Biography[]
Early Life[]
Raymond Eugene Kenny was born on July 18, 1961, in the Southern United States. From a young age, he was captivated by computers, sparking a strong interest in hacking and software engineering as he grew older. His expertise led him to work at the Blume Corporation, where he became a key architect in developing the ctOS system. As he delved into ctOS's inner workings, Raymond began to realize its potential for immense control over individuals' lives, raising concerns about privacy. This realization prompted him to transition from a ctOS architect to a hacktivist, aiming to expose the system's dangers. This early chapter in his life shaped his future path, laying the foundation for his involvement in hacktivist groups.
2003 Northeast Blackout[]
In 2003, T-Bone played a significant role in a critical event known as the Northeast Blackout. As a former Blume Corporation employee, he had intricate knowledge of the ctOS system, an advanced technology that controlled various city infrastructure systems. In an attempt to showcase the vulnerabilities and potential dangers of centralizing control within a single system, Kenny hacked into the ctOS network, triggering a massive blackout that affected the entire northeastern United States.
However, the consequences of his action were severe and unintended. The blackout led to the accidental deaths of eleven individuals due to disrupted services and chaos that ensued. This event marked a turning point in Kenny's life, filling him with deep remorse and guilt for the unintended loss of life. The incident not only shattered his faith in the system he once helped build but also drove him to "go off the grid," adopting a new identity as T-Bone and retreating from the world as he grappled with the emotional weight of his actions.
Watch Dogs[]
Alliance with Aiden Pearce[]
Residing in the Chicago countryside, T-Bone was discovered by Aiden Pearce, who convinced him to hack into ctOS and upload a virus to erase his presence from the system. When Damien exposed T-Bone's location to Blume, he was compelled to flee his home. Aiden, dealing with the Pawnee Militia Contractors hired by Blume, ultimately eliminated them. With Blume now aware of his whereabouts, T-Bone resorted to detonating his own home to eliminate any evidence.
Aiden brought T-Bone to an abandoned CTOS test site, known as the Bunker, on a secluded island. Aiden sought T-Bone's assistance in decrypting sensitive data, meant for trading to secure his sister's safety. Together, they assaulted the Rossi-Fremont, recovering vital information. However, they were ambushed by Defalt, who stole the data but could be traced. Defalt exposed Clara Lille's betrayal, leading to a dangerous sequence of events for Aiden and T-Bone.
Uncovering Blackmail and Leaving Chicago[]
T-Bone ventured to Defalt's apartment to uncover his location, but fixers soon pursued them. With Aiden's support, T-Bone narrowly escaped. As data download revealed massive blackmail, including Blume's manipulation of elections using Bellwether, Aiden rescued his sister and revealed Lucky Quinn's role in orchestrating the hit on Aiden. T-Bone, packing to flee as fixers closed in, urged Aiden to destroy the dangerous Bellwether code and escape Chicago's impending chaos.
As blackmail data was exposed, Damien gained control of ctOS, causing mayhem. T-Bone informed Aiden of a weak point in ctOS, obstructed by Damien. In a desperate bid, T-Bone shared a method to disable the firewall, causing a citywide blackout. Aiden raced against time to install the virus, evading pursuing law enforcement. The story highlighted T-Bone's crucial role in Aiden's mission, his expertise pivotal in unearthing Blume's corruption and averting the city's digital disaster.
Bad Blood DLC[]
A year later, T-Bone's belief that his hacking endeavors were behind him was shattered when Tobias Frewer sought his help after being kidnapped by Fixers. Rescuing Frewer from their clutches, T-Bone grasped the threat looming over him – if Fixers could locate Frewer, he was not safe either. Determined to outmaneuver their pursuers, T-Bone embarked on a mission to shake off their trail. In an uneasy alliance, he exploited Frewer's knowledge. Concurrently, T-Bone engaged with various gangs while shielding Aiden from impending danger, given the bounty placed on Aiden's life by Blume.
