Vicerimus Mortem.
~ Requiem's Motto.

The Office of Requiem also known as Requiem, was a Central Intelligence Agency backed international faction and the main protagonists in the Zombies mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. It is led by Director Edward "Eddie" Richtofen, while its strike teams are led by Grigori Weaver. They are responsible for containing and investigating the dimensional breaches across the globe and Stopping Omega Group and The Forsaken.

Biography[]

The idea of Requiem began with the Associate Deputy Director the Directorate of Science And Technology, Eddie "Eddie" Richtofen. After the reactivation of The Projekt Endstation Cyclotron at Morasko by Omega Group Member Aleksandra Valentina and subsequent dimensional breaches from The Dark Aether, an emergency meeting was held on November 3rd, 1983 to discuss an appropriate response to Omega Group's recent activities, and the dimensional breaches that had appeared across the world. At the meeting, which included US Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger and CIA Director William J. Casey, Richtofen proposed the creation of The Office of Requiem, a sub group within the DS&T that would be internationally staffed, under the CIA's firm control. Two days later, The Office of Requiem was officially formed with Richtofen named as its Director. Richtofen would personally handpick Requiem's senior staff to run the four sub divisions within the office, CIA Special Agent Grigori Weaver as Special Operations Officer in charge with overseeing The Strike Teams, Vietnam War Veteran Major Mackenzie Carver as Head of Containment and Security, Doctor Elizabeth Grey as Head of Unnatural Sciences and Former Projekt Endstation Member and Operation Paperclip Defector Doctor Oskar Strauss as Head of Energy Research.

Behind the scenes, Richtofen has other ulterior motives to the formation of Requiem, The completion of Project Janus. Working under an unknown corporate Board of Directors, Richtofen would manipulate both Requiem and Omega Group behind the scenes. At some point, he learned of the existence of an Elder God within The Dark Aether known as The Forsaken. Richtofen would then devise a grand scheme to capture The Forsaken for his personal use in Project Janus.

Weaver would be soon contacted by a former BND Agent Samantha Maxis. She tells Weaver to watch a VHS tape that BND Agent Dieter had recently sent Requiem, the contents of which contained footage of The Soviet Union arriving at the abandoned Endstation Facility in Morsako, And Red Army Sergeant Kazimir Zykov being sealed in The Facility to close the breach to The Dark Aether. While Weaver asked her to turn herself to the CIA for protection, she refused and even fought off teams sent by Weaver to retrieve her. Maxis then left Germany and arrived in Romania to pursue a new contact within Omega Group, Captain Sergei Ravenov, who she believed, could be turned.

In Morsako, Poland, Weaver sends The Requiem Strike Team at the Projekt Endstation Facility where they discovered the Cyclotron and its gateway to The Dark Aether. During their exploration of the site, The Requiem Strike Team entered the other dimension and encountered Mayak, a Megaton Overlord. They also discovered a strange computer where they were able to make contact with a stranger named Kazimir Zykov, who told Requiem of his time in The Dark Aether. The Requiem Strike Team managed to resurrect The Omega Lieutenant Orlov who had become a Megaton by using The Der Wechsler, allowing him to assist them in shutting down the Cyclotron to close the rift opened at Morsako. Orlov warned the Requiem Strike Team that Omega Group had big plans and stayed behind to ensure the facility would be destroyed. Stoney "Raptor One" Maddox exfiltrated The Requiem Strike Team as the nuclear detonation occurred. Weaver then congratulated the Requiem Strike Team personally but noted their fight was far from over. After Operation Cerberus was successful, The Requiem Strike Team was reported to Weaver, Grey, Strauss and Carver about Outbreak Zones, WANDS and they may be ready to stop The Ural Outbreak Zone from The Dark Aether.

After some time and no contact from Samantha, Weaver is contacted by Ravenov who alerts Weaver that Samantha has been captured by Omega Group and tells him of the site of the newest dimensional breach testing and operations facility formerly known as Firebase Ripcord during the Vietnam War now known as Omega Group Outpost 25. Unknown to the rest of Requiem, Richtofen had contacted and ordered Omega Scientist William Peck to throw Maxis into The Dark Aether.

In Vietnam, Weaver send The Requiem Strike Team to meet up with Ravenov and managed to use one of the teleporters and arrived at Outpost 25 by helping Peck restoring the facility power in exchange for Maxis, but unbeknown to them, they helped him send all of his research gathered at Vietnam back to Omega. The team found another a modified computer and continued to communicate with Zykov. After using a truth serum on him, Peck revealed that Maxis was lost in The Dark Aether. The serum soon wore off and Peck tricked the team by disrupting the dimensional rift destroying all electronics and intel stored in the facility. The team, however, used's Requiem's dimensional disruptor satellite to open a new breach allowing Maxis to escape. The Requiem Strike Team and Maxis managed to leave the facility and regrouped with Ravenov. Suddenly, a massive Orda appeared in the village but was eliminated by The Requiem Strike Team who fled the area. As Raptor One arrived, Ravenov informed Maxis that an operation was happening in The Ural Mountains, and he had to stay in the field like she once did. Samantha and The Requiem Strike Team then left Vietnam, returning to Requiem HQ.

