Heroine Overview

I don't know about your dimension, but out here, things never go according to plan. Improvisation is a skill you learn very fast.
~ Rivet to Clank.
Rivet: Hi Ratchet, I'm Rivet. Nice to meet you!
Clank: What are you doing?
Rivet: Nothing! Just...thinking about building the Dimensionator and saving the universes.
Clank: Are you nervous about meeting Ratchet?
Rivet: Whaaa...? Yeah. A little.
Clank: He is friendly. I promise. And, once we build the Dimensionator, he will help us find Dr. Nefarious.
Rivet: Right, Guess our adventure's coming to an end, Bolts. You two and Dr. Nefarious will be back in your own dimension in no time.
~ Rivet before meeting Ratchet.
Kit: You two seem to have a lot of history.
Rivet: Yeah, you could say that. I've fought a long time to win our galaxy back. Lost friends, my arm.
Kit: The Emperor did that?
Rivet: Oh...uh, not exacly. It happened during a mission...I'd found a secret entrance into the Emperor's Tower, so I tried to sneak in. Alone. The door was right there... I didn't note one of Nefarious's Warbots was nearby. I thought I could run...I, uh...wasn't fast enough. Then it just... stopped. I got away before it could finish the job. But, I built myself this cool new arm... So it's not all bad!
~ Rivet's backstory, recounting how she lost her right arm.

Rivet is the deuteragonist of the 2021 video game, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. She is a female lombax and Ratchet's counterpart from another dimension, who teams up with Clank while he is separated from Ratchet when Dr. Nefarious causes the destruction of the Dimensionator.

A member of the resistance working to stop the reign of the evil Emperor Nefarious and his Nefarious Empire for years, Rivet later teamed up with Ratchet and Clank to defeat both Emperor Nefarious and Dr. Nefarious and save the multiverse from destruction. She is also Kit's partner.

She is voiced by Jennifer Hale who voiced Ms. Keane in Powerpuff Girls, Fanny Fulbright in Codename: Kids Next Door, Cinderella in Cinderella franchise since 2002, Ophelia in Brutal Legend, Flora in Tak and the Power of Juju, Black Cat in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Alana in Ariel's Beginning, Sam in Totally Spies, Aayla Secura in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Commander Shepard in Mass Effect and and Riyo Chuchi in Star Wars: The Clone Wars/Star Wars: The Bad Batch.

Appearance[]

Rivet has white fur with pigeon blue stripes, thin dark eyebrows, a small light pink nose, and light blue eyes. The fur on her forehead resembles a tuft of hair. She wears a pair of black goggles with blue lenses on her head, silver hoop earrings in each ear (two on the right and one on the left), a black and gray jumpsuit with a belt, an orange scarf, a black left glove with two orange stripes almost at the end, and black boots with an orange detail. She also has a yellow bionic right arm. Unlike the only other known female lombax, Angela Cross, she has a long bushy tail similar to a raccoon’s or a fox's and noticeably different from those of Ratchet and Alister Azimuth, who both have tails similar to a lion.

Personality[]

Rivet: Wow. It's been my lifelong dream to operate a drill a hundred times bigger than me.
Clank: Really? That is very specific.
Rivet: Specific goals are achievable goals.
~ Rivet.

Rivet is a brave, warm-blooded young Lombax who primarily puts her life on the line to protect the downtrodden of Emperor Nefarious. Although part of the Resistance, Rivet is very lonely and always prefers to act on her own without ever wanting a partner, at least until she meets Clank, Ratchet, and Kit. Throughout the game, the Lombax manages to break through the walls of loneliness to the point of accepting Kit as her partner. Surviving in such a dangerous galaxy made her understand that it is necessary to improvise very quickly when things go wrong.

Overall, Rivet is a kind, teasing, laid-back, sometimes touchy, determined, sassy, adventure-loving, reckless, somewhat surly, confident and emotional person who cares deeply for her friends and would do anything to save them from harm. She initially had a pessimistic and incredulous side, not really believing Clank with his explanations of other dimensions or that other Lombaxes could still exist. She also doesn't like it when someone tries to filter with her. Socially, she is a bit clumsy due to her solitary attitude and little seems jaded, skeptical and rather bitter. She seems to quite appreciate the adulation that others give her every time she wins a victory, such as when she was so flattered by the Morks that she laughed a little before asserting that her was enough. Although she has never known her kind the Lombaxes, Rivet really wants to find them.