Final Showdown and Redemption[]
Returning to his stronghold, T-Bone discovered its security compromised. With Frewer's support, they protected it against Fixers' assault. Tracing Defalt's hideout and navigating through a maze, T-Bone faced a room filled with monitors displaying victims of the Blackout. A grim choice emerged, with Defalt orchestrating a vote to determine T-Bone's fate. Defalt released lethal gas into T-Bone's chamber, setting the stage for a last-minute intervention by Frewer, who diverted the gas and enabled T-Bone to reconfigure the situation, saving himself and eliminating Defalt.
Renewed Purpose[]
Surviving the ordeal, T-Bone found renewed determination with Frewer's conviction to stay in Chicago and fight Blume's corruption. Overcoming initial doubts, they contemplated recruiting Aiden into their mission, aiming to fill the void left by the late Rose Washington. Amidst shared drinks and newfound camaraderie, T-Bone's reluctance to embrace change softened, symbolized by his newfound appreciation for a burger. As they contemplated the horizon, a sense of unity and purpose emerged, underlining T-Bone's journey from isolation to redemption, and his forging of unanticipated alliances.
Watch Dogs 2[]
Three years following Aiden Pearce's disruption of Chicago's ctOS system, the tech giant Blume introduces an upgraded version called CTOS 2.0 in San Francisco. T-Bone and Frewer participate in Swelter Skelter, an event uniting various hacking groups for challenges. T-Bone's intricate puzzle attracts Dedsec members, including Marcus Holloway. During an inebriated conversation, Marcus recounts his past, and T-Bone divulges his intent to dismantle Blume, ultimately aligning with Dedsec's mission against the tech corporation. Amid this, T-Bone's escapade leaves Frewer alone in the desert, a realization that dawns on him later.
Joining the Ranks of Dedsec[]
Upon their return to Dedsec's hackerspace, tensions arise due to T-Bone's unannounced presence. Marcus's allies initially question T-Bone's motives and Dedsec's consensus-based decision-making process. However, after learning T-Bone's identity and recognizing his potential contribution, they accept his involvement in their crusade against Blume.
T-Bone's integration into Dedsec is marked by initial friction. Suspicions arise, with Sitara suspecting T-Bone's ulterior motives. Tensions escalate when a disagreement with Wrench jeopardizes Marcus's camaraderie. A dispute over a stolen tech piece, Wrench Jr., almost fractures Wrench's bond with Marcus. Despite these challenges, T-Bone, along with Sitara, Wrench, and Josh, contributes to the team's mission, aiding Marcus in retaliating against the Tezcas who murdered Horatio. T-Bone acknowledges Horatio's loyalty and sacrifice.
Contributing to Blume's downfall[]
As Dedsec gains followers, they launch an offensive against Blume. Marcus infiltrates Blume's HQ, guided by T-Bone's expertise. T-Bone orchestrates crippling guard communication systems and breaches air gap computers. Following Marcus's successful escape, they confront Blume's CTO, Dusan Nemec. Exposing Nemec's exploitation of CTOS to the public, T-Bone and Marcus prompt his arrest by the police. Their victory is sealed as they celebrate with fellow hackers, symbolizing their triumph against Blume's corruption.
Personality[]
T-Bone comes across as a laid-back guy with a good sense of humor. He's skilled in fighting and quite smart – he once got Aiden drunk to make a fight easier. During missions, he cracks jokes similar to Jordi Chin. Audio logs in the game talk about fun pranks he used to pull with Tobias Frewer when they worked at Blume. When he meets Clara, he jokes about not being the prettiest guy around. He's known to enjoy a drink and often mentions it. He sticks with Aiden throughout the story, showing his loyalty. But underneath his jokes and relaxed manner, he carries a heavy burden of guilt. He feels responsible for the deaths of 11 people during a blackout in 2003. When Defalt, who is related to one of the victims, is revealed, T-Bone's guilt resurfaces. He never meant harm, and this guilt still weighs on him three years later. He uses his past to caution others, like when he warns Wrench against causing a big blackout.