Upon arrival, Maxis was placed in quarantine while being tested after 48 hours in The Dark Aether, Her eyes are now purple, She was questioned by Carver, Strauss and Grey who were satisfied her experience in The Dark Aether. She was deemed to return in the field and was kept inside Requiem HQ for several months, they also seized the radio she used to contact The Requiem Strike Team. Weaver then visited her and gives her a female Rottweiler named Notso Fluffy to keep her company. In 1984, Requiem Strike Team was authorized to do Operation Threshold and discovered Operatsiya Inversiya, Richtofen then continues his manipulation by contacting Colonel Lev Kravchenko and Aleksandra Valentina about The Entity within The Dark Aether and later a document on the desk. Carver would keep this information to himself, only sharing it with The Requiem Strike Team. Zykov reveals himself to The Requiem Strike Team in The Ural Mountains, who was behind the communications with the modified computers as well as the crafting stations, The Dark Aether Crates, The Beverages with physiologically altering effects and the kiln fortifying weapons. Zykov warns Requiem that the army was mobilizing in The Dark Aether, and they needed to be ready. He also pleaded to help him escape and go home.

On November 16th, 1984, In Ruka, with the help Ravenov and Maxis who acquired a listening device by Aleksandra Valentina working with The Beacon Mechanism used by The Requiem Strike Team to navigate through The Ural Outbreak Zone, and the help of Grey and her comms protocols, Maxis established a covert and secure communication line with The Requiem Strike Team without Weaver's knowledge. She exhorted The Requiem Strike Team to meet with Ravenov in the Ruka Missile Silo and help thwart Operatsiya Inversiya. The Requiem Strike Team soon arrived at Ruka, Ravenov managed to secure the control room of the silo and they discovered that The Warheads were still pointed at the US East Coast. When Ravenov asked Maxis for a target, she stated that no one should have access to the warheads, and they should be dumped into The Pacific Ocean. To launch the missiles, Ravenov needed the help of The Strike Team to retrieve the warheads launch keys as he prepared them. after initiating the launch sequence however, they found out that massive Aetherium Crystals were obstructing the warhead hatches and a giant Tempest called Legion guarding them. With only 9 minutes before launch, The Requiem Strike Team successfully defeated Legion and destroyed the crystals allowing the hatches to open. As the warheads launched, Raptor One, who was sent by Maxis, arrived and The Requiem Strike Team left the area while Ravenov stayed in The Ural Mountains.

After The Ruka Operation, The Requiem Strike Team was nearly court marshalled before being pardoned personally by Richtofen, who allowed them to continue operations as normal. Requiem's Senior Staff also held a meeting, where discussed about the Ruka Incident. Weaver, after learning about what happened, furiously confronted Grey and warned her to never cross his path again. He also confronted Maxis, confining her to her quarters. Richtofen then gave Weaver new orders, forcing him to have Maxis be taken away for additional testing. She would be brought to Block 8, where Richtofen would interrogate and torture her with the intent of developing her powers. Sometime after Ruka, Ravenov contacted Weaver using Maxis' direct line, informing him that a group of Omega scientists known "The Omega Eight" were ready to defect to Requiem as dissent and division were spreading within Omega Group. Weaver was soon authorized to launch Operatsiya Issecheniye to retrieve The Defectors.

On December 14th, 1984, In Sanatorium, Operatsiya Issecheniye began as Weaver contacted The Requiem Strike Team and informed them to meet with Ravenov and The Omega Eight near a Santorium. The Requiem Strike Team then saw the helicopter crashed by Omega Research Lead of Necro-Analytics Dr. Hugo Jager indicating the scientists survived and were head near The Monument Island on the lake next to the Sanatorium. Their helicopter, however, has now crashed and were now missing. After The Requiem Strike Team located the crash site, They recovered a message left by Omega Research Lead of Necro-Analytics Dr. Hugo Jager indicateing the scientists survived and were heading near the monument on the island located on the lake next to the sanatorium, Learned about The Aetherium Neutralizer, a device developed by one of the defectors, Dr. Natalya Zarkova. After The Requiem Strike Team then successfully did the modified Recon Rover while using the passage to reach them, The Requiem Strike Team arrives at Monument Island and discovered the corpses of the Omega scientists and a message from Jager taunting them and revealed his mission about infiltrating The Omega Eight by eliminating The Defectors and capturing The Requiem Strike Team. The Requiem Strike Team then eliminated The Horde of Zombies and an Orda, While Raptor One arrives to exfil The Requiem Strike Team, Omega then shot down Raptor One's Helicopter, Kravchenko arrives at the crash side and The Omega Group Operatives dragged Raptor One away, Kravchenko ordered The Requiem Strike Team to surrender for their lives, The Requiem Strike Team and Raptor One would be placed in Omega Group Custody after. After the capture of Raptor and The Requiem Strike Team, Omega Group realized that Aleksandra Valentina is Angelika Hannabelle Vogel is the daughter of Dr. Ulrich Vogel of Projekt Endstation and prepares to rebuild Task Force Baldr, Elizabeth Grey created Klaus, an experimental Robot, Richtofen activated Klaus to kill the operatives in the safehouse.

