General Richard "Rick" Bill Flag Sr., or simply known as Rick Flag, Sr., is one of the two main protagonists (alongside The Bride) of the adult animated series Creature Commandos, the first installment of the DC Universe. He will return in some capacity in the 2025 DC Universe film Superman and will be the main antagonist in Season 2 of Peacemaker.

He is an experienced, and condecorated general of the United States Armed Forces, and A.R.G.U.S. agent.

He is also the father of the late Colonel Rick Flag Jr., and the former leader of the Creature Commandos, sent to Pokolistan to protect Princess Ilana Rostovic from the sorceress Circe.

After partially uncovering a plot conspired by Ilana to take over the world, Flag was critically injured by the metahuman Clayface, thus putting the Bride in charge of the commandos.

He is portrayed by Frank Grillo, who also voices him in animation, and is best known for playing Leo Barnes from The Purge film series.

Early Life[]

Not much is known of Richard Bill "Rick" Flag's past, but he fell in love with a woman and she gave birth to his son when they were eighteen years old. Needing to provide for her and his son, Flag, Sr. joined the military mostly to receive money to raise and support his family. Rick Flag, Jr. in turn joined the military once he was eighteen, but was tragically killed by Peacemaker during a mission in Corto Maltese. Flag, Jr.'s death deeply affected his father, who holds a hatred towards Peacemaker and fell into a state of depression.

The reason why Rick Flag's hair is dark in Superman instead of being white like in Creature Commandos is because of two reasons: One being Frank Grillo was filming Tulsa King while the second season of Peacemaker was being produced, and that the character Rick Flag, Sr. uses temporary dye.
