Oh! That's an easy one. I scare people because it's fun. And, you know, it's what I do. Just like you do doctor-y stuff; I do scary stuff. I'm the best at it! I don't really see what else there is about it.

Boo.
~ SCP-2006's inner monologue in "Wade Williams Distribution Presents:".
What I am stating is that your mindset is predicated on the belief that you have successfully contained these 'SCP Objects.' Now, consider this: You have many objects that are contained on the strength of your deception. What if this deception that your organization so prides itself on were not being upheld? What if the Foundation itself is the one being deceived?
~ SCP-2006 genuinely scaring Dr. Wensley in "The Meaning of Fear".

SCP-2006, also known as Too Spooky, is a recurring character in the SCP Foundation series. It is an entity which was obsessed with frightening every person it encountered, using its shapeshifting powers to assume the forms it thought as scary. Despite this, SCP-2006 is a friendly and harmless individual who only tries to scare people for fun and wished to cause no harm to anyone, and because of its low intelligence it is easily fooled by the Foundation personnel into containment.

It plays a minor role in the "Glittering Horizon" series, an antagonistic role in "Black Autumn IV: Nothing to Fear Hub" and is one of the co-protagonist of "The Adventures of Siggy and RoboMonkey Hub" series.

Biography[]

Possible Origins[]

SCP-4606[]

The being that would become known as SCP-2006 was originally called Phobos, who was known to the ancient Greeks as the God of Fear. It and its twin brother Deimos were the children of the Olympians Ares and Aphrodite. Their parents would sometimes fight over due to Phobos and Deimos' recklessness and especially with Phobos' naivety. Phobos' family eventually broke apart, and after Monotheism replaced the Greek/Roman religion, Phobos left Olympus and began scaring people to amuse itself.

In Foundation Custody[]

At some point in time, SCP-2006 was found by the SCP Foundation and contained at Site-118, also known as the SCP Foundation Blackbox and Nomenclative Containment Facility, in Arkansas. Seeing how easy it was to fool it by pretending to be scared the Foundation personnel were able to contain SCP-2006 in an airtight containment cell where it was given extremely low-quality horror or horrific science fiction movies to make it seem like these stuff were most scariest things that terrified people, and was constantly observed to see if or when it changed form. Personnel would visit it in order to reaffirm that it was still being scary, and as it interacted with them it formed a form of friendship between them, especially with the young researcher named Jo Lowe. Because of its bizarre and easy containment plus the fact that besides wanting to scare people it was docile, the personnel argued that SCP-2006 shouldn't be classified as Keter. This led to the site director and phobologist Randall Owings telling his subordinates that although SCP-2006 wasn't powerful, it was still capable of inflicting intense psychological damage to people as if it were to learn about the real horrors that humanity dreaded, like several of their anomalies, it could cause worldwide panic that could destroy society.

On Halloween, when SCP-106 breached containment and escaped into some woods to massacre innocent people celebrating the festivity, Lowe convinced her fellow personnel to use SCP-2006 in recontaining the Old Man. After he killed a group of teenagers, 2006 took the form of a small boy and together with Lowe appeared to 106 to make it appear like they were defenseless mother and son. 106 attempted to melt the boy, but in that moment 2006 got hold of the old man and soon transformed into a monstrous form of the Adonis statue. An alarmed 106 sought to flee back to his pocket-dimension, but 2006 was able to prevent him from escaping and it stared into the actual monster it turned its eyes into maws filled with countless teeth. This proved to be too much for 106 who was left traumatized, allowing the Foundation personnel to quickly arrive and contain him without problem. Lowe and Dr. Louef congratulated 2006 on completing its task smoothly, before convincing it to resume the form of Ro-Man and return to its own containment cell.

