And what's right and wrong is thicker than blood!
~ Rubberband Man to Ebon

Adam Evans, better known as Rubberband Man, is the supporting character of the cartoon series, Static Stock. He is a metahuman whose body structure consists of shapeable rubber. He is the younger brother of Static's archenemy, Ebon. Rubberband Man first appears as a villain when he goes after an opportunistic record producer who stole one of his songs. He subsequently breaks out of prison but decides not to pursue a criminal career, however; he begins dating Virgil's sister Sharon, and although he initially clashes with Static, he reforms and becomes one of his allies in crime-fighting.

He is voiced by Kadeem Hardison.

History[]

Shortly after discovering his powers, Adam tried to use them to take revenge on a record producer who had plagiarized his music and gave it to an uprising rapper named Ice Pack as a hit single. While Static was able to stop Rubberband Man, Adam saw Static as more of a nuisance than an actual opponent.

Shortly afterward, Adam escaped from prison and tried to follow up with his music career under the alias "Stringer", and even dated Virgil's sister, Sharon for a while. Then Virgil inadvertently blew his cover. Adam turned himself in after stopping bounty hunters Puff and Onyx, in order to finish doing his time and pay his debt to society.

Later on, when Adam was released for good behavior, Rubberband Man became a superhero like Static, somewhat putting Static in his shadow for a bit. This caught Ebon's eye too, and he tried to have his brother join his gang, first by having Adam save him from Static, then by framing Adam for breaking his partners in crime—Talon, Shiv, Aquamaria and Carmen Dillo—out of prison. Hunted by the police, Rubberband Man had no choice but to join Ebon. However, Static quickly found out about Ebon's plan and helped Adam clear his name, with the two heroes ultimately becoming allies.

Adam secretly struggled with dyslexia, which he worked hard to overcome in the process of helping Static and Gear solve a particularly difficult case.

Whether or not Adam retained his powers after the Bang Baby "cure" was distributed throughout Dakota was never revealed.

Appearance[]

Adam appears to be African American who has short black hair as opposed to his brother Ivan who has his hair tied in five braids to make him almost bald.

As Rubberband Man during the first and second season, he was seen wearing a skin tight violet catsuit with a white belt to his waist and white shoes. He also wears a matching head mask with five white streaks on his head. In the fourth season, his catsuit is now the same color as his brother Ivan in his shadow form which is black in purple hue and maintains his white belt and boots and he is not wearing a head mask.

Powers & Abilities[]

Rubberband Man vs

Rubberband Man/Adam using his rubber powers to subdue Aquamaria.

Rubberband Man was made of rubber, and could change his own body in any shape, much like Elongated Man and Plastic Man. This also makes him a particularly tough opponent for Static, as Rubberband Man is mostly immune to Static's electrical powers. In "They're Playing My Song", Rubberband Man demonstrated an absolute level of shapeshifting by taking on the form of a woman, having even changed his colors accordingly.

Personality[]

Adam is a kind and good-hearted person at his core showing how he first encountered Static, even though he tried to intervene he spared him knowing he's not the enemy. His kindness is deeply shown in his civilian life being helpful to everyone especially to Sharon and Virgil. His kindness however can be clouded by his vengeance. He feels that any person that wronged him or ruin him needs to be punished. He mends this flaw and becomes Dakota's second superhero who works with Static, making genuine effort to atone for his crimes by aiding the cops.