Since losing her arm, Rivet has held a grudge against robots, not so much that she hates them but enough to be suspicious of them, calling robots not her thing. When she encountered a damaged Clank, she took him with her presumably out of sympathy although she found it hard to trust him completely despite Clank's sincerity. It was only after she viewed the memories of the little robot that she began to bond with him, developing a relationship almost similar to that of Ratchet and Clank. This unexpected friendship also had the effect of erasing Rivet's general distrust of robots. When she found out that Kit was the one who cut off her arm, Rivet was very angry that she kept this from her, although Clank convinced the female Lombax to forgive Kit, Rivet only got even angrier when she realized that Kit just wanted to go back into hiding instead of helping in the crisis. When Kit finally returned with help, Rivet forgave her and the two developed a true friendship.

Upon learning of Ratchet's existence, Rivet quickly became uncomfortable about finally being able to meet another Lombax. Once they met, Rivet and Ratchet felt a little embarrassed in each other's presence but got along well enough quickly, simultaneously saying the same words a few times. Even when they briefly argued when Ratchet accused Rivet of being too scared of Kit while Rivet claimed Ratchet was too scared to find their kind, the two Lombaxes were quick to forgive each other.

Relationships[]

Ratchet[]

Rivet was a little nervous about meeting another Lombax like Ratchet. When they finally meet they are quite shy towards each other but as they spend time together their relationship becomes much better. They briefly quarreled after Rivet left Kit behind, prompting Ratchet to reproach her for letting her fear guide her choices, only for Rivet in turn to blame him for being too scared to just try to find the other Lombaxes. Simultaneously, the two Lombaxes told each other they were sorry, knowing that they were each right. During the final battle, she showed concern for Ratchet.

Clank[]

Rivet found Clank alone and damaged after the Dimensionator exploded and promptly took him as her partner. Although she was somewhat wary of him and calling him Smartybot, the two bonded rather well after Rivet is seen that Clank was telling the truth from the start on Sargasso, promising him that she will have his transmitter repaired. Rivet would especially begin to see Clank differently after she was surprised that he might feel bad for reminding her of a bad memory, even though she hadn't really treated him well since they met. During the passage on Blizar Prime, Rivet saved the life of Clank instead of recovering the quartz, showing that she is very attached to him despite the short time they know each other. On Torren IV, Rivet nudged with Clank in a friendly manner for successfully calming the Fixer. After saving him in Zordoom, Rivet admitted to being afraid for Clank while saying that she is happy that he alright. Clank later convinces Rivet that she should forgive Kit, and at the end of the game she makes him a new arm.

Kit[]

Kit was the warbot responsible for the loss of her arm. However, Rivet at first did not show any animosity at first, most likely because she didn’t recognize her. When Rivet told Kit her story, Kit was filled with remorse and tried to tell her, but was unable to. During a fight with Emperor Nefarious, Kit transformed into her giant mode and Rivet realized who she was, leaving her outraged. Despite this, Clank was able to convince Rivet to forgive her, though Kit still was too ashamed of her actions. Kit would eventually return for the final battle and team up with Rivet again, with the two becoming close friends much like Ratchet and Clank.

Pierre Le Fer[]

Pierre is an old and recurring rival of Rivet. They're occasional collaborators, with Pierre sometimes providing Rivet with mechanical parts she needed. The French-accented robot pirate captain fell in love and developed a crush on her at first sight, but his feelings are unrequited as the female lombax is not interested in him.

Emperor Nefarious[]

Rivet despises the evil emperor more than anything and is ready to do anything to stop him. For years in conflict with the Evil Emperor, Rivet has lost friends and indirectly her right arm to Emperor Nefarious.

Dr. Nefarious[]

She didn't really believe in the existence of the other Nefarious until she saw him in Clank's memory. Rivet describes him as as evil as Emperor Nefarious. They later clashed at Zurki's bar and Rivet managed to beat him. They have not interacted directly since then.

History[]

Background[]

Making deliveries for the Gelatonium Factory so I could save up for my own place. Man, those hours were brutal.
~ Rivet about her life on Sargasso before the resistance.