While watching horror movies together with Lowe, the young doctor tried to tell 2006 that it didn't need to scare people the usual way and instead it could "scare" people by making them happy which could allow it to meet more people. Unfortunately, she never got around to properly talk to 2006 as the higher-ups, unbeknownst to it, flashed a memetic kill agent to her, killing her instantly which 2006 mistook as her simply fainting due to how scary it was. As days passed after Lowe's body was taken out, 2006 began missing her and the time they spent watching movies together which greatly saddened it. As it had become depressed over the absence of Lowe Dr. Devane interviewed 2006 on what was wrong. 2006 explained how it missed Lowe and wished for her to return, leaving Devane dumfounded.

Possible Endings[]

Black Autumn IV: Nothing to Fear[]

As time went on, 2006 was able to see past the personnel's facade and grew tired of its usual attempts to frighten them which led to it becoming even more extreme and cruel. In 2020, 2006 found itself in the town of Sloth's Pit, Wisconsin and soon began terrorizing the personnel of Site-87, by taking the form of their greatest fears and even outright harming them. Some of its victims included Nina Weiss, Raymond February, Christopher Hastings and Laura Ashbrooke, but when trying to scare Dr. King and Dr. Sinclair the two were able to resist its fear powers, with the former discerning its true identity as SCP-2006 and the latter telling it that it was now trapped and affected by the town's narrative. This enraged 2006 who attempted to kill Sinclair but was prevented by the interference of Alison Carol. This series of attacks eventually culminated in Carol using her powers over the narrative of reality to brutally kill 2006 and ending its reign of terror.

The Adventures of Siggy and RoboMonkey[]

At some point in time, Site-118 experienced some containment breaches that killed nearly all of the personnel. With no one to look after its containment SCP-2006 got out of its cell as well and only found dead humans or aggressive monsters. After months of looking for a way out of the site it came across SCP-239 who had just woken up and was looking for her caretakers. Having spent some time without scaring anyone 2006 decided to scare the little girl from the dark. She became terrified and ran back to her cell and into her bed, covering herself in hopes of hiding from it. 2006 made its way to her cell and assuming the form of a decaying doctor it pulled her covers off and scared her again. She screamed again and soon started crying, causing 2006 to resume its usual form and apologize to her, revealing to her it just wanted to scare and not harm her. As they sat in the cell, 2006 explained to 239 what had transpired and slowly growing fond of the young eight year old reality-bender asked her to join it in getting out of the building. Seeing it as her new friend, she agreed and gave him the name of RoboMonkey and as gratitude for giving it a name 2006 returned her her witch hat that had fallen off her head when she ran away from it the moment they first met.

In the following week the duo scavenged for food, being forced to break vending machines since the food inside the fridges had rotten due to the power outage. As they ate some chips, 239 expressed how she missed her caretaker Lana and wished to be reunited with her, causing 2006 to promise that they would find her and get out of the site together. Suddenly they heard a disturbing cry for help from near the entrance of the cafeteria and figuring that it wasn't human, 2006 told 239 to stay behind while it attempted to scare the creature away. 2006 went to confront an instance of SCP-939 and seeing that it had no eyes, 2006 aborted its plan to scare it off and tried to slowly get away from it. Unfortunately SCP-939 was able to smell and hear it and began making its way to 2006. Not wanting to put 239 in danger 2006 screamed to her to run before it itself ran as it was chased by 939. 2006 quickly dashed into the Archives and hid under a table but soon it was being affected by 939's amnestics that its body produced, causing it to forget about 239 and what was happening moments prior. 239 quickly came to her friend's rescue by illuminating the entire environment, hurting 939. The monster attempted to attack her, breaking her arm, but was driven away by SCP-138, an immortal mummy. He tried to see if 239 was injuried but she told him to help her friend. 138 found 2006 in the archives and seeing that it didn't remember 239 he suspected that it was affected by 939's amnestic.

