Rudo Surebrec is the main protagonist of the 2022 dark fantasy manga series Gachiakuta and its 2025 anime adaptation series. He is a young orphan who had been abandoned when his parents were accused of murder before being found and raised by Regto. His life only gets worse as he is falsely accused and framed for Regto's death, leading the residents of his village to throwing him out of the Sphere, sending him into the Ground.
He is voiced by Aoi Ichikawa and YĆ Taichi as a young in Japanese and Bryson Baugus and Dee Meo as a young in English.
Appearance[]
Rudo is a boy in his mid-teen years with large menacing red eyes and messy white hair with black tips. From his elbows to down to his fingertips, his arms are both severely wounded, which were caused by the abusive parents he had, leading him to cover them with bandages.
Rudo's Sphere attire is comprised of a bulky beige-colored vest with Shide-shaped patterns in the middle, a hood with orange parts below, thin black sleeves, a pair of large black gloves. His legs wear pants of the same beige colors as his vest and pants of dark shades with sharp golden horn-like features around them.
The utilitarian-looking new attire he received from the Givers is comprised of a bulky, industrial-style outfit consisting of gray and red colors. The jacket has a high collar and various straps and buckles, look. His pants are loose-fitting, with multiple pockets and reinforced knees, adding to the rugged appearance.
Personality[]
Scarred by parental neglect and mistreatment, Rudo evolved into a reserved and reclusive individual, harboring deep-seated anguish and fury that relentlessly smolders within. After being falsely framed over Regto's murder, with Chiwa herself labeling him a killer, Rudo faced banishment, which extinguished any remaining faith in his humanity, kindling a fervent desire for vengeance. Rudo developed a peculiar fascination with garbages, often recycling them. Rudo's emotional investment in friends is so strong that it often leaves him feeling guilt-ridden and helpless when he could not shield them from harm. For instance, he plunged into despair upon assuming that Griss was slain by Jabber Wonger but soon recovered upon learning of his survival.
He vowed to return to Heaven, slaughter every single one of the Celestials to make them pay for deeming him filthy by casting him into the Abyss. His tragic past instilled profound distrust in others initially, with his interactions being solely driven by his ambition to reclaim his place in Heaven. However gradually, Rudo forged meaningful friendships with the Cleaners individuals of the Abyss. According to Semiu, Rudo harbored a growing internal affliction, akin to a curse, amplified by accumulating hatred. This manifested vividly when, freed from Amo's influence, he immediately retaliated with violence.

- Watchman Series "3R" Gloves: A pair of grey gloves given to him by Regto at a young age to protect his damaged hands, which later becomes his main vital instrument, Rudo has described that his hands will not hurt unless he takes them off. The gloves are part of series of mysterious vital instruments known as the Watchman Series which all have the mysterious symbol comprised of circles on them. Rudo's power to turn essentially any objects into vital instruments may have something to do with himself as well as this pair of gloves. He can make up to three objects into vital instruments or create one extremely powerful vital instrument by focusing his Anima into it, as seen from him modifying a nailgun to an uzi and then a huge cannon. Rudo's power comes with a caveat: any object he makes into a vital instrument will self-destruct once they have been used up, having fulfilled their purpose. The power of his objects is also limited to whatever scope he had when he thought of them. For example, a box he created to devour a trash beast could only fit that trash beast inside before becoming completely full, as Rudo had only thought of that.
- Giver awakening: As seen from when he encourages Follo, Rudo has the capability to catalyse the awakening of one's Giver abilities by imbuing them with his own Anima. This consumes as much energy as creating one vital instrument.
Objects temporarily used vital instruments[]
- Chains: After Enjin gave him to a bunch of people who attempted to torture Rudo for being a Sphereite, Rudo manage to get his hands on a chains which easily overwhelmed them.
- Toilet plugger: Rudo turned it into a vital instrument during his fight with Zanka. It was still covered in poop so Zanka immediately forfeited out of disgust.
- Gris' lucky charm: It is an amulet that Gris gave to him before Rudo battled Jaber of the Raiders. The object transformed into a gigantic floating, one-eyed structure that floats and follows behind Rudo. It protects Rudo from his enemies by sending them away whenever it detects any hostility.
- Triangular object, teapot, Japanese weather doll (Chapter 23/Episode 8): Rudo's comrades gives him a bunch of a random junk for him to test his powers briefly to turn them into his vital instruments.
- Keyboard: Rudo turned the keyboard into a projectile weapon that shoots the keys he entered after he presses the "enter" button. He used it to destroy a Trash Beast by attacking it with "F*ck you".
- Nail Gun: Rudo turned a nail gun into an uzi which he used to shoot nails at the core of Zodyl's trash beast. When these nails were blocked by Bundus's arms, he concentrated more energy into the gun and made it into a cannon, which was capable of firing gigantic nails that destroyed Bundus's arms and incapacitated him.
- Brush: Using just a few small drops of ink dripping from a brush Remlin gifted him, Rudo created a enormous spike trap by imbuing the ink puddles with energy, impaling a whole pack of trash beasts. Later on, he uses the brush to summon an ink titan that clears another horde of trash beasts and traps Jabber Wonger in itself, though as a result of thinking of Remlin then it ends up looking like her.
- Box: After being passed a box that Kuro couldn't open, Rudo decided to both open the box and save his teammates from the King of Tori trash beast by turning it into a mawed monster that devoured the trash beast in one gulp.
- Net: When fighting against a seemingly dust-formed pack of trash beasts, Rudo enhanced a net to cut up and wrangle the pack, though to no avail as they turned out to be able to reform.
- Hairdryer: In the same fight, Rudo used a hairdryer as a cannon to blow away the swarms of trash beasts, allowing the team to attack its true body.
- Hoodie: The costume August made for Rudo, constructed out of the first few scraps he ever cut as a child. Upon turning it into a vital instrument, Rudo can becoming blisteringly fast, enough to swipe chokers off people and end Mymo's control over them in a blink of an eye. Later on, he uses the fabric to rend Mymo's ascended form and, with the help of Gountess's own Anima, attains a lycanthrope form to fight him, using Gountess's ability to reach into the souls of others to gain this form.
Trivia[]
- Similar to other Cleaners, Rudo has some part of him which references to animals. In Rudo's case, he has parts of his character referencing to the Cereberus, a mythological creature, such as his name "Surebrec" when written backwards results in "Cereberus".
