An escape attempt using a containment breach as cover for its activities. During the event, SCP-2370 appeared to demonstrate knowledge of the anomalous properties of several SCP objects hosted at the same site and appeared to actively assist in recontainment of said objects. Post-breach review showed several negligent behaviours conducted by multiple staff members, all who have been reprimanded for such behaviour.
~ Excerpt from SCP-2370's file describing how he helped in saving the Foundation personnel's lives.

SCP-2370, real name Alexander Sukarno, is a character in the SCP Foundation series. He was originally an employee for the Foundation, but after being involved in a failed experiment involving time-travel he became an SCP contained by the Foundation, and accidentally forming a time-loop in the process.

Biography[]

Not much is known about SCP-2370's past prior to his employment by the SCP Foundation, apart that he was a man of Indonesian and Chinese descent named Alexander Sukarno. He worked for the Foundation as a Containment Specialist, helping with devising the containment of various anomalies. During this time, he worked alongside fellow employee Dr. Myrna Callaghan with whom he fell in love.

While working together, an individual with a disfigured face infiltrated the site and held them at gunpoint. Luckily this individual was captured by the Foundation and contained as SCP-2370 as it was shown that he was capable of limited time-travel. SCP-2370 would attempt to breach containment several times until being afflicted by an illness. Following this discovery, the Foundation extracted the device inside his body, designated SCP-2370-A, and planned to reverse-engineer it in order to use it for their own use.

The project was named Project Vonnegut which resulted in the creation of the device designated SCP-2370-Ω. This device was implanted in Sukarno as he had knowledge in the temporal anomalies' theory and function. After the procedure was over, he was placed within SCP-2400, an infinite plane in which time passed a hundred times faster than normal, in order to test device. However, while there Sukarno found in the Foundation archives in SCP-2400 a document from a previous timeline detailing Callaghan's during a containment breach, but it had been averted thanks to the intervention of SCP-2370.

Realizing that SCP-2370 was his future self, Sukarno decided to go back in time to follow in his future self's footsteps, leaving the Foundation to assume that he had died due to a malfunction. Upon going back to the past he stabed his own face in order to keep his identity secret and using his time-traveling powers, Sukarno stole a guard's keycard and rifle to infiltrate the site and hold Callaghan and his past self at gunpoint in order to keep them both safe. He was later captured by the Foundation and designated SCP-2370. During his time while under containment, Sukarno became involved in three incidents which would've contributed Callaghan's death. In the first one, Sukarno managed to leave his chamber as its electronic lock was malfunctioning and helped in keeping several other anomalies from breaching. In the second incident, he escaped through an air vent and made his way to a faulty generator and replaced it with a backup. In the third incident, Sukarno escaped just in time as the containment breach. He assisted the personnel in containing the anomalies and ensuring Callaghan's safety. Humanoid Specialist Dr. Adileh Khayyam was later assigned to 2370.

Some time after the events, cesium began leaking from his device, poisoning his body. The Foundation tried to cure him through radiogardase treatment, but it proved ineffective. Knowing that he still needed to close the loop, Sukarno surrendered to the Foundation information on how the device worked, designated SCP-2370-EX, and allowed the Foundation to extract the device from his body. Following the device's removal Sukarno was redesignated SCP-2370-N and presumably died afterwards.

Appearance[]

SCP-2370 resembled an Asian man of mixed Chinese and Indonesian descent, measuring 174 cm in height. After going back in time, he mutilated his own face with a knife in order to become unrecognisable and not reveal his true identity to his past self and everyone who knew him.

Personality[]

Not much is known about SCP-2370's true personality. It can be deduced that he was a loyal Foundation employee who did what he was asked and nearly never disobeyed any order. He fell in love with his fellow employee Myrna Callaghan and after accidentally going back in time, the first thing he did was to ensure her safety, either due to her dying in a previous timeline or to ensure the time-loop was completed. Afterwards, 2370 attempted help with numerous incidents that would've have risked innocent lives, despite the Foundation believing he was just trying to escape. Knowing that he was supposed to die so his remains could be used to send his past self back into the past and kickstart the loop, he accepted this fate and helped in reconstructing the device.

Powers and Abilities[]

SCP-2370 was a Foundation Containment Specialist trained in helping with the containment of various anomalies, specifically being an expert in temporal anomalies. After being implanted with SCP-2370-A/Ω which attached to his spinal cord and raised his body temperature by 1.9°C, he gained the power to travel to the near past. He mostly used this capability to create small time-loops in which he would go to his past self and give himself items and information required for the near moment. However, he was unable to use this property extensively as doing so would raise the temperature and cause him hypothermia.

Trivia[]

  • SCP-2370 was inspired by various stories about time-travel such as Steins;Gate and those written by Madeleine L'Engle.
  • SCP-2730 was originally a Class-D personnel designated D-12975 who had been arrested and was used by the Foundation in the project. However, the story was rewritten with 2730 being changed to an actual Foundation personnel.