2006 then went to sleep and in its dream began hearing countless voices. 2006 particularly heard a conversation between Dr. Gears and Dr. Vasilyevich discussing about it and another conversation between Dr. Clef and Dr. Trondeheim discussing about 239. It then woke up to SCP-138 trying to fix 239's broken arm at a campfire. As soon as it woke up the effects of 939's amnestic wore off and remembered what had happened and apologized to 239 for its impulsive behavior. After 138 introduced himself to them he explained to the duo how Site-118 used to be Daedalus' labyrinth and at the paste they were 2006 and 239 would exit the building in approximately six years. 138, under the guise of an ancient Egyptian wizard, taught 239 how to use her powers to manifest any object they required, such as weapons or food, and conjure powerful attacks for defense. However, as 239 was becoming reckless with her new abilities, 138 convinced her that using her powers too much would exhaust her, causing her to feel tired and fall asleep. 138 then introduced to 2006 his companion that would help them get out of the site, Dr. Kaleph Uhlda, who 2006 instantly became terrified of.

Dr. Uhlda explained to 2006 that the Foundation was still present in the site at floor zero in the surface and 239 was one of anomalies planned to be taken to another site. At Uhlda's order 138 gently woke 239 up, and once awake Uhlda told her that Lana was waiting for her with the other personnel. This made her happy and immediately took his hand to get out of the site but as they were leaving, 2006 realized that they were leaving without it. 2006 wanted to go with her, but she told him it was unable to keep her safe as she got hurt when it didn't listen to her to not provoke 939. As Uhlda and 239 left 2006 still attempted to go after them but was prevented by 138. Eventually, 138 revealed to 2006 that Uhlda was actually Clef himself who planned to neutralize 239. With this, the two anomalies decided to go after them, arriving just in time as 239 and Clef were about to go through a teleporter while being pursued by even more instances of 939. Seeing 239's hesitation to leave her friend behind, Clef grabbed her and attempted to make a run for the portal only to be blocked by the voice mimickers. As he fought the monsters, 239 wiggled her way out of Clef's grasp, causing her to fall on her broken arm.

2006 quickly came to her side, and promising to her that this time it would properly protect her it grew in size and began battling the 939 instances. However, as it was distracted fighting off the monsters, Clef killed 138 and with 239 in his arms attempted to go through the teleporter. Luckily, 2006 finished killing all of the 939 instances and despite sustaining heavy injuries it got hold of 239's Egyptian sword and with it stabbed Clef from behind. It demanded Clef to give her back to it and surprisingly he obliged, having grown a soft spot for her as well, and then proceeded to go back to Floor Zero through the teleporter, leaving 2006 alone with an unconscious 239. The moment he teleported away the teleporter broke, most likely destroyed from the other side. 2006 brought 239 to their campfire where she began having a fever. Seeing that her arm was turning purple, 2006 had no choice but to cut it off, a task made easier thanks to 239's power diminishing. After some time, she finally woke up with 2006 besides her. It explained to her what had happened and apologized for cutting her arm. 239 then embraced 2006 and apologized for not trusting it, feeling guilty for trusting Clef instead which led to 138's death and both of them getting injured. 2006 told her that everything was ok and urged her to resume their adventure and find Lana.

Over the course of three years, they continued traversing through the floors and encountering other SCPs like SCP-682 and SCP-049, and as they went from the thirteenth floor to the twelfth 2006 made sure to hide their true nature when they would meet with other people in Greattown, planning to pass by as a janitor with his daughter. As they were about to finally reach the twelfth floor, they came across someone above them telling them to be quiet or their bickering would attract SCP-3199. They obliged but decided to race against each other to Greattown. 239 ended up winning the small race, mostly due to 2006 letting her win, and now that they were in Floor-12 they met the owner of the voice, a former member of the site's security named Alina. She led them to Greattown which turned out to be a magnificent little town with lush greenery, farms and a environment that was nearly identical to the outside world. After entering the town Alina brought them to her home, which turned out to be a cramped office room with barely any furniture, where she revealed that she had figured out they were both SCPs but meant no harm to them since she was able to recognize them as friendly. Alina treated them with food from the communal service but before they could eat they were interrupted by an announcer to start with the Peace prayer.

