~ Rose of Purity’s description. |
The Rose of Purity was a benevolent entity found in Marvel comics, debuting in Defenders I #107, it was a gigantic alien flower of magical nature that acted as a deity of purity in a realm known as the Wasteland, protected by Zaffer and Damask, who shared a beneficial symbiotic relationship with their "god" that kept their realm in a state of near-perfect "paradise".
History[]
The Rose of Purity was the last of a race of powerful beings who were once very numerous, for many years the Rose was alone on its world until an alien ship crashed, the Rose cared for the two survivors and provided them with love, peace and tranquility, in exchange these two aliens (Zaffer and Damask) provided the Rose with happiness and acts of purity, which helped the Rose to grow and flourish.
Unfortunately, the peace of this world would be shattered when Amora the Enchantress set her eyes on the Rose of Purity as part of her many schemes, setting the Defenders to capture the Rose under threat of slaying Valkyrie if they did not do as she "requested".
While at first the Defenders were greeted kindly Zaffer flew into a rage upon realizing their intent to "steal" his "god", sadly Hulk provoked further conflict alongside Namor and the Son of Satan, the violence caused great pain to the Rose of Purity and it appeared to perish, the world becoming barren as a result and Hellcat finally managed to stop the fighting, the heroes realizing they were destroying an innocent world.
After the fighting stopped Zaffer lamented the "death" of the Rose, only for the world to return to its former paradise-like state as the Rose of Purity revealed it had feigned its death to stop the battle and while their fighting had pained, it the entity wanted to teach them the value of peace.
Zaffer and Damask would ask the Defenders to stay with them in this new paradise and for some time the heroes seemed to agree, however Doctor Strange would inevitably call them away from this world to help deal with the Enchantress.
It is assumed the Rose of Purity and its followers remain safely in their paradise-home to this day, free from further attacks.
Abilities[]
The Rose of Purity was a very powerful magical entity that fed off positive emotions and acts, thus it could turn entire worlds into paradise-like realms and provide anything its followers may desire, it also had great telepathic and empathy abilities - though this was also its greatest weakness as negative emotions and violent acts could greatly hurt it.
In addition, it seems the Rose is immortal, having already existed for more than 100,000 years - it can bestow similar immortality to its followers.