Rivet's past is hugely unknown as her childhood but similar to Ratchet, she has known no other Lombaxes than her for most of her life, making her the only living Lombax known of in her dimension. She presumably grew up on the swamp planet Sargasso and while befriended Mort when she was just a child. Afterwards, she worked as a delivery driver for the Morks working to the Gelatonium Factory. Her hard work enabled her to acquire the Outpost L51 which she quickly turned into a lair, which would in a way make Sargasso the only home she never had. She also searched for her kind for a while only to believe that they were gone forever.

At one point, Rivet began a long conflict with Emperor Nefarious lasting several years, also becoming a member of the resistance to one day free the galaxy from the tyranny of the evil robot, also losing friends in her struggle. Later, Rivet meets the bartender Zurkie while becoming a recurring opponent of Pierre Le Fer's pirates and rival/crush of their captain. Rivet would later meet an alternate Angela Cross and infiltrate Zordoom with her before losing contact for years.

One day, Rivet ventured to Nefarious Tower on her own with only a door to stand in her way. While attempting to hack the opening, the Lombax was surprised by a giant robot standing guard who subsequently bombarded her with blaster fire that Rivet was unable to dodge quickly enough, injuring her right arm. Rivet however managed to escape alive but was forced to build a new robotic arm for herself. Since this tragic event, she has been wary of robots.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart[]

Informed by the resistance, a Rivet disguised as a robot seizes the infobot accompanying the emperor's assistant during a convoy in the middle of a crowd of robots. While fleeing, she notices a civilian being chased by a minion from Nefarious, prompting her to smash the evil machine. Rivet then reveals her identity to the young girl to reassure her then gives her her helmet to help her get home and then runs away again but is quickly surrounded by Nefarious' army.

Later, Rivet encounters Clank who had just been stranded in her dimension following the explosion of the Dimensionator, an object capable of opening dimensional breaches. Noticing the poor condition of the little robot while wondering about it, Rivet picks him up and hangs him on her back before fleeing another patrol through town.

Arriving on Sargasso in her ship, Rivet does not take Clank seriously when he claims to have a friend Lombax, although she does believe that Dr. Nefarious of Clank's dimension exists but rather thinks the dimensional breaches opened randomly over the galaxy is the work of her Nefarious. They suddenly receive a message from Mort warning them of an attack in the Gelatonium Factory before the ship is struck by a Seekerpede, causing them to crash into the jungle. The duo then make their way until the Gelatonium Factory despite the acid swamp combined with the crossing of a dimensional pocket and save the Morks from the mercenaries who hunted down the Lombax and the little robot. The attackers defeated, Rivet learns from Mork that Mort and others workers have disappeared in the strange dimensional anomaly that has appeared at the factory. She touches the choose to only get a dump in her hand, so Clank offers to take a peek due to his experience with anomalies. After removing the anomaly, Rivet is delighted to see Mort again, exchanging their wrists with him while he has started repairs to her ship.

Rivet then takes Clank to her lair where she links the infobot to Clank to verify his claims, despite the robot claiming it is not necessary. On the screen, she sees both Dr. Nefarious, Ratchet to her shock because he is indeed a Lombax and the explosion of the Dimensionator. With what she just saw, Rivet finally recognizes that Clank was telling her the truth from the start.

By the resemblance between the two Nefarious, Rivet theorizes that Ratchet may be her counterpart and promises Clank that they have what is going on fixed, surprising a Clank who imagines Rivet hated robots. Rivet awkwardly claims only hated the Nefarious army and pirates before sadly remembering that she has a robotic arm. Clank feels sorry for unintentionally bringing this up but Rivet is just surprising that he feels bad as she delves into his memories. Unfortunately, the infobot releases a signal that dresses the Seekerpede at the hideout then its pilot clothes a magnetic field to retrieve the stolen robot but captures Clank instead.

Chasing the mechanical monster on the back of a flying bug, Rivet manages to beat him and hold her hand to Clank who is touched that she has returned for him. Returning to the ship, Rivet consults the emperor hitlist in the infobot database, which herself is included. After notifying the resistance about that, she tells Clank that they will fix his communicator before leaving Sargasso.

Arrived at Zurkie's Bar, Rivet is quickly approached by her old rival, Pierre Le Fer, still chatting about his crush for the female Lombax and having a booster signal that Rivet needs now so she does not hesitate for a second to provoke Pierre in combat, which Zurkie only allows in the arena to preserve his bar. Despite the pirate captain's tricks, Rivet and Clank win hands down, forcing Pierre to give up the booster. Rivet then proceeds to set up the item in Clank, allowing him to finally contact Ratchet, which leaves Rivet slightly embarrassed when speaking to him for the first time. With Dr. Nefarious now plotting in this dimension, the trio set up a plan to build a new Dimensionator: While Ratchet goes to find Prophet Gary on Savali for help, Rivet and Clank will phase quartz on Blizar Prime. At the end of the conversation, the two Lombaxes couldn't believe they had spoken to someone of their kind for the first time in a long time.

