Ruescott Melshi is a supporting protagonist in Star Wars, being a member of the Rebel Alliance and later Rogue One. Growing up with disdain for the tyrannical Galactic Empire, Melshi was eventually imprisoned on Narkina 5 where he would meet Cassian Andor. The two would become friends as they were part of the same prison unit, and would one day overtake the prison and break free. While Cassian wanted Melshi to come with him, Melshi stated that somebody had to let the galaxy know what was going on in all of the similar prison complexes. By 2 BBY, Melshi and Cassian would reunite as members of the Rebellion, and in 1 BBY both became members of the famous Rogue One squadron, giving their lives during the Battle of Scarif to ensure the Death Star plans were stolen and delivered to rebel hands, ultimately leading to the Empire's destruction.
He was played by actor Duncan Pow.
Personality[]
Melshi was an honest and compassionate man. He hated the endless crimes and atrocities of The Empire and would do everything in his power to see them brought to an end. He makes friends easily and always looks out for them, and fights to help bring freedom and justice back to the galaxy. He cannot sit idly by when injustice is transpiring and he can do something about it, showing a strong moral code and a drive to do the right thing. When the Rebellion began growing and expanding its reach, he was quick to join it, and showcased considerable leadership skills and combat capability, as in just over a year he already reached the rank of Sergeant. He would also follow his heart over orders of his superiors, seen when he joined the formation of Rogue One, and fearlessly took part in the Battle of Scarif despite knowing how overwhelmingly outnumbered they were.
He valued friendship and enjoyed spending time with his friends, and wasn't prejudiced towards others, shown when he treated the droid K-2SO like any other friend and even helped impart knowledge on human nature to him.