In that moment 239 recognized the announcer as Lana and told it to 2006 and Alina. Alina explained that Lana had become a sort of leader of Greattown and promised to make an appointment for them. While they waited for Alina 239 and 2006 befriended a local boy named Chancey McMillan who had a crush on the girl. Upon Alina's return she brought them to Lana's home only to discover she had a daughter of her own. When 239 told her who she was, Lana's demeanor changed and became antagonistic, telling her that she never had any connection with or love for her and that she should leave immediately as she would be endangering everyone. This filled 239 with sadness and anger, and although 2006 tried to calm her down and comfort her SCP-1048 reached 239 in her mind and convinced her to destroy Greattown by allowing SCP-3199 and 1048's duplicates to enter and attack.

An explosion occurred in Lana's home as 239 disappeared, leaving 2006 buried beneath the ruble while Lana led all residents of Greattown to fend off the attackers. As the small community slowly crumbled, Alina under Lana's order found 2006 and brought it to the tallest tower so it could speak to 239 who had ascended to the ceiling, overseeing the destruction below her. There they saw 239 torturing Lana after the latter attempted to talk her down in vain, forcing 2006 to scream out at 239, telling her to stop it. Seeing that SCP-1048 was manipulating 239 2006 tried to convince her that 1048 wasn't her friend as it never helped her while on the other hand it itself had always taken care of her the moment they met. This caused 239 to come to her senses and disintegrate the army she helped to build before rendering 1048 a normal teddy bear once again. From this event, 239 was left exhausted and soon fell from the sky and into 2006's arms. However, a furious Clef came to them, and wanting payment for the lives lost today sought to kill both 2006 and 239. 2006 tried to reason with Clef while it attempted to jolt 239 awake, but it was all in vain as Clef prepared to kill them with the same sword he used to kill 138. Thankfully, as he went in for the kill, 239 awoke and immediately teleported both herself and 2006 away. They found themselves in a dark room where 2006 waited for 239 to awake again. After awakening 239 had no recollection of what had transpired and 2006 decided to hide the truth, telling her that they had simply been chased away from Greattown. It then made 239 promise it to never use her powers again and although reluctantly she promised.

Three more years went by as the duo went up through the building, all the while their relationship remained somewhat strained. As they neared the last floor 2006 scavenged for food since it had prohibited 239 from using her powers which was when it encountered Alina again who held it at gunpoint. Luckily she held no grudges and the two conversed, 2006 telling her 239 didn't remember what had happened three years ago and Alina explaining how the survivors were prevented from leaving the site due to the Chaos Insurgency relentlessly attacking them. She told 2006 that they needed 239's power to help turn the tide and Clef was willing to cooperate. 2006 agreed to help but opted to keep their interaction a secret to 239 until they reached floor zero. The next day, 2006 and 239 finally reached floor zero where they reunited with Alina and together went to the Front, an even larger community mostly comprised of the Greattown's survivors. Upon entering, 2006 resumed its human form and departed from the two females to meet with Clef, leaving Alina and Lana to explain to 239 the situation.

As both 2006 and 239 agreed to help with the war, it was escorted by both Clef and Alina to the entrance of a vent that led to the Insurgency's base. The plan for 2006 was to sneak into the vent, attack the Insurgency base by surprise and destroy the Reality Anchor which would allow 239 to use her powers. Although 2006 was reluctant to take lives and leaving 239 alone Clef forced it to march on before both he and Alina trailed it from behind for assistance. After arriving to the other side, 2006 waited before attacking but failed to kill a couple of Insurgents, leaving the job to Clef. The three of them made their way to a metal door that secured the anchor, but soon unprepared Insurgent soldiers began pouring in, forcing it and Alina to take cover and buy Clef enough time for him to unlock the door. 2006 took the form of a massive SCP-1048-C and ran into the soldiers, killing them while Clef finally managed to open the door. As soon as the door opened he deactivated the anchor and blew his horn, signaling 239 to attack. She did so and obliterated the Insurgency's defenses, allowing the Front's forces to swarm in and defeat the Insurgents. Near their victory, Clef confronted the Insurgency's commander, only to be informed by him that the outside world had ended due to some calamity and he and his troops were just surviving. This maddened Clef who killed the commander and began laughing maniacally. 239 who had just joined them attempted to calm him down, but in that moment he used his sword to slash her chest open, causing her to fall to 2006's feet.

