Aw. Well, it's not Tuesday, so it's not molasses-making time. But it's almost Tuesday, right? You just have to wait a little while, and then I can make molasses for you!
~ SCP-2045 to Dr. Byaruhanga.

SCP-2045, also known as Ambulatory Molasses Generator, is a character in the SCP Foundation series. It is a sapient automaton capable of generating molasses on its own and it mostly does this only to please its creator and the people around it.

Biography[]

SCP-2045 was created by an unidentified female human only known as "Miss". She built SCP-2045, who she named Jeffrey, to produce endless amounts of molasses on Tuesdays. She treated SCP-2045 with kindness, even giving it a kiss after it produced enough molasses. However, one day SCP-2045 was unable to find her, causing it to produce so much molasses that it was eventually completely covered in it. After being covered in 1,324,160,000 kg of molasses and other materials it had absorbed, SCP-2045 stopped producing more molasses as it felt that it wasn't Tuesday anymore and began searching for Miss while carrying all of the molasses it had produced with it as it didn't want all of it to go to waste.

SCP-2045 began moving along with its molasses at a paste of approximately 10 km/yr down the Cascade mountain. The mass of molasses would be discovered by the SCP Foundation on May 6th of 1907 during a flyover of the Cascades to test then-new aerial surveillance technology, but didn't consider it dangerous at first. They eventually changed their minds when on September 3rd of 1989 SCP-2045 left the mountain and began traversing the plateau, accidentally destroying an entire town in the process. During its journey, SCP-2045's molasses absorbed anything that came across it, such as several boulders, dirt, architectural debris, dead trees, a parachute harness, firearms, vehicles and cadavers of various animal species, including humans. Because of the threat posed by the molasses, in 1999 the Foundation undertook an operation to destroy 99% of it using a combination of incendiaries, directed-energy weaponry, and some undisclosed technology. To their surprise they found SCP-2045 at the center still producing molasses at which point a Foundation personnel requested it to stop producing molasses. SCP-2045 complied and asked if it had made enough molasses.

Afterwards, SCP-2045 was properly contained by the Foundation and put inside a standard humanoid-class containment cell where a calendar and a bucket were placed for it to fill with molasses every Tuesday or whenever it felt like it was Tuesday. After filling the bucket a member of staff would tell SCP-2045 that it was enough and replace the filled bucket with an empty one, and would occasionally also give it a kiss for good behavior. During its time under containment, several Foundation personnel, such as doctors Byaruhanga and Lindgren, attempted to question SCP-2045 about the Miss, but because of its low intelligence it was unable to give any detail about her. The Foundation had also made sure that SCP-2045 was far away from SCP-3872.

Appearance[]

SCP-2045 is a humanoid automaton standing 92cm tall and composed of wood, porcelain, cloth, silver, and iron. It possessed a flask-shaped protrusion on its back from which it could produce molasses.

Powers and Abilities[]

SCP-2045 is a sapient automaton composed of various materials and appears to be less of a robot and more of a golem. Thanks to its physiology SCP-2045 was practically immortal and was resistant enough to withstand the pressure of being covered under +1.3-megaton mass of molasses.

Its main anomaly was its power of producing endless amounts of blackstrap molasses out of its body from nothing. SCP-2045 not only could produce molasses but it could also control its motion which allowed it to manipulate it as it wished, managing to move the entirety of the mass covering it with it but at a slow rate.

Personality[]

SCP-2045 is a benevolent being who only wished to make the Miss happy by producing molasses for her to use. It made molasses as it believed that it would make her and other people happy. SCP-2045 also complied to the others' requests and didn't wish to harm anyone. However, it also possessed low intelligence and didn't really understand how things worked as when the Miss disappeared SCP-2045 kept producing molasses because no one was there to tell it to stop and after being covered in molasses it absorbed everything that touched its mass, including animals and people, but it was clear that SCP-2045 was unaware of the life it accidentally took. After being taken into Foundation custody SCP-2045 had a good relationship with personnel, complying with their requests and was willing to answer all of their questions as best it could, but because of its intelligence it didn't really help them.

Trivia[]

  • SCP-2045 as originally written by author Jekeled was just an enormous mass of molasses that moved on its own and absorbed everything on its path before being rewritten into its current form by Voct.
