Rontu is a supporting character in the second season of Ninjago: Dragons Rising. A female dragon from the Realm of Oni and Dragons, she is a martial arts teacher who lives in a training plateau in the Wyldness together with Egalt and they are both known as the Dragon Masters, who are famously known for defeating the Forbidden Five, a group of powerful but evil elemental masters, through the usage of a special martial arts technique called Rising Dragon, which can counter Shatterspin, a forbidden type of Spinjitzu performed by the Forbidden Five and the Wolf Clan. With the aid of Bonzle, a living spell created by the high sorceress Gandalaria, Rontu and Egalt banished the Forbidden Five to a dimension known as the Nether-Space, so they will never terrorize the 16 realms of Ninjago ever again.
The Dragon Masters also erased every trace of the Forbidden Five from history and sealed off the Shadow Dojo, the Forbidden Five's home and base of operations. Thousands of years later, Rontu and Egalt were sought by the ninja for their help in stopping Lord Ras, Jordana and Cinder from freeing Forbidden Five during the Ritual of the Blood Moon. However, because they are now thousands of years old and no longer have the strength to fight, the Dragon Masters trained the ninja to learn how to master the Rising Dragon Technique so that they could the Wolf Clan from freeing the Forbidden Five.
Rontu is voiced by Kazumi Evans, who also voiced Wyldfyre in the same series, Iris in Lolirock, Skipper Roberts in the Barbie series, Harmony in Barbie: Princess Charm School, Rarity's singing voice in My Little Pony: Equestria Girls, Felicity Fox in Enchantimals, Queen Sarai in The Dragon Prince, and Rouge the Bat in Sonic Prime.

Rontu is a wise, gentle and encouraging dragon who is welcoming and friendly towards not only dragons but also humans, unlike with Egalt, who is both harsh, stern and serious and prefers only accepting dragon students and rejecting anyone who are non-dragon.