Along the way, Rivet questions Clank about the possibility of finding the other Lombaxes when they abruptly discover that Blizar Prime has been partially destroyed. Using dimensional crystals, the duo alternately change dimensions to move more easily through the mine. With the help of the chief mining engineer, Rivet and Clank finally get the ore but are suddenly attacked by the forces of Nefarious. During the confrontation, Rivet saves Clank from a laser beam at the cost of shattering the quartz. Although all seems lost, Rivet recalls that the Morts told her about someone called the Fixer who lives on Torren IV and who could possibly repair the quartz fragment.

On Torren IV, the duo learn that the Fixer has stopped working after a pirate attack. These same pirates, including Pierre, return the next moment, putting the protagonists in the wheels as they attempt to fix the Fixer. Once the Fixer starts up again, the giant robot falls into a severe depression which causes it to attack everyone with great laser shots. While trying to escape, Rivet is nearly crushed by the Fixer's finger until Clank manages to calm him down through improvisation. As a thank you, Fixer easily repairs quartz.

The objective succeeded, Rivet and Clank go to Scarstu Debris Field to find Ratchet there, much to Rivet's nervousness. When they finally meet, Rivet and Ratchet are immediately quite shy of each other. Rivet then returns Clank to Ratchet who sadly notes the loss of Clank's arm while being sure Rivet has nothing to do with it since she is him in a way. Rivet claims that it was Ratchet who may have been her before Ratchet introduced him to Kit, a Clank-like female robot he encountered earlier and who helped him rebuild the Dimensionator. The quartet is then ambushed by Dr. Nefarious and the Emperor's henchmen.

After a fierce fight, Kit-backed Rivet succeeds in bringing the evil scientist to the ground, only for the true Emperor Nefarious to step in, easily subdue the heroes with his telekinetic powers and seize the new Dimensionator. Now with two Nefarious in the same dimensions, the girls leave for Sargasso to attempt an interception while the boys find the last rebel on the headlist.

During the trip, Rivet questions Kit about the possibility that they could be a team since Ratchet and Clank are their counterparts and they get along perfectly together but Kit doubts this, deeming their current teamwork is only temporary. Arriving at Sargasso, Rivet and Kit witness a massive attack launched by a mothership of the Nefarious fleet against the Morks. After neutralizing the robots on the ground, the duo attack the battle cruisers piercing the earth's crust to destroy Sargasso, hitting the cruisers by mounting on Trudi's back. The mothership is subsequently destroyed when the last cruiser crashes into it. Rivet and Kit are cheered by the Morks moments before Emperor Nefarious moves in person to throw them into a pocket dimension. As they search for the exit, Rivet tells Kit how she lost her right arm a long time ago, ignoring Kit's involvement in it.

On returning to Zurkie's, the protagonist intercepts a broadcast by the Emperor's assistant revealing that Emperor Nefarious intends to conquer the dimensions by first finding the dimension map on Savali. Later, Rivet and Kit infiltrate the Emperor's ship just to find Gary in his place, having been questioned about the position of the dimensional map in a dimensional anomaly than Emperor Nefarious covets to conquer the other dimensions.

Unfortunately, the both Nefariouses ambush Ratchet and Clank who have just found the map on Savali and throw them into the Zordoom prison under the eyes of a hidden Rivet and Kit. While attempting to keep the evil robots from doing harm, Kit take a more imposing and powerful robotic form than a shocked Rivet recognizes before furiously realizing that it was Kit who made her lose her arm that cursed night. Despite her fiery power, Kit is also thrown at Zordoom while Rivet is not noticed by the Nefarious. Still bewildered by the disturbing truth, Rivet leaves the dimensional anomaly.

She herself infiltrates Zordoom where all of Emperor's enemies are now held and frees them all saving Clank from being dismantled. The duo find Ratchet and Kit in a secure cell in the V.I.P sector of Zordoom and manage to get them out after a few adventures in the prison. Ratchet and Kit free, Rivet asks the boys to give him a minute with Kit. Coming to contain her emotions, Rivet tries to make peace with Kit following Clank's advice but becomes very angry when a shameful Kit decides to go back into hiding instead of helping save the Multiverse. Disappointed and feeling betrayed, Rivet leaves Kit, claiming that she doesn't need a partner anyway.

