Ryu Asuka is an agent of the International Secret Police who transforms into Spear Ninja Toppa and one of the main protagonists of Sekai Ninja Sen Jiraiya.
He was portrayed by Issei Hirota, who also played Akira in Hikari Sentai Maskman.
Biography[]
Ryu Asuka came to Japan alongside his partner, Rei Yagyu, to investigate the criminal dealings of the Sorcerers Clan. The two soon became allies with Toha Yamaji, who was also fighting them, and would work together with him numerous times.
In episode 10, Ryu, Rei and Toha work together to investigate Lu-Long, a ninja from China involved with drug smuggling, who held a grudge against Ryu for thwarting several of his deals in the past. After Rei became exhausted from overusing her powers to save Toha, Ryu looked after her while she recovered.
In episode 24, Ryu leaves Japan for a new assignment from the International Secret Police.
