S'Byll is a protagonist in the Silver Surfer comics who saved her race, the Skrulls from extinction and restored who they were.

Warlord[]
After the collapse of the Skrull Empire into a devastating civil war and soon after the Skrull race losing their shapeshifting abilities, the Skrulls were facing annihilation by their ancient enemies, the humanoid Kree and their allies the reptilian Badoon. Eventually five warlords emerged as contenders for the position of emperor (or empress) of the Skrulls, and S'Byll was one of them.
To help her cause and the Skrull race, she sent an operative to rescue the Skrull's greatest warrior, the Super-Skrull who was trapped in space without a physical form. Then with the freed and restored Super-Skrull, they tricked the Silver Surfer to help the Skrulls in their conflict with the Kree and Badoon. After two great victories over their enemies, the two of them persuaded the Silver Surfer to use his Power Cosmic to help the Super-Skrull restore the shapeshifting abilities to S'Byll via a genetic machine created by the Skrull scientists.
Empress[]
Not only were her natural Skrullian abilities restored, but she was mutated. Now she could restore the shapeshifting abilities of other Skrulls by touch alone and her shapeshifting abilities were amplified to such an extent that she could fly in space and destroy Kree battlecruisers by herself. Defeating another Kree fleet, she then started to restore the shapeshifting abilities to her people and was proclaimed empress of the Skrulls.
Unfortunately they were then betrayed and her fleet was annihilated, but she survived. With the Silver Surfer they went to the Kree homeworld, penetrated its defenses, and defeated their leader Nenora whom was a renegade Skrull. Revealing this to the Kree, she then bluffed her way to a truce between the Kree and the Skrulls (the former not knowing that she no longer had any fleet and lacked the support of the other Skrull warlords). Afterwards she kept the peace with the Kree and restored the shapeshifting abilities to all of the Skrulls.
Powers and Abilities[]
She has the shapeshifting abilities of the Skrull race amplified to a vast degree. The empress is able to assume an amorphous form that gives her flight in both the atmosphere and space, is able to envelope warship type starships, penetrate their defensive force fields and the ships themselves, is unaffected by energy blasts, and can destroy starships herself. By touch she is able to restore the racial shapeshifting abilities of Skrulls.
