When she was kidnapped by pirates, he saved her and she was surprised he did so in spite of her treatment. From that point, Scarlett fell in love with him and soon he felt the same. Scarlett faked her death, allowing her and Kyros to get married.
They had a daughter named Rebecca and lived in a house far from the kingdom. Doldo and his family would meet with them on occasion, with him treasuring his granddaughter, though he and the rest of his family often regarded Kyros as weird when he believed she would be sullied by his touch.

Riku agreed and said if he were to live, then he would not return to the throne before Pica moved to crush them. However, he was promptly cut down by Zoro and Riku was in awe at how he took down the Donquixote executive.
After Luffy and Doflamingo had their final clash, Riku was amazed by Doflamingo's defeat.
