Riley Finn is a major character in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He is a member of the organization called the initiative that fights against supernatural threats and protects the world from monsters and one of Buffy Summers' boyfriends.
Biography[]
Riley first met Buffy when working as a teaching assistant at the college she attended. Eventually they both discovered that the other protected the world from monsters and saved each other's lives several times. Riley's mentor Maggie Walsh attempted to get Buffy killed which devastated him.
Riley later slept with Faith Lehane who was possessing Buffy's body, causing rifts in their relationship. Buffy and Riley mended their relationship after she got advice from Jonathan Levinson.
Riley initially hated all non-humans but this changed after Oz was captured and subjected to inhumane experiments as Riley assisted in saving him from their captivity.
Riley met Buffy's ex boyfriend Angel and got into a fight with him which the latter won. Riley became worried that Buffy did not love him as didn't share any intimacy with him while he mother Joyce was in hospital. This was made worse by Spike playing on his insecurities.
Riley let a vampire feed on him to "even the score" with Buffy for "letting Dracula feed" on her. They fell out shortly after and Riley left to join the military.
Later Riley met Buffy again while tracking a Suvolte Demon with his wife Samantha. Riley discovered that Spike was keeping the demon's eggs. He had authorisation to kill him but since he learned Buffy was having sex with him he gave her the choice and she decided to keep him alive. Riley then left on good terms with Buffy.
