One day I'll be a real knight, then watch out!
~ Robin at the end of Brave and Bold (and Short) Sir Robin

Sir Robin Underwood is a secondary protagonist of the LEGO Nexo Knights TV series. He is a student in the Knights' Academy who wishes to become a true knight one day. Throughout the series, he and his classmate Ava Prentis support the five Nexo Knights in their battles against Jestro and his monsters, providing them with gadgets. Robin eventually becomes able to fight monsters as well with the help of his machines.

He was voiced by Erin Mathews, who voiced Macy Halbert in the same series.

Biography[]

Nexo Knights[]

Seasons 1-2[]

Robin Underwood was the son of the maintenance man at the royal castle and learned the mechanic skills from his father. Eventually, he and Ava Prentis enrolled in the Knights' Academy. and got caught up into the conflict between the graduated Nexo Knights and the fallen royal jester Jestro and his army of Lava Monsters. After discovering the thought to be deceased wizard Merlok inside the royal castle's computer systems, he and Ava joined the knights and assisted them by creating numerous devices which helped them fight monsters, from the mobile fortress Fortrex to the Ultra Armor. Robin, however, felt unsatisfied due to the knights never letting him take part in the battles, but he eventually had to put his engineering and fighting skills to test after the knights had seemingly turned evil, creating the Black Knight suit. Eventually, he and Ava were given the titles of junior knights for their contribution to combating Jestro's threat.

During the final battle against the Lava Monsters, Robin delivers the Techcalibur and Merlok 2.0 inside it to Clay, who uses it to strike and destroy the Book of Monsters.

Seasons 3-4[]

After the Book of Monsters returned as the Cloud of Monstrox and unleashed his Stone Monsters, Robin created the Triangulator to generate Combo Nexo Powers and help the Nexo Knights fight the monsters with more efficiency. He also made a battle mech for Clay Moorington after he started succumbing to his curse, later making similar suits for other Nexo Knights. He was hurt by Clay fully turning into stone, as he considered the knight his hero.

Eventually, Robin was assigned by Merlok to work on a very secret project, which later turned out to be the Rumble Rocket. After Clay came back to life and was sent on an undercover mission, the boy tagged along with the knight, but blew his cover and nearly got both Clay and himself killed.

As Monstrox turned into the Colossus of Ultimate Destruction, Robin was forced to complete the Rumble Rocket earlier than intended, depriving himself of sleep for several days straight. He and Ava assisted Nexo Knights in their final battle against Monstrox by piloting the rocket, with the knights defeating the villain for good. After their victory, Robin immediately fell asleep due to exhaustion.

LEGO Nexo Knights magazine (non-canon)[]

Robin had grown up significantly by the time Monstrox came back as a digital virus, allowing him to be more active in battle. To battle the necromancer's digital infection, he created the desinfecting machine, which he eventually got to test on Dennis, who had been turned into a CyberByter by Monstrox, curing him successfully.

After the King and Queen got trapped in the former's mech which went on a rampage due to getting infected by Monstrox's virus and Macy, who was left in charge of the kingdom, felt like she should've taken part in the fight directly, Robin encouraged her to tend to her royal duties instead. The two helped organize Knightonia's defenses as Monstrox's InfectoByters attacked it, and later the boy used his jetpack to distract the King's mech and break the royal couple out, taking them to safety.

Robin isn't seen taking part in the final battle against Monstrox's forces or after its end, leaving his fate unknown.

Personality[]

Despite his young age and moderate physical skills, Robin is eager to become a hero and takes the chance to fight whenever he is allowed to (and even when he isn't). While he always means well, this eagerness had put him in danger more than once, with the adult knights having to rescue him each time. Being good with gadgets, he is more than glad to provide the knights with technological equipment, from weapons to means of transportation, whenever they need it. He also seems to be on good terms with the Squirebots he works with and quite concerned about their well-being, despite occasionally using them as live ammunition, as he offers them a break whenever he sees them tired, and even offered Robot Hoodlum to fix the abandoned robots the robber was taking care of, only asking him to stop stealing from the rich in return.

Trivia[]

  • His name and the chicken crest he wears are a reference to a character from Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-As-Sir-Lancelot. The two characters even have vague physical resemblance of each other.
    • His Black Knight persona references a character of the same name from the same film. A lot of his dialogue ("None shall pass!", "It's just a mech wound", "I can still bite you!") and the fate of his mech in its debut appearance are also references to the character.
  • Despite it being his most common physical minifigure variant, his black armor never appeared in the series.
  • While the 2018 comics treat Robin's taller leg piece in the 2018 wave of sets as a sign of him having grown up, Tommy Andreasen stated that the original idea was that he would simply make a new set of robotic legs for himself, which is supported by the draft script for the Season 5 opening taking place shortly after the end of Season 4.
