The Revolutionary Fleet is a group of Gjallarhorn forces led by McGillis Fareed and a faction in Mobile Suit Gundam IRON-BLOODED ORPHANS. They seek to overthrow the Seven Stars of Gjallarhorn and to reform the organization by ridding it of corruption. They also have an alliance with Tekkadan, whom they agree will be given autonomy over Mars if their revolution succeeds.

History[]

The Revolutionary Fleet was formed out of the Outer Earth Orbit Regulatory Joint Fleet and the other Gjallarhorn forces McGillis had under his command, including his forces in the Mars Branch. After taking control of Gundam Bael and earning the blessing of its Alaya Vijnana system, McGillis announced his revolution against Gjallarhorn and his lieutenant Liza Enza gave a speech broadcasted across the Earth Sphere exposing the corruption within Gjallarhorn and announcing McGillis' plans to reform the organization. This was countered by a speech from Vidar of the Gjallarhorn Arianrhod Fleet accusing McGillis of being the one responsible for the death of Carta Issue and trying to seize power for himself.

Despite having earned the blessing of Gundam Bael, said to house the spirit of Gjallarhorn's founder Agnika Kaieru himself, the other Seven Stars of Gjallarhorn refused to lend their ground forces to either side of the conflict, even though an ancient Gjallarhorn rule stated that whoever could pilot Bael would become leader of Gjallarhorn, and chose to remain neutral in the conflict between McGillis and Rustal Elion. Despite not gaining the Gjallarhorn ground forces like he had intended, McGillis was confident that his Revolutionary Fleet and Tekkadan would be enough to defeat the Arianrhod Fleet and mobilized them into space to confront Rustal's forces.

Right as the battle started, Rustal had one of his men infiltrate McGillis' forces and fire off a Dainsleif in a false flag attack before committing suicide. The apparent use of a Dainsleif by McGillis' forces gave the Arianrhod Fleet justification to use the dozens of Dainsleifs they had stockpiled against the Revolutionary Fleet and Tekkadan. Despite the technological imbalance, McGillis and Tekkadan fought on and held their own against the Arianrhod Fleet's forces. To counter the Dainsleifs, Tekkadan and the Revolutionary Fleet prepared a modified railgun and sent out Tekkadan Unit Leader Norba Shino to fire it at Rustal's flagship, depriving the Arianrhod Fleet of their commander and putting a swift end to the battle. After barraging past the Dainsleif formation, Shino was able to get close enough to fire the railgun at the fleet, briefly causing Rustal to sweat. However, due to a last second ambush by Julieta, Shino's shot was knocked off course and missed. The Arianrhod Fleet then pushed back against the Revolutionary forces, forcing them to retreat.

The Revolutionary Fleet and Tekkadan withdrew to Mars, hoping to continue the fight from there despite the losses they had endured. Setting up at Tekkadan's Mars base, the remaining Tekkadan and Revolutionary forces prepared a final stand against Gjallarhorn. With the Arianrhod Fleet emerging the favorable victor in the conflict, the other Seven Stars who up until that point had remained neutral threw their support behind Rustal Elion and the Arianrhod Fleet. With their backing, Rustal's forces pressed to finish the conflict and completely destroy Tekkadan and the Revolutionary Fleet as a sign of Gjallarhorn's might. After breaking through Gjallarhorn's ground forces, McGillis and his Revolutionary Fleet headed out into space to make a final attempt to kill Rustal Elion.

After setting all the preparations for his final stand, McGillis dismissed the crew of his flagship, thanking them all for their loyalty and promising to reward them should he succeed in killing Rustal. After his crew abandoned ship, McGillis rammed his Halfbeak-class flagship into the Arianrhod Fleet before emerging in Gundam Bael to take on the Gjallarhorn forces single-handedly. With the power of Gundam Bael and his own piloting skill, McGillis took out numerous Mobile Suits of the Arianrhod Fleet and scuffled with the Gundam Kimaris Vidar before crashing his damaged Gundam into Rustal's flagship in order to board it. Though he came close to reaching Rustal, McGillis was shot dead by Gaelio Bauduin, putting an end to his revolution. The forces of Tekkadan continued to hold out however in order to buy time for their members to escape a start a new life.

Despite their revolution failing, the Revolutionary Fleet ultimately achieved many of their goals. The corruption they exposed within Gjallarhorn and the death of Iok Kujan of the Seven Stars forced Rustal Elion to completely reform the organization, removing the corrupt Seven Stars in power and setting up a more democratic system to manage Gjallarhorn instead.
