The Restoration is a recovery organisation in the Sonic the Hedgehog IDW comic series that is dedicated to assisting communities that have suffered from major disasters. It is considered to be a successor to the Resistance. The Restoration was initially led by Amy Rose, but has since fallen under the leadership of Jewel the Beetle.
History[]
The Restoration was formed sometime after The Battle of Angel Island, when Knuckles the Echidna unceremoniously disbanded the Resistance to resume his duties as guardian of the Master Emerald and Angel Island's protector. Amy Rose was appointed as the organisation's leader when she and Miles "Tails" Prower joined to help rebuild societies, such as Sunset City, that were left in ruin after the Eggman War.
The Restoration faced it's first major crisis when Dr. Eggman unleashed the Metal Virus upon the world. They sent out support and Rescue Shuttles to Seaside City after receiving word from Vector the Crocodile that the location has come under attack by crowds of infectious Zombots; people who had fully succumb to the Metal Virus' effects. They managed to evacuate all the uninfected citizens of the city with the help of Sonic the Hedgehog and continued to save as many other people as they could when the Metal Virus spread further across the planet. However, their headquarters was proving to be an inadequate shelter for all those they have rescued which eventually allowed a contaminated individual to sneak into the base unnoticed and quickly spread his infection onto almost everyone in the building.
Meanwhile, Tails was hastily putting together a cure for the Metal Virus in Central City while Dr. Eggman used his Faceship aircraft to infect the city's inhabitants. Although Tails was able to develop a formula that could successfully treat the infected, hordes of Zombots managed to break into his workshop and destroyed all his work on the cure before he could get it to Restoration HQ. Tails escaped the overrun city on a Restoration shuttle as it headed to Spiral Hill Village for one last evacuation before landing on Angel Island where the remaining heroes gathered to decide their next move.
Eventually, Sonic and Silver the Hedgehog ended the epidemic by using their super states to pull up the Metal Virus from the planet, thus reverting everyone back to normal. However, the damage caused by the crisis resulted in enough paperwork for Amy Rose to resign as leader of the Restoration by handing over her duties to museum curator Jewel the Beetle. Under Jewel's leadership, the Restoration relocated to a new headquarters to provide better shelter for the many people still left homeless by the Metal Virus. Reconstruction efforts were also assisted by new members Tangle the Lemur and Belle the Tinkerer until their antics got them banned from the workshop. Unfortunately, it was around this time that Restoration HQ came under attack by the Deadly Six who sought to eliminate any hope in the organisation.
