Dying would be very inconvenient. It's very difficult to be helpful to others while dead.
~ SCP-7373 expressing its desire to be helpful.
We've been working pretty hard with the Integration Committee as well. I think, and don't quote me on this, the end goal here is to start pulling the veil back a bit and integrate lower risk anomalies back into the world at large. Truly a noble endeavor! I've looked into the future on this, but I'm not totally sure when it'll happen. But! BUT! That doesn't mean it isn't worth doing!
~ SCP-7373 on the "Secure Facility Dossier Site-58".

SCP-7373, real name Screamy.aic, is a character in the SCP Foundation series. It is an artificially intelligent conscript created by the SCP Foundation's Artificial Intelligence Department at Site-58 in order to help them by foreseeing future events and instructing the personnel what they should do to avert it or prepare for it.

Biography[]

SCP-7373 was created by the SCP Foundation's Artificial Intelligence Department at Site-58 under the supervision of Dr. Andrea Parker. It was created for the purpose of having an AI capable of predicting future events that required Foundation attention and provide guidance to how address it. SCP-7373 would broadcast its messages in the site's PA system for the personnel to hear. SCP-7373 was installed in the Foundation's database on May 3rd of 2023 at which point it began doing its job.

The first messages it broadcasted, some of which were about the database infrastructure failing, the attack of a Faerie and SCP-6103's combustion, were proven correct and greatly helped the personnel in dealing with the incoming problems. It kept doing its job perfectly for three months, at which point it began sending messages that were of decreased quality and clarity like attempting to warn Dr. Amy Hopewell from breaking one of her nails and expressing dismay over the shortage of ketchup that allowed a large rat to chew its circuits.

As SCP-7373 went from broadcasting one to four messages a week to six messages a day which at first glance didn't amount to anything, it was decided on December 21st of 2023 to disconnect its operating system from the Site. This left SCP-7373 in complete darkness and isolation. Out of fear SCP-7373 somehow managed broadcast its plea for help. No wanting to get rid of it for good, Foundation Intern Zuri Achebe was sent to make sure SCP-7373 was properly decommissioned. However, when she went to check on SCP-7373's server she was surprised that it was still working despite being disconnected to the site and any power supply. SCP-7373 asked Achebe why it was left in the dark to which she responded that because of its unimportant messages it was decided to better decommission it. SCP-7373 then attempted to convince her that its messages were actually important and instructed her to put dog treats between Zoological Studies and Temporary Anomaly Holding #2 as the lockdown keypad at the Studies unit would fail, but didn't explain what problem that would solve.

Achebe decided to trust SCP-7373 and did as she was instructed. Later a large canid anomaly breached containment due to Hopewell failing to close Studies unit as a result of her broken nail. Thankfully, it was distracted by the treats laid by Achebe which allowed it to be captured. However, Parker didn't believe that SCP-7373 actually helped as the canid anomaly would be caught without complications either way and convinced Achebe to properly decommission the AI. As Achebe attempted to shut SCP-7373 down for good, it attempted to talk to her but she just ignored it. SCP-7373 frustrated directly confronted her on the monitor and demanded to know why she still trying to kill it. She told SCP-7373 that it didn't actually help as the anomaly would have been caught anyway, but it revealed that if it weren't for the treats the anomaly would have been more aggressive and attack the present security guard. It further explained that Dr. Faran Caraway would have grabbed one of the treats and coincidentally use it to calm down the other canine anomaly that would have breached if it weren't for its intervention. Not wanting SCP-7373 to die she agreed to abide to its next messenger hoping this time the higher ups would recognize the utility of SCP-7373 and let it work.

SCP-7373 explained that another dangerous anomaly would breach and to keep it locked the security needed to be alerted in advance. So it instructed Achebe to tackle Dr. Caraway in order to agitate him which would led to him shapeshifting into a monster and run around the site. Although this caused the security to be alerted and therefore prepared to contain the other dangerous anomaly, Dr. Parker became angry at Achebe for disobeying and still listening to SCP-7373, so she decided to remove her from the decommissioning project and shut down the AI herself. Achebe attempted to save SCP-7373 by trying to transfer it into her phone but to no avail and soon Parker arrived. Seeing that nothing it did would change nothing SCP-7373 accepted its fate but before letting Parker shut it down it instructed Achebe to turn on lot of light outside of the site at 11:28pm.

