Rotom, also known as the Rotom Pokédex, or the Rotom Dex, is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Lillie) of the 2016 3DS videogames Pokémon Sun & Pokémon Moon and their 2017 remakes Pokémon Ultra Sun & Pokémon Ultra Moon, and appears also as one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Lillie again) of Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon. Rotom Pokédexes are devices in the Alola region that functions like a Pokédex, but this time, the Rotom can talk to the user it is with.
In the anime, he is voiced by Daisuke Namikawa in the Japanese dub, and by Roger Callagy in the English dub.
Personality[]
Rotom has a cheerful personality. He is kind and caring, and never wants to let the player down.
Biography[]
Pokémon Sun and Moon[]
The player first receives the Rotom Dex from Professor Kukui. A Rotom is put into the player's Pokédex, and the Pokédex comes to life.
Rotom, along with the player, befriends Hau and Lillie on Melemele Island. He helps the player get through their Island Challenge and help go through challenges such as defeating Totem Gumshoos/Raticate and Island Kahuna Hala. In Hau'oli city, Rotom gains its Poké Finder ability and takes a picture of the player, Hau, and Lillie.
Rotom helps the player defeat members of the evil organization Team Skull, along with its leader Guzma.
When Lillie is kindapped and taken to Aether Paradise, Rotom, along with the player, Hau, and Gladion infiltrate the paradise and battle Lusamine. After the battle, the player, Rotom, and Lillie go to Poni Island to get to the Altar of the Sunne, where they meet Hapu once again. Once they all get to the Altar, the player and Lillie play the Sun and Moon flute to turn Cosmoem into Solgaleo/Lunala, and they, along with Rotom, go into Ultra Space to fight Lusamine and bring her back to Alola.
After the defeat of Lusamine, Rotom and the player go to the Pokémon League. After battling the elite four, the player and Rotom go to the champion's room where the player battles Kukui for the title of champion.
Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon[]
Rotom plays the same role in this game, but this time Rotom has the Roto Loto feature, which lets the player get a special ability from Rotom for help.
Rotom also helps the player defeat Team Rainbow Rocket and Giovanni in the post-game episode.
