~ The Emotions' expressing their love for Riley at the end of Inside Out 2. |
Riley's Emotions are the main protagonists of the Inside Out franchise. They are the emotions of Riley Andersen and live inside her mind, ensuring she stays safe and happy while doing the right thing.
Members[]
Leader[]
- Joy: The leader of Riley's emotions. She's in charge of making sure Riley stays happy and positive. Despite at first not being willing to let the other emotions control Riley in the first film, she later learns the importance of working together as a team and becomes a lot more supportive of her friends by the second film.
Primary Emotions[]
- Sadness: Outside of helping Joy ensure Riley's happiness, Sadness also helps Riley open up to her friends and family in delicate situations. She's usally seen moping around and occasionally crying, but she does have moments where she's happy.
- Fear: Fear's job is to make sure Riley stays cautious in dangerous situations, although this may cause him to over worry at times as he's scared of almost everything.
- Disgust: Disgust makes it her personal mission to prevent Riley from being poisoned physically and/or socially. She's also an analyst as she can deduce when's someone's hiding something based off the slightest facial expressions.
- Anger: Anger often causes Riley to lash out and defend herself whenever he feels like she's been wronged in some way. He also has pyrokinesis powers as he can shoot fire out from the top of his head when angry.
Later Emotions[]
Anxiety: Anxiety is the first new emotion after Riley starts puberty. Her job is to think ahead to the future and worry about potential situations. Although she kicks out Joy and the other primary emotions at first because she thought it was what was best for Riley, she later realizes her mistake and understands the importance of them all working together, similar to Joy in the first movie.
Envy: Envy is often starstuck and gets easily jealous over what others have that she and Riley don't.
Embarrassment: Embarassment's job is to make Riley realize when she's in an awkward and uncomfortable situation. Embarassment is also extremely shy and doesn't usually directly talk with the other emotions, although he can come out of his shell when the need arises such as when he helped Sadness and the other emotions stop Anxiety.
Ennui: Ennui makes sure Riley remains cool and level headed when faced with a situation where she isn't sure what to do. Ennui is also often bored and can be seen slouched on a couch.
Nostalgia: Nostalgia is an emotion that causes Riley to reminisce on past memories, although she's technically not an official member yet as Anxiety and the other emotions claim she's still too early to be there every time she pops in.
