Ryo Hazuki

Ryo Hazuki is the main protagonist of the Shenmue video game series by Sega. He is a 18-year old Japanese teenager who lives in Yokosuka, Japan. His mother died of an illness when he was only three years old. His father, Iwao Hazuki was murdered by Lan Di, a leader of a criminal organization called the Chi You Men on his 18th birthday. Ryo swears to avenge his father's death and will take any risk to do so, even if it involves himself getting into trouble.

Ryo is quite skilled at martial arts, Iwao taught him when he was seven years old. His style is Jujitsu, the Hazuki family fighting style. This fighting style is not known by many other martial artists. As the Shenmue series progresses, Ryo will be able to learn new moves from other people.

His primary love interest is Nozomi Harasaki. She is in love with Ryo and confesses; however Ryo is too shy to confess because of an incident during his childhood where he was made fun of for liking a girl and he does not want them involved in his problems caused by his reckless actions when searching for clues about Lan Di.

Ryo is willing to help others when they are in trouble and do the right thing.