Back at the station, Ratchet asserts that Kit should be with them, sparking an argument with Rivet who openly declares Kit to be dangerous. Ratchet berates Rivet for giving up all hope for Kit just because of her fear, to which she replies that unlike Ratchet who is too afraid to look for other Lombaxes, her fear makes sense. The two Lombaxes quickly apologize to each other seeing that they let fear take over. Upon entering the bar, they learn about Emperor Nefarious' immediate attack on Ratchet's home dimension. Rivet assures him, however, that she and all her allies are with him.

As the fight between the resistance and the Nefarious fleet takes a new turn after the destruction of the Emperor's giant robot, Rivet finds herself facing her nemesis more than exasperated by the interference of Lombax to the point of making come all his armies to annihilate her. Totally outnumbered, Rivet is barely saved by Kit and between them, Nefarious's army is quickly defeated. In his last entrenchments, Emperor Nefarious prepare to destroy all realities just for Kit throws Rivet in the air and she ultimately stops him with a powerful hammer blow to the face. The wounded Evil Emperor is then permanently defeated when he is forcibly taken through another dimension by a kraken.

The war finally ends and each dimensional break closed, Rivet apologizes to Kit for what she told her earlier, stating that she is her friend and then the two finally see each other as a team. Ratchet and Clank join them to take them home, with Ratchet offering a little detour on the way. Rivet asks where they're going just for Ratchet to tell her that she already knows: looking for the Lombaxes.

The post-credits scene shows Rivet, among other things, giving Clank a replacement arm similar to hers, and going through the deposed Emperor's record collection.

Reception[]

Rivet received a very positive reaction following her introduction in Rift Apart, both for her personality and for Jennifer Hale's voice acting performance.

Steve Watts, writing for GameSpot, called Rivet the real star of Rift Apart and a strong addition to the series, to the point of wishing she had her own standalone game.

He said that Hale's voice acting introduces a "disarming amount of emotional heft", successfully portraying tinges of self-doubt and loneliness even while Rivet maintains heroic determination. Jonathon Dornbush, writing for IGN, concurred, praising Hale's performance and calling Rivet one of Insomniac Games' best-written characters, saying her distinctive personality made her more than simply a gender-swap of Ratchet.

Andrew Reiner, writing for Game Informer, said that the game delivered satisfying answers to who Rivet is and what happened to her, saying she energized the story, but felt that her moveset and arsenal in gameplay being a carbon-copy of Ratchet's was a missed opportunity.

Quotes[]

