RoseNoble

Rose Noble is the transgender daughter of Donna Noble and Shawn Temple, and a supporting character Doctor Who 2023 60th anniversary specials and Series 14.

She is played by Yasmin Finney.

History[]

Youth[]

Born male under the name of Jason Noble, Jason was was raised in a loving home with his mother and father, along with his maternal grandmother and great grandfather. Due to inheriting part of the Meta-Crisis from Donna, Jason always felt like an outsider and never fitting in; the Doctor's subconscious memories having also passed down.

At some point, Donna was attempting to teach Jason how to play recorder, but this called Jason to snap and shout "this isn't me". That began Jason opening up about not identifying as male and his family's help into transitioning to female presenting with doctors, therapists, voice coaches and hormone treatments. The new female name she chose after transitioning was "Rose", due to the influence of the Meta-Crisis. Bullies would mock Rose by using her birth name, but she paid them no mind; even though it angered Donna that her child was being taunted.

Adolescence[]

When Wilfred became too old to handle the stairs and needed a wheelchair, Rose and her family despaired at finding an affordable retirement home for him. To their luck, Kate Stewart of UNIT offered to pay for it, telling them that it was the least that could be done for an old soldier who served his country; unaware that it was repayment for his helping to stopping the Saxon Master from taking over the world in 2009.

Rose helped her family financially by creating strange stuffed toys and selling them online; unaware she was subconsciously designing them off of creatures from the Doctor's memories. Some customers being as far away as Abu Dhabi. She created them all in a work shop kept in a shed in the backyard, which she had unintentionally designed after the TARDIS.

Meeting the Meep[]

Donna disappears and the Giggle[]

When Donna attempted to visit Wilf via TARDIS, she accidentally damaged the new console with coffee, causing it to sputter out of 2023. Despite the concern, Rose was assured by her great grandfather that Donna and the Doctor would return safely. When everyone began losing their sanity to inflated ego, Rose was warned by Wilf to stay bunkered down with Sylvia and Shawn until the crisis past; he would stay vigil and wait for the Doctor to return.

Gaining an honorary uncle[]

When the Fourteenth Doctor retired, Rose was happy that he adopted her family as his own; even being treated to small trips in time by her new uncle.

Sutekh Lives[]

Likely through her mother, whom was hired during the ordeal against the Celestial Toymaker, Rose was also recruited as a statistician for UNIT. When the Fourteenth Doctor and Ruby Sunday arrived to investigate the mystery of Susan Triad, Rose and Ruby would team up to visit Ruby's adoptive mother, before returning to headquarters with mother in tow.

At Susan Triad's presentation, the Doctor and Mel were confronted by the revelation that the ancient Osiran Sutekh the Destroyer had returned despite his death at the hands of the Fourth Doctor.

Upon the TARDIS in UNIT headquarters, Sutekh revealed himself, and unleashed his Dust of Death, which killed all present, including Rose.

Fortunately, the Doctor was able to tether Sutekh by the TARDIS, traveling through the time vortex to reverse the universal death the god caused, including everyone in UNIT, such as Kate Stewart and Rose, too.

Personality[]

Rose was often bright and wanting to help others, but had to deal with the stigma of being trans due to her intolerant classmates; the Meta-Crisis influencing her, she showed kindness and a forgiving nature. Though she is not above being offended when others presume another's gender identity; even using it to tease the Fourteenth Doctor about his inability to realize the solution to the Meta-Crisis.

Rose enjoyed sewing strange stuffed toys, which she sold online to help her family financially; she was good enough for the toys to be popular.

Trivia[]

  • Donna refuses to give Rose "Noble-Temple" as a last name because it sounded like an old ruin.
  • She is the third child of a companion to interact with the Doctor, after Luke who was adopted by Sarah Jane Smith, and Melody Pond born to Amy and Rory (although, coincidentally, Melody also had a name change, which was to River Song, however, instead of gender identification, it was due to alien language barriers)