On February 2nd, 1985, The Requiem Strike Team was deployed by Kravchenko to the Berlin Outbreak Zone to stop Valentina and prevent The Dark Aether Army known as Task Force Baldr from entering their world. In Berlin, The Requiem Strike Team reactivated Klaus and uncovered The Underground Endstation Lab while under the command by Gorev, Jager and Peck. The Requiem Strike Team began creating a New Reality Inversion Warhead to close the portal by recovering The Corrupted Uranium stolen from the lost Nuclear Device by a Megaton and collected essence from Tempests using Endstation Lures. As the Requiem Strike Team went successful, Valentina stepped out of the portal while unleashing Zombies and Tormentors and revealed herself to Kravchenko, Peck, Jager, Gorev and The Requiem Strike Team about her real identity while a new dawn of Task Force Baldr has arrived on its way. Valentina and The Requiem Strike Team fought against throughout The Outbreak Zone, but, however, The Requiem Strike Team manages to defeat Valentina while strapping her to the conversion machine built by her father and activated it, killing her. Her energy refined the essence by completing the reality inversion warhead, Klaus then understands what its mission was and grabbed The Warhead before stepping in The Dark Aether, The explosion closed the portal and stopped the outbreak. Kravchenko contacted The Requiem Strike Team to inform them that Raptor One is free, The Requiem Strike Team then unties Raptor One in the streets of East Berlin. Suddenly, Kravchenko arrived with his helicopter and opened fire at The Requiem Strike Team. Just Then, Maxis contacted The Requiem Strike Team and ordered them to reach one of the building rooftops, Maxis used her new powers to open the port on the rooftop for The Requiem Strike Team to escape through while teleporting to Block 8 where they met Weaver and Maxis with her dog Notso Fluffy. Richtofen reviewed the footage and stated That Valentina was no longer a problem and Project Janus could proceed and noted that Maxis was becoming a problem to be dealt with and her powers are growing. Richtofen watches Maxis using her powers and then killed an Omega Group Operative while Project Janus would proceed. Meanwhile, The Requiem Strike Team successfully stopped The Outbreak Zones in the North Atlantic Ocean, Algeria, Germany and Nebraska, Ravenov, who was blacklisted by The CIA following Operatsiya Issecheniye and contacted Weaver about Operatsiya Izbavitel at Test Site Anna, Madrid Dead Drop and releasing Maxis. Richtofen then allows Maxis to contact Requiem Strike Team, Weaver and Grey by sending letters and later discussing about stopping The Forsaken.

On June 4th, 1985, The Requiem Strike Team arrives soon after outside of the facility via a portal created by Samantha Maxis and supported by Ravenov. The Requiem Strike Team noticed an Omega Teleporter by entering Test Site Anna and now greeted by Kravchenko and Peck who told them they were too late. The Requiem Strike Team reached the observation tower by watching the Town Square where an activation teleporter was located, Kravchenko, Peck and The Requiem Strike Team watched the return of Zykov from The Dark Aether and The Lost Russian happily thanked them before transforming himself violently and revealed himself as The Forsaken and explained that 40 years had passed on Earth once Zykov closed the Endstation gateway, four centuries had passed, survived and evolved, as he consumed more powerful beings than himself and told Peck how he had tricked him into releasing him from The Dark Aether. Kravchenko angrily lashed at Peck before zombies swarmed the tower, Maxis arrives in Test Site Anna and uses her powers to hold The Forsaken off. The Requiem Strike Team learned that The Forsaken was now protected by a plastic barrier and that an Aetherium Neutralizer was required to reach The Entity. With the assistance of Peck, The Requiem Strike successfully created The Makeshift Device, created and forged The Chrysalax with the help of Sparagmos, The Zealot of The Dark Aether seeking revenge of The Stealer of Souls for enslaving The Disciples. As The Requiem Strike Team activated the device, Peck mistakenly shot the gas line in the observation tower with Kravchenko by the explosion. The Requiem Strike team then succeeded to The Town Square with the help of Maxis and uses her powers to power The Aetherium Gun Turrets. The Requiem Strike Team successfully defeated The Forsaken, As The Forsaken launched the counterattack, Maxis sacrifices herself and dives into The Forsaken's core and seals herself into The Dark Aether. The Forsaken is now weakened and was drawn into the spherical device in the containment chamber, After The Forsaken is captured, The Outbreak Zones are now collapsing. The Helicopter arrives to transport The Spherical Device of out The Soviet Union. The Requiem Strike bid farewell to Ravenov before leaving with Raptor One. At his deck, Richtofen stated that Maxis is locked in The Dark Aether and was no longer a problem for Project Janus. He ordered The Requiem Strike Team to be sent to Blacksite 13 for indefinite containment before shutting down Requiem, He then orders his men to move on Requiem's Senior Staff and watches Grey, Carver, Strauss, Weaver, Raptor One and The Requiem Strike Team being arrested from his monitors, Richtofen grabbed his briefcase from his desk and left his office. Requiem is now presumably shut down after the Senior Staff were arrested.