Clank: What have I done?
Rivet: What have "you" done?
Clank: Who are you?
Rivet: Someone with a loooot of questions. Let's go for a ride. [Put Clank on her back]
Clank: Wait, I have to find my friend!
~ Rivet meets Clank after he's landed in her dimension.
Rivet: So, then this Dimensionator was stolen by "Dr." Nefarious...who used it to bring you here...Now you just have to find your friend who is also, "miraculously" a Lombax...to save the day?
Clank: And get home.
Rivet: You must seriously think I'm an idiot. Look. As real as I'm sure this "Dr. Nefarious" is, this has the Emperor written all over it. [Mort contact them]
Mort: Help We...under attack!...anyone!
Rivet: Mort? What's going on? [The Centipede Robot crashes into the ship]
Clank: Oh dear!
Rivet: Brace for impact!
Clank: Look out!
Rivet: What do you think I'm doing?!
~ Rivet to Clank as they arrive on Sargasso.
Clank: Why are you so hesitant to trust me?
Rivet: Look, robots aren't really my thing. Especially when they're tearing my galaxy apart.
Clank: I am not. I was trying to help Ratchet find the other lombaxes.
Rivet: We'll see the truth soon enough. Once I scan you and the infobot I found in Nefarious City.
~ Rivet still wary of Clank.
Rivet: Okay, so you were being honest.
Clank: As I have been saying. Repeatedly.
Rivet: Your Nefarious-- he looks a lot like mine. Evil like him, too. And that Lombax... I know it might sound crazy but...
Clank: ...You think he is your dimensional counterpart.
Rivet: Or something! Look, whatever's going on here, we're going to fix it.
Clank: We? I thought robots are "not your thing"?
Rivet: Not All of them, just... Most. You know, like the Emperor, his stupid followers, pirates... yeah, I see the irony too.
Clank: Oh, I apologise. I didn't mean to, uhm...
Rivet: You feel bad? Even though I just watched your brain—diary—thingy?
~ Rivet and Clank start to bond.
Rivet: You okay, bolts?
Clank: You came after me. Thank you.
Rivet: Yeah, well, we've still got some unfinished business.
~ Rivet after saving Clank.
Rivet: What's on your mind? Come on, let's hear it.
Clank: I am... feeling a bit responsible for all of this. Perhaps it is because of me that the dimensions are falling apart, that Ratchet and I are lost...
Rivet: Oh. Yeah. Well... hey your communicator's about to get fixed, so that's-- something.
Clank: Right.
~ Rivet tries to cheer Clank up.
Rivet: Eureka, she's done it.
Clank: Ratchet? Can you hear me?
Ratchet: Clank! Are you okay? Where are you?! I saw that Lombax take you...
Clank: I am fine. In fact, I am with the Lombax now.
Rivet: Hey, I'm Rivet!
Ratchet: Wha...Hi! Wow, this is--wait, ok. I have to tell you something! Dr. Nefarious just crowned himself "Emperor" of this dimension...
Rivet: He did what? Nooo, no, no. I've got my hands full with my own Nefarious.
Ratchet: That's the thing. We've gotta get him and us out of here, but without the Dimensionator...
Clank: I think we have to build a new one. I met a Prophet from Savali named Gary. He would know what to do.
Ratchet: I'm only a few sectors away from there! I can go check it out.
Rivet: What can we do?
Clank: Do you have the planet Blizar Prime in this dimension?
Rivet: Yeah, why?
Clank: We can locate the phase quartz used to power the Dimensionator there. If I am right we will be able to re-create the device in no time.
Ratchet: I guess we'd better get started, then! I'm glad you're okay, buddy.
Clank: You too, Ratchet.
Rivet & Ratchet: Be Careful out there. Whoa, another Lombax...
Rivet: Let's build this thing.
~ Rivet repairs Clank's transmitter and speaks with Ratchet for the first time.
Guess fate really loves seeing you get your butt kicked, Pierre.
~ Rivet mocking Pierre Le Fer.
Rivet: So...after this, are you and Ratchet going to the Lombax Dimension?
Clank: It is possible. But...Ratchet is uncertain. Perphaps he is afraid that...
Rivet: Wait, afraid? Why afraid?
Clank: It is...complicated.
Rivet: Huh. Well, hey, if he doesn't want to go, I will.
~ Rivet learns from Clank that Ratchet doesn't dare look for the Lombaxes.
Ratchet: Hey!
Rivet: Hey. Yes, uhm...Hi! Uhm, I have Clank...
Ratchet: Oh pal...
Clank: I am fine, Ratchet. In fact, I am begining to like my new look.
Rivet: For the record, I found him like this.
Ratchet: C'mon, I knew you wouldn't hurt Clank. Pretty sure you're ME, after all.
Rivet: Wait, what makes you so sure you're not me?!
Ratchet: Well, I mean con on! I, uh...
Rivet: ...You've got nothin'.
Ratchet: Yeah, I got nothing. Oh! Sorry, Rivet, this is--
Kit: Kit. I have been looking forward to meeting you.
Rivet: Uh, me too--
Clank: I suppose it is time to fix this mess.
~ Rivet finally meets Ratchet.
Dr. Nefarious: Does this dimension love me or what?! My problems deliver themselves RIGHT to me.
Rivet: How many times you beat this guy?
Ratchet: Clearly not enough.
Rivet: Can I try?
Ratchet: Be my guest.
~ Rivet before facing Dr. Nefarious.
Emperor Nefarious: Hahahaha. Wow, what a battle! Are we done having fun? Come on! Give it up for Rivet and her first victory! I wish I could've been here sooner. However, I am THRILLED to announce that I've finished "neutralising" my enemies...with the exception of Captain Quantum and... Anyway, when I heard that the "Rebel Lombax" was battling ME, I had to...
Rivet: Come hear the universe celebrate your defeat?
~ Rivet provokes her nemesis, Emperor Nefarious.
Rivet: The Emperor was bad enough, but now that he has the Dimensionator...
Kit: We will not lose your friends.
Rivet: So... if Ratchet is an alternate dimension me, and Clank is an alternate dimension you... Were we "meant" to team up too?
Kit: They do seem...happy together.
Rivet: Yeah... Guess being on my own is just what I'm used to.
Kit: Me too.
Rivet: So maybe this is just...
Kit: Temporary.
~ Rivet on the perspective that she and Kit might team up in their dimension.
Kit: Run.
Rivet: Run? This is our last chance to stop him!
Kit: Sorry. [Kit take her Warbot form.]
Rivet: You. [Falls on the ground and looks at her robotic arm] It was you.
~ Rivet discovers that Kit is the one who caused the loss of her right arm.
Rivet: You scared me. I'd let you rest, but we don't have a lot of time...
Clank: You got here quickly. Thank you. They took Ratchet and Kit through that door... something about Maximum security.
Rivet: We'll catch up to them. And, um... I'm glad you're alright, Clank.
~ Rivet after rescuing Clank for the second time.
Rivet: Hey, it's all falling apart! Just like the dimensions! I tought Kit was my friend but she's a liar liar pants on fire.
Clank: She seems to deeply regret it! Now keep moving!
Rivet: Maaaybbeee. We're not gonna make it...
~ Rivet expressing her mixed feelings towards Kit while under the effect of laughing gas.
Rivet: Clank told me I should try to forgive you...I uhm...
Kit: I am going back to Savali. I never should have--
Rivet: Wait...you're just gonna hide again? Now?
Kit: I am very...truly, I am sorry, Rivet. For everything. I...I am not a good partner...
Rivet: Well-- maybe you could be! If you'd stopped to help me that night instead of running away, things could have been different. Or if you just told the truth! Maybe...
Kit: Why do none of you understand?! I am broken. I will always BE broken!
Rivet: Fine. Go hide. We have a universe to save...Universes. Whatever. I don't need a partner, anyway.
~ Rivet gets angry with Kit when she decides to give up the fight.
Ratchet: Kit should be here.
Rivet: She didn't want to be.
Ratchet: Only because she thinks she's dangerous!
Rivet: And maybe she is!
Ratchet: So you're just gonna give up on her? Because you're afraid?
Rivet: Says the big hero who's too scared to look for the other Lombaxes?! At least my fear makes sense!
Both: Sorry, I...Sorry.
~ Rivet and Ratchet argue briefly about Kit and the Lombaxes.
This is the part where YOU lose!
~ Rivet smash Emperor Nefarious' face.
Rivet: Hey...I'm sorry for what I said before. You're my friend, and...thank you. For coming back
Kit: Team?
Rivet: Team.
Ratchet: I guess it's time to go home, huh?
Rivet: Yeah. Our dimension could use a couple heroes right about now.
Ratchet: Well...How would you two feel about making a pit stop on the way?
Rivet: Where're we headed?
Ratchet: I think you know.
~ Rivet reconciles with Kit before she and her new friends begin a new journey to Rift Apart's end.

