SCP-2816-2's only apparent actions were to close the eyes of all the inhabitants of the painting and place tall stone posts next to them; however, other actions may have been performed but obscured by the abstract art style. The second effect appeared 2 days after SCP-2816-2's first appearance, and all the inhabitants were quickly covered by snow, leaving only the posts visible.

SCP-2816-2 is a character in SCP Foundation mythos. They are a mysterious individual in a hazmat suit that appears in copies of other paintings pained by paintbrushes designated SCP-2816. Upon appearing in those paintings, they start preparing the environments and its inhabitants for the incoming nuclear fallouts.

Biography[]

The exact origin of SCP-2816-2 is a complete mystery. What is known is that they are a living character appearing in copies of already existing paintings painted using SCP-2816, a set of radioactive paintbrushes. Everytime a new copy of a painting was made using SCP-2816, SCP-2816-2 appeared after a period of time, ranging from eight days to 38 seconds. Upon first appearing, they would remain unmoving for 24 hours, before becoming active preparing the environment and the present inhabitants for the upcoming nuclear winter, caused by unknown reasons. Five days following the preparations, nuclear winters fell, at which point they would disappear, and depending on the success of SCP-2816-2's efforts, the inhabitants would survive or perish.

The SCP Foundation had somehow gotten hold of SCP-2816 and experimenting with it the personnel discovered SCP-2816-2. Curious to how they would react to famous paintings, the staff began conducting tests with the paintbrushes by recreating several of those paintings.

In the first test in which Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa was replicated, SCP-2816-2 placed a gas mask on the Mona Lisa and boarded up the opening behind her. Soon the sky darkened and snow began falling.

In the second test in which Edward Hopper's Nighthawks was replicated, SCP-2816-2 began stacking canned goods, bottled water, and survival manuals on the counter and placing hazard signs on the exits, while the other inhabitants became distressed. Shortly after SCP-2816-2 finished covering the windows with metal plates, the sky darkened and snow soon fell.

In the third test in which Salvador Dalí's The Persistence of Memory was replicated, SCP-2816-2 just reset all clocks to 12 o'clock, the doomsday clock, before constructing a simple shack at the middle which they filled with food and medical supplies. Soon a nuclear explosion occurred, leaving a massive crater that obstructed the entire painting.

In the fourth test in which Vincent Willem van Gogh's Starry Night was replicated, SCP-2816-2 began boarding up every window of the town and forming a bunker in the foreground, but could only work in one half of the town as the other half was blocked by a brush stroke made by Foundation staff, preventing them from preparing all of the town. Three days later, the sky became blotted by a large smoke cloud from which snow fell. The town's half which SCP-2816-2 was unable to access, suffered from the catastrophe as the windows have been broken in and a couple of people were killed.

In the fifth test in which Pablo Picasso's Guernica was replicated, SCP-2816-2 saw that the people couldn't be saved and simply closed their eyes before placing tall stone posts next to them. Two days later, all of the individuals were covered in snow, leaving the posts the only visible parts that indicated their existence.

Appearance[]

SCP-2816-2 looked like an individual wearing a white Level C HAZMAT suit, completely covering their true appearance.

Personality[]

Most of SCP-2816-2's personality is completely unknown. What can be deduced from their actions, SCP-2816-2 is a selfless and determined individual who wished to help the inhabitants, human and animals, to survive the incoming nuclear winter. After remaining idle for a day, they did everything they could to protect the paintings' inhabitants who would become anxious, reinforcing the buildings to resist the nuclear fallout and placing gas masks to those outside. In cases they were unable to help people, SCP-2816-2 would instead honor them.

Powers and Abilities[]

SCP-2816-2 existed as living character in paintings, being capable of appearing and moving in paintings of various art styles, designated SCP-2816-1. They only appeared in paintings which were copies of a already existing painting created using SCP-2816 which were a set of paintbrushes that emitted harmless amounts of ionizing radiation.

Upon their appearance SCP-2816-2 is shown to be capable of producing safety equipment and survival gear such as fire extinguishers, gas masks, first aid kits, canned food, sealed water bottles, Geiger counters, educational literature on hydroponics and food preservation, maps of arbitrary locales that showed danger zones, and hazard signs. Along with that they would reinforce the present structures by replacing walls with stronger materials, fixing holes or any other damage, boarding up windows, and placing the hazard signs on exits.

They could do so as long as they were unobserved, as if people observed them they would be stopped mid-movement, along with the event playing out. SCP-2816-2 could also be stopped from saving people if SCP-2816 users changed the painting after their appearance, such as making a brush stroke during their preparations.
