Red is one of the main deuteragonist of the 2011 South Korean cartoon Larva. Red has lots friends like his best Yellow and other insect friends, he is very cocky who sometimes hurts Yellow.
During the series, Red is usually seen being mean to Yellow and steals food from him and hurting him when he accidentally injuries him. Depending on the episodes, Red also turns into anti-hero.
He was voiced by Beom-gi Hong.
Design[]
Red is a caterpillar who is shorter than Yellow and lil bit tall, has 3 orange stripes down his Abdomen, has three red strands of hair coming out his head, and his eyes are reddish brown.
Personality[]
Red is very tall-tempered and self-centered throughout the series and often abuses Yellow despite him being nice, his attempts to get the better of him tends to end horribly for Red, regardless of the situation. In Larva Island, Red becomes less selfish and more caring to others.
History[]
Season 1[]
Red and Yellow are inside their cocoons, until suddenly they turn into butterflies and fly out of sewers to the city. Then moments later they get hit by an incoming plane and landing on nearby apartments and obstacles and hitting the ground.
Then the two get chased by an bike coming towards them, red gets stuck on the bike’s wheel following Yellow to save him. After stopping the biker Red is rescued until a group of pigeons surprise them ending the season.
Season 2[]
In Season 2 , Red and Yellow are seen being captured the pigeons from last season, after the pigeon hits a wall Red and Yellow fall through a chimney and land inside the house. When inside the house, Red and Yellow gets chased by animals inside the house trying to eat them.
Season 3[]
Red wakes up and notices that the whole house has been abandoned and come to a huge wrecking ball coming right at them, as they try to escape however Red gets stuck to the ball. The wrecking ball spins until it detaches and sends Red and Yellow flying through the city and landing on a rollercoaster track, and then get stuck ball together and flying through the ocean and facing sea animals and more.
They ride on a flying fish and encountering a bunch seagulls trying to eat them, then Yellow send out a huge fart scaring always the seagulls and ending the second season.
Larva Island/Season 4[]
Red and Yellow are sleeping on a paper and Yellow accidentally turns it into a paper airplane send them flying leaving New York City. The Morning Red wakes up to find them flying and tearing the paper airplane. the Yellow turns one of the papers into a Dove Origami. As soon they are about to head home they get hit by a incoming Jet, and a missile send Red and Yellow flying day and night until they reach an deserted island and Red meet his new girlfriend,Mango.
Trivia[]
- He was inspired by other characters who have red colors and have anger issues, and abuse their friend who are yellow, like the chocolate mascot Red from the M&M'S series, and Ren from the Ren & Stimpy series.
- He is also similar to Chuck (Lightning McQueen's former team member) from Pixar's Cars, both being red and having some orangish yellow on them, being temperamental, and they even have the same eye color, their faces even look similar to each other, and their voices sound similar when they get angry, but unlike Chuck, Red doesn't speak.
- In 2024-2025, he became a meme, where an image of him says "Oi Oi Oi", and the sound is Katsuki Bakugo saying that.
- His head design does look like a worm version of Anger from Inside Out.
