Roary the Racing Car is the main protagonist of the 2007 Channel 5 children's stop motion-animated series of the same name. He is a British single-seater racing car. He loves to race and even though he’s the youngest car on the track, he wants to be the fastest car at Silver Hatch. Sometimes he goes too fast and gets in trouble with Big Chris, the mechanic of Silver Hatch. His friend Cici is a really cool stunt car and she can drive on just two wheels! He likes to argue with Maxi about who's best.
He is voiced by Maria Darling, who also voices Cici/Zizzy and Marsha.
Appearance[]
Roary's signature colors are red and white. He wears a white baseball cap with a checkered pattern at the bottom and a red star emblazoned with the number 1 at the top which normally flaps in the wind when racing. Roary is occasionally Cici/Zizzy and FB/Trucksy's best friends and always wants to play with them. He is based on the Formula Ford 1500.
Personality[]
Roary has the spirit and sense of a young boy whose boundless enthusiasm and curiosity often leads him into trouble. However, he has a heart of chrome under his bonnet and he's always willing to make amends. He is so full of energy and has the mindset of a schoolboy. He is the youngest of the cars. There is a sibling rivalry between Maxi and Roary. They compete over everything. Roary does not like it when Maxi bullies him, but he will occasionally bully him as well. However, most of the time, they are shown to be good friends with each other. Roary can occasionally be slightly rebellious, and can be a bit disobedient as in the episodes "Roary and Nigel" and "Putting on a Show", but has a good heart and is the most sensible of the cars, and encourages everyone to never give up when they're down. He often assumes a role of leadership among the other cars. Overall, Roary is very altruistic, optimistic and playful with a heart of chrome and enjoys racing around the track, always finds a solution to everything and is a true number one star.

- Roary has five different names apart from English and Scandinavian when he is spelled Rorri: in the Finnish dub, he is called Lauri, in the Polish dub, he is called Rajdek, in the Arabic dub, he is called Ramah (رماح), in the Hebrew dub, he is called Barak (המירוץ) and in the Korean dub, he is called Kaka (카카). In the last name, it is more like a parrot called New Zealand kākā (Nestor meridionalis).
- He holds the fastest record on Silver Hatch.
- Although Roary is a male, he is voiced by a female. He is also the only male character in the series voiced by an actress.
- He has the most nicknames, with seventeen in total.
- He is shown to be ticklish, because he giggles when Big Chris is fixing his engine and even says, "That tickles!"
- He is also the main character, therefore he has the most episodes devoted to him.
- He and Maxi are the only cars to wear headwear on their driver seats.
- He is one of the many characters not having a different name in the US dub.
- Though "Light them up!" is Roary's catchphrase, characters like Maxi, Cici/Zizzy and Flash/Furzz have used it.
- He and Rusty are the only Roary the Racing Car vehicles that appeared in the "The Official BBC Children in Need Medley". Roary had the most appearances of the two, since Rusty is only seen sleeping at the start.
- Roary was green in the pilot.
- Roary has a teddy bear named Luigi.
- In the original UK dub, he speaks with the same accent as Tyrone in the UK dub of The Backyardigans.
- He has been inspired by Lightning McQueen since both of them are red-colored race cars that at first they were rookies, but later they became racing champions of the world.
