Sergeant Rooker is a supporting character of the 2008 first-person shooter Call of Duty: World at War who was a soldier, particularly a radioman and a submachine gunner, in the United States Marine Corps.

Biography[]

Little is known about his past, though he was born in America and joined the United States Marine Corps shortly after the United States declared war on Japan. He is a radioman and submachine gunner on Sullivan's rescue team, which was assigned to Makin Atoll in search of the missing soldiers. His rescue of C. Miller was successful; however, later in their assault, they discovered several dead bodies of Japanese soldiers and he was instructed by Roebuck to communicate with the other Marines before discovering it was a trap after a flare was shot, blinding the group, which ultimately injured Rooker and caused him to become unconscious after being stabbed by a Japanese soldier, and his unconscious body was left by the group. He recovers shortly after and was promoted to the rank of sergeant. He later on goes back to service, appearing in the mission "Relentless" where he assists Miller and the team in taking out the Japanese soldiers in the caves. He no longer appears after this mission, although he does survive the events.

Trivia[]

After being stabbed by a Japanese soldier in the mission "Semper Fi," when the player looks at Rooker's unconscious body, his name tag does not appear (as this commonly means that the soldier is dead), despite the fact that he has not died, as he reappears in the mission "Relentless."
- While never confirmed, it's possible that he actually died after being stabbed, which means that his character in the mission "Relentless" could be a whole different character who just so happens to have the same name.
He wields a Thompson gun in "Semper Fi," an M1 Garand during the mission "Relentless" and, like most of AI soldiers, he may draw his M1911 in combat.
