Rheneas is one of the main characters from The Railway Series and it's TV adaptation the Thomas the Tank Engine.
He is voiced by Ben Small and John Hasler in the English dub, and by the Japanese dub voiced by Ryōtarō Okiayu and Daiki Nakamura.
Background and description
Rheneas is one of the oldest engines in The Railway Series and the televised spin-off Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends. He is best friends and brothers with Skarloey. Rheneas is famous for being a "Gallant Old Engine" after managing to save his railway from closure after bringing a full passenger train home through a storm while suffering cramp in his valve gear. He was awarded with an overhaul and later returned to service, a much more useful and happy little engine.
Basis
Rheneas is a red Fletcher Jennings Bb Class 0-4-0WT. Dolgoch is his real life basis and twin in The Railway Series.
Trivia
- Rheneas is Sudric (the native language of the Island of Sodor) for "Divided Waterfall".
- Rheneas's event in "Gallant Old Engine", both in The Railway Series and Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, was heavily inspired by the events that occurred with Dolgoch at the Talyllyn Railway before it became preserved in 1951.