Trivia[]

  • Rivet has undergone a slight facelift compared to her introduction in the game's first trailer.
  • Although she claims to have had her arm cut off, the flashback shows Rivet running away with her right arm injured by Kit's laser.
  • Rivet is similar to Ratchet during his first appearance, Rivet had negative traits which then faded upon contact with Clank. The difference being that Ratchet was at the same time selfish, arrogant, pessimistic, and lonely while Rivet was lonely and slightly pessimistic but not indifferent to the infelicity of others and easily more social than him, though she is wary of robots and tends to let fear cloud her judgment, at least until she gets over that.
  • Unlike Ratchet, Rivet seems to really want to find the other Lombaxes. This is especially shown when she accuses Ratchet of being too afraid to seek out the other Lombaxes.
  • Rivet is the only lombax other than Ratchet seen in the present to also have not been a villain.
  • Of the six Concept Arts of the character, the last five represented Rivet under appearances and ability quite distant from her final design, including a more colossal and enraged form, a blind warrior using telepathy, a scientist, a cold individual with two robotic arms, a handcuffed prisoner, a fully robotic lombax, a child riding a robot and a savage warrior wielding a spear. Also, the photo frame of Rivet with the resistance on Sargasso is from another unused Art.
  • Rivet proves to be a good dancer, the player being able to make her dance at Zurki's Bar, including shuffle dance, carlton dance and breakdance.
