You're running away. I tried that. You know what I found out? Sometimes you just have to look up and face your problems.
~ Robin Hood to Alice in their cursed personas

Robin Hood (known as Margot West under the Dark curse) is a major protagonist in the fairytale drama, Once Upon a Time. She is the daughter of the late Robin Hood and Zelena, the niece of Regina Mills and the adopted cousin Henry Mills.

Since her debut in the episode "Birth", Robin has been depicted as a baby. In the seventh season, she is reintroduced as an adult. Robin grew up to be a skilled archer and hero just like her father and at the end of the series, becomes engaged to her girlfriend, Alice Jones.

She is portrayed by Tiera Skovbye while her younger self is portrayed by co-star Abigayle Laura Mutch.

History[]

After Second Curse[]

During Emma and Hook's time-traveling adventure, Zelena secretly followed them. After learning they intended to bring Marian back to the future with them, Zelena kills the woman and takes her form to ruin her sister's happiness. Under this ruse, Zelena puts a wedge in Regina's and Robin's happiness. In the ultimate act of revenge, Zelena becomes pregnant with Robin's baby. Since Robin can't bring himself to leave her, despite being disgusted by Zelena's trickery. Regina, Emma and Lily are forced to bring Zelena with them and she is locked up in the psychiatric ward in the hospital until the baby is born.

Before Third Curse[]

Zelena tries multiple times to escape because she sees her unborn child she will ever have at a conditional love: first, by escaping from her cell and taking Robin Hood hostage in exchange for the wand. However, when she uses the wand to create the portal to Oz, Zelena unwittingly drained her magic. However, Regina uses the magic cuff to render Zelena powerless again.

Personality[]

Robin is an adventurous young woman and fights in the name of her father, and can be quite as honorable as he can. Despite Robin not knowing her father, she grew up surrounded by the love of the people he gave his life for. She also has a close relationship with her aunt Regina. She even gave Robin her grandmother's spell book before Regina departed to help Henry in the New Enchanted Forest.

She is also fairly sarcastic like Zelena is and often refers to pop culture, even comparing her and Zelena as Beyonce and Blue Ivy. As Robin grew older, she wanted to leave Storybrooke, starting with Robin trying to steal the sheriff's car before Emma stopped her. Despite being haughty and arrogant, Robin is still selfless and caring, as she willingly gave up her magic so Zelena could use it to reignite her own. She later returned to her hometown for aid when Robin and Alice's family was trapped in the rush realm.

Relationships[]

Alice[]

Robin and Alice initially did not get along when they first met because of their disagreement at how to deal with Alice's troll friend. Ultimately, Robin chose to side with Alice's over the villagers by defending the troll.

By the time the curse was cast, Robin and Alice were happy together. It was also apparent that Robin's arrogance has mellowed ever since she and Alice began a romantic relationship. However, the two lovers were eventually separated due to Regina casting the Dark Curse to save Henry's life. They were unknowingly reunited when Robin (as Margot) returned to Seattle and saved Alice(Tilly) when are walked out on the street.

Powers and Abilities[]

  • Archery: A hereditary skill that Robin seemed to inherited from her father.

Former Powers[]

  • Magic: Due to being the granddaughter of Cora and daughter of Zelena, Robin used to have the aptitude for magic.

Trivia[]

  • Robin Hood is based on the titular character from the Robin Hood ballads.
    • This is also one of the few adaptations to depict Robin Hood as a female.
  • In the Disney adaptation, Robin Hood: Princess of Thieves, Robin Hood has a daughter named Gwyn. Presumingly, that's who she is also based off of.
  • Robin's bow and arrow are the same ones that Sean Maguire used when he played Robin's father and the Wish Realm version of him, Robin of Locksley.
  • Robin's alias, Margot, is possibly a reference to Margot Kidder, who narrated several Wizard of Oz novels, which is fitting since her mother is the Wicked Witch of the West.
  • Fans were quick to put together Robin would be part of the LGTBTQ+ couple mentioned for Season 7; seeing as it was mentioned an adult version of her would appear.
    • It makes some sense they ended up together, Robin was raised on Earth, where the concept is very open by the 2020s; Alice had no concept of tradition couples due to be locked up most of her life.
