Robert Gonzales was an agent who dedicated his life to S.H.I.E.L.D. He was the leader of a faction of S.H.I.E.L.D. after it was infiltrated by HYDRA. After the HYDRA Uprising, Gonzales came into conflict with Phil Coulson, who had rebuilt S.H.I.E.L.D. and had become its new director.
He was portrayed by Edward James Olmos.
Biography
During his career as an agent, Gonzales met Phil Coulson at the Triskelion. After HYDRA revealed its existence inside S.H.I.E.L.D., he sent Bobbi Morse and Alphonso Mackenzie to infiltrate Coulson's team to get the toolbox Nick Fury had entrusted Coulson with. When Lance Hunter discovered the true alliegance of Morse and Mackenzie, Gonzales came onto the Illiad to speak with them. Gonzales explained to Hunter what the real S.H.I.E.L.D. was and that it carried no secrets. After Hunter's escape from the real S.H.I.E.L.D., Gonzales asked Morse how they should act, to which Morse replied that the real threat was Coulson and his secrets and that they must stop the threat.
After his men took control of Coulson's facility, Gonzales asked Coulson to open Fury's toolbox. When Coulson refused this request, Gonzales asked that the toolbox be carried to Agent Anne Weaver.
