Rin Itoshi is an antagonist turned supporting character of the manga and anime Blue Lock. He is the younger brother of Itoshi Sae, Japan's most talented player, and former captain of the Blue Lock Eleven.
He is voiced by Kōki Uchiyama in Japanese and by Matt Shipman in English.
Personality[]
Previously, Rin was a good teamwork player and varsity captain, seeming to get along well with some of his peers, however, due to his falling out with Itoshi Sae, he has become cold, calculating, and extremely serious. He focuses intensely on football, almost obsessively and also selfishly, as he is always putting his goals above teammates and their motivations, he is very proud of being a striker, bordering on arrogance, as he often describes football and the way of thinking of opponents as “lukewarm” and “mediocre”. These slights and behayed is came from his brother, in an attempt to be like his brother, Rin copies his offenses and embodies this mentality. Rin doesn't seem to show respect for almost anyone, he will only acknowledge his presence if you have a noticeable skill that pisses him off on the soccer field. He doesn't seem to make friends, only rivals (with Isagi and Bachira apparently getting along with him). At the time of departure of the Japan National Representative, he talks more with the team, giving instructions on the field and talking directly with Isagi. Rin struggles with an end-of-day aftercare routine to improve his physique, and is sometimes found in the training room doing exercises or lifting weights. Despite his arrogance and condescension, Rin truly lives and breathes football, dedicating every moment to improving his own game. This mindset in combination with his personality is what makes him the top contender for Blue Lock's best attacker, all Rin does is to allow him to defeat his older brother and end the rivalry, but after Rin overcomes his desire revenge against his brother and rivalry with teammates, he achieves clarity in his actions. He now intends to break free of whatever binds him and establish his own identity as an egoist without relying on Itoshi Sae, teammates or rivals.
Abilities[]
Rin is one of two Blue Lock players who statistically have the top row, along with teammate Ryusei Shido, since the Third Selection, he scored an average of 2.5 goals per game, which was highest among the top 6. His spatial intelligence, ball control, strength and accurate shots are rivaled by only a few of the players, although Shido can be similarly described, what makes Rin Itoshi the best player in Blue Lock is his willingness to collaborate and create reactions. chemistry with his teammates, while Shido scores goals directly and independently. Rin's experience and skills are advanced enough that he has the ability to play the role of captain, focus as the focal point for an attack, play defense, and even outrun top-level defenders by using his strength against them.
