Ryder is the main protagonist of the PAW Patrol franchise.

He is the main protagonist of the TV series (though his role was given to another character in certain segments and sagas), the deuteragonist of PAW Patrol: The Movie and the tritagonist of Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie. He is a 10-year-old human boy, but he is mature to organized everything. His followers are Chase, Marshall, Skye, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma and later, Robo-Dog, Everest, Tracker, Tuck, Ella, Rex, Wild Cat, Liberty, Al, and Coral. Being the leader, when he gets a message about an emergency, he summons the Patrol to The Lookout (which is some kind of spiral slide) and explains the emergency. He summons specific members to do a specific task.

He was unable to fit in any of the pups' vehicles and instructed each puppy to drive a specific vehicle. This was proven in "Pup Pup Boogie", especially when Ryder trained Chase to operate Rubble's digger.

In the series, he is voiced by Owen Mason from Season 1 to 2, Elijah Hammill from Season 2 to 3, Jaxon Mercey from Season 3 to 6, Joey Nijem from Season 6 to 7, Beckett Hipkiss from Season 7 to 8, and Kai Harris since Season 8, who also voiced Catboy since Season 6, in the Canadian and North American versions of the TV series and by John Cambell from Season 1 to 2, Sam Brown in Mid-Season 2 to 6, and Lewis Crabb-LaHei since Season 7 in the British version.

In the first movie, he is voiced by Will Brisbin, and in the second movie, he is voiced by Finn Lee-Epp.

Appearance[]

Ryder has fair skin, gelled-up dark brown hair, and brown eyes. He wears a red, white, yellow, and blue vest, which contains the PAW Patrol logo, that covers a white long-sleeved shirt. He also wears blue jeans and has blue and white shoes. He is not as tall as the adult characters.

During missions, Ryder wears a high-tech jacket that has the same colors as his vest. During an underwater mission, Ryder wears a scuba diving suit that also has the same colors as his vest.

In "Pups and the Ghost Pirate," Ryder wears a knight costume for Halloween. Although different from what Ryder usually wears, the knight costume still contains his life vest, which inflates when Ryder was traveling over the water on his ATV.

Biography[]

PAW Patrol: The Movie[]

Ryder is the deuteragonist of the movie as he shares a complicated relationship with Chase. When Ryder and the pups get a call from Liberty about Mayor Humdinger being elected mayor of Adventure City and asked for their help, Ryder tells the pups to pack their things and says "No city's too big, no pup's too small." While almost everyone gets excited, Ryder catches Chase walking to the elevator as he says that he's not going. Ryder says that they have to go as the others need their help, but Chase says that he's never going back to Adventure City. As Chase leaves, Marshall asked Ryder what's got Chase's leash in a knot. Ryder reveals to the others that Chase had a "history" with Adventure City: When he was a young pup, he was abandoned by his previous owners and the city was so big and he was so small. After sharing Chase's backstory, Skye asked if that's where Ryder found Chase, to which he says "yes", and he brought him back to Adventure Bay.

Afterwards, Ryder meets up with Chase, who was sitting alone by a tree. After Ryder consoles Chase that everything will be fine, he tells him to trust him. After hearing these words, Chase stares at Ryder for a second and reluctantly tells him that he trusts him. After Ryder checks off all the pups, he starts the PAW Patroller and sets off to Adventure City on a road trip.
