~ Raiden feeling happy that he finally can give everything he got for sumo wrestling during Ragnarok |
Tarokichi Seki, better known as Raiden Tameemon, is a supporting character in the action manga and anime series Record of Ragnarok, serving as the main protagonist of the fifth round of Ragnarok.
Raiden was a Japanese sumo wrestler known as "The Peerless Rikishi" due to his incredible strength. After his death, Raiden was chosen as one of Humanity's representatives in the fight against the Gods to save Humanity from extermination, where he fought Shiva as the Gods' representative.
He was voiced by Subaru Kimura in the Japanese dub of the anime, while in the English dub, he was voiced by Michael Schwalbe.
Appearance[]
Unlike his historical appearance, Raiden Tameemon is a physically imposing man, he is seen towering above Brunhilde and Göll, even when sitting down. His hands are so big they easily cover up the hand plates of other sumo wrestlers and are covered in scars from intense training. Raiden's hair is dark brown with white highlights strung throughout it and tied into a ponytail. His eyebrows are sharp and distinguished.
When introduced, he is naked. But prior to the fifth match, he receives his Völundr. The Völundr seems to adorn him in a set of tattoos, with black arm and leg bands that go around his wrists, elbows, ankles, and kneecaps (these ones being colored blue) and a large blue sumo belt around his waist.
Personality[]
Raiden is a perverted and lustful man when it comes to women, as seen when he sleeps naked with many naked women and also eagerly pounces on Brunhilde and Göll thinking they came to make out with him. When in battle, Raiden always takes it seriously, ignoring Shiva's many statements about fighting being fun, to which he questions the God how he thinks fighting is fun, showing that Raiden's motivations for fighting are very different from Shiva's.
As a child, Raiden was viewed a monster by the other children due to his dangerous powers, which caused him to be shunned. This led him to depression and wondering why the Gods made him a freak. Fortunately, thanks to his mother's encouragement to use his powers for good, Raiden was motivated to help people. This was most evident when the Great Tenmei Famine caused his fellow villagers to starve to death, Raiden decided to become a sumo wrestler to support his village. In his early sumo training, Raiden was reluctant to hurt his opponents. However, at the urging of Kajinosuke Tanikaze, Raiden became more willing to fight his opponents and dedicated himself to wrestling as hard as he could. However, he quickly became bored as no one could withstand his strength.
Initially, Raiden considered Shiva nothing but a contemptible opponent, as he was puzzled by Shiva's statement about fighting just for fun. However, as the fifth round progressed, Raiden came to respect the God of Destruction for giving him a good fight that required Raiden to use all his strength. When he was finally defeated, Raiden thanked Shiva for giving him everything he had for sumo. Raiden also loved the Valkyrie Thrud since they first met for völundr. In his final moments, Raiden asked Thrud to leave him so that she would not die with him. However, when Thrud refused because she promised not to leave the man she loved, Raiden was touched and held her hand at her statement.
