Raven BBc
Let the challenge...begin.
~ Raven's signature catchphrase.

The Raven is the titular hero in the original run of cult CBBC game show Raven, as well as its three spinoffs: Raven: The Island, Raven: The Secret Temple and Raven: The Dragon's Eye. He is an enigmatic warlord who guides the warriors who participate in the game show, and seeks to rid his land of the vile Nevar and his Demons.

He is played by James Mackenzie.

Early life[]

Raven was born on the mythical island of Alaunus. His closest childhood friend was Princess Erina, daughter of the King and Queen of Alaunus. Other than this, next to nothing is known of his early life, though some believe that he was once a thief, before receiving his powers.

Appearances[]

The first tournament[]

When first introduced, Raven is shown to be completely different from the persona that is later associated with him. Here, he is shown to be completely laid-back, funny and generally lighthearted.

Subsequent tournaments[]

After the rise of his archnemesis Nevar, and the Demons that serve him, Raven underwent a massive transformation. He is shown to be extremely deadpan, serious, and possessing a sarcastic sense of humour, that usually reared its head whenever a warrior failed abysmally in a certain challenge. His costume is changed; he now sports shoulder pads made of black feathers, a silver brooch shaped like a raven's foot, and he now sports a black moustache and beard, as well as carrying his signature staff of power.

Powers[]

  • Hinted immortality - at several points, Raven hints that he is immortal, though this has never been confirmed or denied.
  • Shapeshifting - he possesses the power to change his appearance, though this is seemingly between being a human and a raven (similar to an Animagus from Harry Potter)
  • Telepathy - he can read the minds of his warriors.
  • Restoration - if a warrior fails in a challenge, he can resurrect them, at the cost of a life.
  • Lightning - with his staff of power, he can shoot blasts of lightning from the eyes of it, which can variously restore warriors, open doors, destroy Demons and generate portals.
