Raimu Bito, better known as Rhyme, is a supporting protagonist of the 2007 role-playing video game The World Ends with You, as well as a late supporting character in its 2021 sequel NEO: The World Ends with You.

She is the younger sister of Beat, whom she partners up with in the Reaper Game. She does not realize that Beat is her older brother, due to Rhyme's love for him being Beat's entry fee. Although she does not recognize Beat and does not have any dreams due to them being her entry fee, she still remains the cherishable moral support she had always been to him. She returns in NEO as a talented hacker who manages to hack into the Reaper Networking Service to find Beat after his disappearance.

She was voiced by Hitomi Nabatame in the game series, and Ayana Taketatsu in the anime series in Japanese and Kate Higgins in the game series, Ashley Rose in first anime series with replaced Dani Chambers in English.

Personality[]

Rhyme's earnest and hard-working attitude proves a big help to Neku and Shiki early on, as well as to her partner, Beat. She has an addiction to adages and no shortage of smiles, and without her, the others would be lost.
~ Nintendo DS game manual description of Rhyme.

Rhyme lightens the tone of the story with her cheerful demeanor and cute, but tomboyish appearance. She plays a similar role to Beat as Shiki does to Neku, but lacks the relatively few negative traits Shiki has, such as her arrogance. In contrast to Shiki who has passion for clothing, Rhyme is still undecided about what her passion is, causing a great deal of insecurity, and for her to not know what to live for other than her older brother. However, she is optimistic and friendly to the point she even tries to befriend Neku, despite him being anti-social, and politely encouraged her older brother to not have so much animosity towards him. Recognizing how pure and innocent Rhyme is, Beat was unable to cope with her dying to protect him, and reluctantly joined the Reapers in order to try and bring her back to life.

After she is brought back to life, she realizes her dreams of being a hacker, and becomes highly skilled, proving she has great intelligence. Like in the first game, Rhyme appears much more level-headed than Beat, only in NEO, her intellect shines more. She remained collected, and was the one who came up with the plan to save Shibuya, and made sure everyone else remained cool. Her kindness and calmness, as well as her intellect allows her to be a sedating presence for not just Beat, but the nervous Kaie Ono.