2006 immediately came to her side, begging Clef to help her and let her live, offering itself to be killed in her stead. Clef refused and went to turn on the reality anchor so he could prevent 239 from regenerating herself. Alina attempted to stop him, taking Chancey, who had become one of the Front's soldiers, hostage to threaten Clef, only for him to use a nearby Insurgent's firearm to gun her down. As Clef became increasingly more and more mad, 239 begged 2006 to leave her so it could live but it outright refused, having promised her to always be by her side. With Clef ready to kill them both, 2006 fought back, taking the form of SCP-939 to attack Clef. It used its maw to slash at Clef and amnestic to affect his mind, but Clef managed to successfully avoid most its attacks and deliver grievous damage to 2006 using his blade. 2006 then shapeshifted into SCP-3199 and continued to fight Clef who only mocked it. Seeing that Clef wasn't going down, 2006 took the appearance of Clef himself, with him ridiculing it for fearing him. Eventually, Clef got the better of it, slashing its throat, causing 2006 to collapse. Clef got over it and prepared himself to stab his head with his blade.

In that exact moment, 239 used all of the power that was left in her to stop the time around them. Having bought herself some time, 239 slowly but steadily regained her power and made her way to 2006 and Clef to intervene. To her horror, Clef revealed to her he was still conscious since he was a reality sink, making him somewhat immune to reality warping, and attempted to fight back against the time freeze by slowly descending his sword onto 2006. Acting fast, 239 attacked him by throwing fire and kinetic blasts at Clef, slowly destroying his body. Clef endured at first, but was ultimately destroyed. Following his death, 239 unfroze time and went to 2006. Knowing that it was going to die, 2006 asked 239 to bring it outside so it could see her finally reach the outside world just as it promised her. A saddened 239 complied and helped it get up and lean on her and together opened the massive door that separated the site from the outside world. They finally exited Site-118 and marveled at the sky, the mountains and the treeline they hadn't seen for a long time. Sadly, this moment was interrupted by Chancey who held them at gunpoint, blaming 239 for everything bad that had happened to him and his people, and despite her trying to talk him out of it he was determined to kill her. 239 prepared to blast the gun out of his hands, but at the same time the soldiers of both the Front and Insurgency attempted to tackle Chancey down, causing him to shoot 2006 instead who fell together with 239 to the ground and as a result she misdirected the blast, accidentally throwing it at the ceiling and causing a cave-in that separated the Front and Insurgency from the outside once again while she and 2006 remained outside. Regaining her senses 239 went to 2006's side and implored it to not die and leave her. 2006 responded that it would always be with her even after death, telling her to be strong and that it would be waiting for her in the sky before perishing. In the aftermath, 239 buried 2006 in a makeshift grave and went on to live happily within a nearby village, though she would still visit its grave on a monthly basis, telling it of the experiences she had since its passing.

Fall Witness, Part 1[]

When the event known as SCP-6500 began occurring as a result of the SCP Foundation's relentless efforts at containing all anomalies, SCP-2006 was one the many anomalies being neutralized by it.

SCP-8066[]

WIP

Appearance[]

SCP-2006's true appearance was that of a spherical entity 50 centimeters in diameter, its default form it took when not trying to scare anyone. Being a shapeshifter SCP-2006 could change its shape, mass, volume, density, chemical structure, and voice to any form it desired, those being goofy monsters from old classic horror movies, mostly preferring the form of Ro-Man.

Personality[]

SCP-2006: Fear is the best emotion. It’s fun and exciting and makes your [DATA EXPUNGED] pump like [REDACTED]. It’s something Miss Jo and I could share. You wanna know what the worst emotion is?

Dr. D█████: I…
Beat. Yes, I do.

SCP-2006: The emotion where you want somebody to come visit you but you don’t know where they went or if they’re ever coming back.

Dr. D█████: 'Longing'. The word you’re looking for is 'longing', 2006.

