Roan was a recurring character in season three and a main protagonist in season four of the CW show, The 100.

He was portrayed by Zach McGowan.

Description[]

He was part of the Ice Nation, being the son of Queen Nia. Roan was banished and became a bounty hunter, obsessed with finding Wanheda to be reinstated. Roan is loyal to his people and knows how to trust Skaikru, unlike some in his nation.

History[]

Season 3[]

Roan first appears with other Grounders, looking for Clarke in Niylah's tavern. He questions the latter who tells him that she passed there two days ago. At night, Clarke is captured by Roan who was hiding in the woods and drags her to a river. The two briefly fight each other and take him to an old subway station so that he can heal himself after being injured. Bellamy comes to help Clarke is stabbed in the leg by Roan so that he does not follow them anymore and the duo go to Polis. There, Roan asks for his ban to be lifted, but Lexa refuses. At a meeting of the Twelve Clans, Lexa orders the arrest of Agzeda and Roan's delegation after Echo's betrayal.

In the next episode, Nia stages a Coup to overthrow the Commander by daring him to fight her son Roan. But during the fight, it is Nia that Lexa kills and Roan is crowned king of Azgeda.

However, he accepts that Ontari can be queen in her place as she is also from the Ice Nation and helps Clarke and Murphy escape Polis through the tunnels. He also informs that the next time he sees Clarke, "it won't be as friends". Back in the palace, he threatens Titus and asks him where Wanheda is, although he knows she stole the Flame. The late Commander's advisor commits suicide by slitting his throat with Roan's knife, and Roan's mission is to find Clarke for Ontari.

In the woods, Roan saves Clarke's life a second time as she was attacked by soldiers chipped by A.L.I.E.. The two unite once again to return to Polis and return the Flame. They hatch a plan that fails when Roan is shot by Kane and Jaha has Clarke captured.

Season 4[]

Recovering from his injury, he becomes Acting Commander of the Flame in exchange for the alliance with Skaikru as the thirteenth clan. He gives these people time to find a solution to the survival of the Praimfaya, a second nuclear apocalypse. However, he quickly breaks the alliance when he learns that Skaikru is harboring Luna, the only known Nightblood, and that they are protecting Station Alpha.

Roan then makes a deal with Clarke to share Alpha Station, just before Ilian sets the location on fire. Then, he works with Clarke and Bellamy to retrieve the hydrazine and witnesses a betrayal of his own clan, leading to the murder of two of his warriors.

Towards the end of the season, he participates in the Conclave which will share the clans that will have to live in the Second Dawn bunker. He then allies with Octavia to kill Luna. As radioactive rain falls, Roan is weakened and drowned in a fountain by Luna, immune from her blood.

Season 7[]

On Sanctum, because of the Red Sun toxin, Echo hallucinates Roan who calls her a spy and a killer.
