.
Tom and Maddie tie up Rachel in the couch to prevent her from intervene on the matter with Sonic while asking Jojo to untie her, but to no avail. She then proceeds on roasting Tom about that Sonic is an alien, but he and Maddie leave, much to Rachel's dismay.
Near the end of the film, she is still tied up on the couch, while Jojo runs around, trying to reach Sonic's speed.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]
Rachel returns in the sequel with an expanded role. In here, she is the fiancé of Randall Handel, and are set to be married in Hawaii, Tom and Maddie visit them after leaving Sonic and Ozzie home alone, Rachel gleefully greets Tom and hugs him, but secretly threatens to end him if he ever ruins the wedding, much to his shock.
In Rachel and Randall's wedding, they are about to put their rings, but this is interrupted by Tom's phone, Tom leaves to answer and the caller is Sonic, who is in Siberia in a mission, Tom uses the ring he gave him to teleport him to Hawaii, but discovers that he accidentally swapped the rings, and Randall has Tom's ring, he runs to the altar, and tries to persuade Randall on giving him the ring, but he refuses and Rachel orders him to put it on her finger, but Tom punches Randall on the face and gets the ring and uses it to open a portal, letting Sonic come out from it.
When Sonic reveals that Dr. Robotnik returned to Earth, he is worried for Tails, an anthropomorphic fox who came to help him, and they are both taken away, Randall reveals to Rachel that he is a G.U.N agent, she enters in a hysteric state, and Randall takes Tom away. Maddie and Rachel then sneakily follow them to rescue them, and they break into the hotel and defeat several guards using Tails' weaponry. While Maddie carries on, Rachel angrily confronts Randall about the fake wedding, but G.U.N leader, Commander Walters, tries to shoot her with a stun gun, but Randall defends her by jumping in the way, Rachel takes out a small weapon, and shoots it to a cake, revealing it to be lethal, and Walters quickly surrenders, Randall then reveals to Rachel that he always had true feelings towards her, and they reconcile.

Trivia[]
- In a deleted scene, it is shown that the tow truck returned to her house, and she calls the police to try to get Tom. She ends up getting Wade on the other end of the call instead. After Wade flirts with Rachel a little bit, Rachel then sets up a date for Wade to "come find her" and hangs up the phone. In this same scene, Rachel reveals she is divorced.
