Ryunosuke Naruhodo (Japanese: 成歩堂 龍ノ介, Naruhodō Ryūnosuke) is the main protagonist of the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. He is a former English student turned defense attorney. Despite his initial reluctance, he took Kazuma Asogi's place in the lawyer exchange program to London after Kazuma was apparently murdered, with Kazuma's adoptive sister, Susato Mikotoba assisting him with many of his cases.
He was voiced by Hiro Shimono in the Japanese version and Mark Ota in the English localization.
Personality[]
Being Phoenix Wright's ancestor, Ryunosuke shares a lot of traits with him such as valuing other people's lives above their own and being somewhat reckless when they need to protect others, shown when Naruhodo ran after 2 assailants despite knowing the fact they had a gun. Ryunosuke also seems to want others to feel confident in themselves, as when Susato calls herself "a terribly incompetent judicial assistant" Ryunosuke tells her that he is the incompetent one and he never gives up on his clients offering to defend them even when they do not believe in their own innocence. He also shows great loyalty, wanting to find Kazuma's murderer to avenge him and being concerned for Herlock when he collapses in court as well as defending Gina and being willing to make enemies with the government to prove her innocence despite her not being friendly towards him at first.
Unlike Phoenix, Ryunosuke initially never wanted to be a lawyer, but through his work in London, he grew to consider law his calling. He was also shown to be nervous and insecure at first, believing he was just an inferior version of Kazuma carrying on his legacy and had a tendency to get nervous during trials, but after gaining experience in London, he gained more confidence in himself and discovered his own path in being a defense attorney, not doing just to carry on Kazuma's legacy anymore, but to find the truth behind all of the cases he worked in, eventually solving the cold case known as "The Professor Killings", putting an end to "The Reapers Curse" which plagued London for a decade and becoming a hope bringer for Japan's legal system due to his competence, returning to Japan with Susato and her father, Yujin Mikotoba to fix Japan's corrupt legal system.
