King Riku Doldo, also known as King of Miracles, is the recrowned king of Dressrosa Island. He is the father of Scarlett and Viola, as well as the grandfather of Rebecca.

History[]

Background[]

King Riku received word of a troubled delinquent named Kyros, whom he went to meet with, only to be struck with a club, but he calmly stopped his men from arresting him. The king offered a way for Kyros to serve his sentence without being imprisoned. He had Kyros participate in the gladiator games, where he easily excelled but over time lamented that he was known for spilling blood.

Soon, Riku was trained by Kyros and he entered the Colosseum under the secret alias 'Ricky'. Kyros recognized him and Riku gave him a scar on his head while he was caught off-guard. Kyros soon regained his wits and defeated Doldo. Once Kyros questioned his motives, the king told him it was time he leave the Colosseum and truly be great.

Sometime later, he made Kyros his army commander, with the people coming to respect him. Unfortunately, Riku's eldest daughter Scarlett was not too welcoming and told him to stay away from her and her sister, despite him being assigned to protecting her. Kyros later saved her from pirates despite her treatment of him. From that point, Scarlett fell in love with him, and soon, he felt the same. Scarlett faked her death, allowing her and Kyros to get married.

They had a daughter named Rebecca and lived in a house far from the kingdom. Doldo and his family would meet with them on occasion, with him treasuring his granddaughter, though he and the rest of his family often regarded Kyros as weird, as he believed she would be sullied by his touch.

Dressrosa Arc[]

When Sugar's curse broke, Doldo watched as Doflamingo became enraged by his true nature being revealed. In the meantime, Thunder Soldier transformed back into Kyros and Doldo regained his memories of his son-in-law and broke into tears of sadness at not recalling him before. He then witnessed Kyros storm in and attacked Doflamingo, before calling out to him, and they shared a tearful reunion before Kyros decapitated Doflamingo, to Doldo's shock. After Kyros proceeded to defeat Buffalo and the foot soldiers, he freed Riku. However, the battle was not over, as Doflamingo was actually alive and created a string clone of himself, Doflamingo told Doldo that he was going to unleash a more tragic event than the one he used to usurp him years ago, to his horror. Doldo and his allies were flung out of the castle.

When Doflamingo initiated the birdcage, he had the populace go after his twelve hated enemies. Doldo was included in the list, with some of his loyal followers being relieved at his survival. During this time, he was distraught by Doflamingo unleashing carnage on his people as they realized that Doflamingo framed Doldo years ago.

Doldo and his people then received word that Kyros defeated Diamante. He reflected when he got word of his daughter's death by the latter's hand and was pleased that his son-in-law got revenge on Diamante.

Very soon, the group was then confronted by Pica in his giant stone statue form. Pica mocked the former king and told him that if he had been more decisive, then he wouldn't have lost the throne. Riku agreed and said if he were to live, then he would not return to the throne before Pica moved to crush them. However, he was promptly cut down by Zoro and Riku was in awe at how he took down the Donquixote executive.

After Luffy and Doflamingo had their final clash, Riku was amazed by Doflamingo's defeat. He tries to reject his rise as a king again, but the citizens (who now knew the truth about Doflamingo's true nature and Riku's total innocence) encouraged King Riku to come back and didn't care about the royal family's reputation that was damaged. His best friend, King Elizabello, encouraged Riku to go back to being a king again. He was bowed down to by Issho as an apology for the World Government's mess.

Levely Arc[]

He and his family attended the Levely. He and King Cobra both moved for the abolition of the Warlord system due to them both being usurped by one in the past. In the end, their successful arguments resulted in the Warlords being abolished.

Appearance[]

He has a scar from his first meeting with Kyros. After 10 years, he is now elderly and balding in several spots.

Personality[]

He was greatly ashamed of failing his country to the point where he broke down tears at reliving the trauma of Doflamingo forcing him to kill his people. He also asserted to Pica that he had no intention of returning to the throne even if the Straw Hats defeated Doflamingo.

He loves his family, supporting the union of Kyros and Scarlett, being devastated by Scarlett's death, and feeling ashamed that his tragic his history followed Rebecca.

After Doflamingo's defeat, he was more than happy to have his name cleared and the people know the truth, though he was reluctant to take back the throne.

Abilities And Powers[]

Doldo was trained by his son-in-law, skilled warrior Kyros. He was able to hold against Kyros while masquerading under the fake name Ricky. He was the only person to have ever landed a blow on Kyros, though it should be noted that Kyros was off-guard after recognizing who Ricky was. In the present day, he was able to hold against several gladiators before being bested by Blue Gilly.

As King of Dressrosa, he has full authority of the kingdom.

Doldo has impressive endurance, as he withstood a kick from Blue Gilly and remained conscious.