SCP-2006: I don’t want to look for it. I don’t want to feel it ever again. It’s horrible and lonely and makes things not scary anymore. I want it to go away until weasels rip its flesh and then never come back.
~ SCP-2006 to Dr. Devane in "Worse Than Fear".

At first not much was shown about SCP-2006's personality. 2006's greatest desire was to simply scare people, being obsessed with taking the forms of various monsters or objects to terrify any person it encountered. However, it appeared to be quite dumb as it failed to realize that the Foundation personnel were just faking being scared and the forms it took were just cheesey and crappy creature designs that didn't frighten anyone anymore. Despite its desire to scare people, 2006 was shown to be affable and friendly as after believing that it was successful in scaring someone it would assure that person that it wouldn't harm them and everything was alright. It was unknown if this behavior was genuine or a facade to give a false sense of security, though it depended on the circumstances.

According to SCP-4606, like its brother 2006 was reckless which angered their parents, but was also too naive and gullible for its own good despite its age, but not as bad as SCP-3740. 2006 was also happy of taking the form of low quality movie monsters to scare people, doing it solely to amuse itself.

In one account, after trying to scare people on Halloween, 2006 found it difficult to do it and soon realized that it had been lied to and began to assume actual frightening forms. As it scared people for real it came across an old decrepit house that scared it and from this experience 2006 learned that concepts like powerful or ugly monsters would inevitably become stale, while the suspense and dread that arose from the fear of the unknown was always present. Because of this 2006 ceased to shapeshift and instead opted to remain immobile until the time came to suddenly strike.

On another account, when relocated to Sloth's Pit, 2006 became increasingly unhinged, tormenting the various Foundation personnel of Site-87 by taking the form of their worst fears and causing chaos and had no problem harming them. It became enraged it as was being affected by the narrative of reality and sought to destroy the town but was prevented by Carol's manipulating the narrative, leaving 2006 to call her a cheater before melting.

Researcher Jo Lowe believed that 2006 didn't actually wish to cause distress in people but rather was trying to make them happy as it probably didn't understand why humans felt fear and when people felt fear their brain activity spiked in a manner similar to blowing a birthday cake as a child or holding their baby for the first time. She even proposed to talk to 2006 on what it actually wanted and how it understood fear hoping to have it help the Foundation. Unfortunately, she was executed by the Foundation for this type of behavior, with 2006 never learning what happened to her. As she never returned, 2006 greatly missed her, wanting to talk and watch movies with her again, while this feeling of longing made things worse as it made things not scary anymore.

Before meeting SCP-239, 2006 was apathetic to the dead personnel and the monsters around it, but after meeting her they formed a bond between them, with 2006 promising her to be reunited with her caretaker and exit the site. The two remained together for several years, during which 2006 continually looked after 239, feeding and healing her and having fun with each other, while making sure to not curse or say other bad words. Although their relationship became somewhat strained after 239 lost control of her powers and nearly destroyed all of Greattown and 2006 making her promise to never use her powers ever again, they still deeply cared for each other, forming a father daughter relationship. Even near the end as 239 was about to die, 2006 was unwilling to leave her behind and did everything in its power to protect her, sacrificing itself to fight Clef. As it died 2006 told 239 that everything was alright, despite the chaos they left behind, and it would always be by her side even after death.

Powers and Abilities[]

SCP-2006's main power was that of shapeshifting. This power appeared to be unlimited as it could easily change its form, mass, volume, density, chemical structure and voice to assume the form it wanted and could still speak even when assuming the form of an object incapable of producing sounds. 2006 also appeared to be durable as the Foundation had failed to find a way to permanently damage it. According to a document of SCP-2305-A, which described a termination attempt of SCP-2006, if it were to be tricked into assuming the form of SCP-2913 and fed to SCP-101, it would emerge out of it by taking the form of a swarm of flies before being inspired to assume the form of a gigantic worm that destroyed the site it contained and terrorized several nearby town until it would be recontained by the combined military effort of both the Foundation and the Global Occult Coalition.