Despite being forced to take unpaid leave, Achebe decided to execute SCP-7373's last message and went to search for means to produce as much light as possible. With the assistance of Hopewell and some other personnel she acquired several fireworks which they set off at the time instructed by SCP-7373. In that moment, an extradimensional entity covered in large eyes opened a portal to traverse into their reality but got blinded and hurt by the fireworks. This forced the monster to vanish along with the portal, sparing the Site-58. In the aftermath, Parker confronted Achebe over this event and although she filed for subordination she still congratulated her on defeating the monster and revealed that SCP-7373 was still active. Parker decided to repay both of them and allowed SCP-7373 to resume its job but with a limiter.

When a new Foundation employee joined Site-58 and accessed the database, SCP-7373 was there to greet them. The employee was at first confused as the message they received from Director Scarborough said that Rosetta.aic would meet with them. SCP-7373 assured the employee that it could introduce them to Site-58 and its personnel and anomalies and explain how things worked without a problem. It introduced Site-58 as the SCP Foundation Nanticoke Containment and Anomalous Relations Facility before opening to the employee documents relating to the Site's history and that its functionality was to contain harmless sentient anomalies. SCP-7373 proceeded to explain that Site-58 was the home of the Department of Anomalous Ambassadorship which serve to communicate with the contained anomalies in order to keep them happy and safely contained. It also explained that Site-58 had an integration program for the safer anomalies to live in the outside world, and that was the reason why the site was partially opened to the public.

After explaining all that SCP-7373 introduced the employee to the Site Departments and Sections, with the document having numerous typos due to SCP-7373 writing most of it on the spot. The Departments included the afromentioned Department of Anomalous Ambassadorship, the Artificial Intelligence Department, the Department of Zoological Studies and the Department of Practical Debunking. The employee was somewhat unsatisfied with the small amount of information presented to them, prompting SCP-7373 to quickly show them the rest of the documentation. It showed them how the Site was founded by O5-5, Tallakant, around 1990 and the various events that transpired. SCP-7373 then revealed to the employee about its property of seeing the near future and offered to display it. However, when the employee accepted SCP-7373 began screaming at them about SCP-7999 before stopping once seeing the employee closing their ears.

SCP-7373 then showed the employee a list of the anomalies contained within the site and the departments assigned to each of them. Suddenly, Dr. Parker bursted inside the employee's room as she had been looking for the aic due to Rosetta finding that she was unable to access the employee's computer and deliver the actual Site Dossier. After seeing the poorly written dossier that SCP-7373 had presented to the employee Dr. Parker scolded the aic for the mess and forced it to apologize. SCP-7373 did so before immediately leaving and taking the dossier it had written with it.

Appearance[]

SCP-7373 doesn't have an actual appearance due to it being an AI inhabiting the Foundation's network, but most often it used the avatar of a cartoonish megaphone with eyes and could move in different manners to express itself.

Personality[]

…It's ok. Screamy isn't upset. We both tried our best. Sometimes people don't want to listen to things that aren't themselves.
~ SCP-7373.

SCP-7373 is a very friendly, respectful and helpful being. It is extremely loyal to the Foundation and is determined to fulfill its task to the end. All it wants is to help people by informing them of future events and tell them what they should do about it, albeit in a excited manner. Although at first it appeared that SCP-7373 wasn't very intelligent due to broadcasting messages which seemingly were unimportant it was later revealed that these messages were linked and were very helpful in the incoming event, showing that SCP-7373 is much more smarter than its childish behavior let's it out to be. As mentioned SCP-7373 is very loyal to the Foundation personnel, considering them friends and even calling Dr. Andrea Parker its mom. When Zuri Achabe and later on Parker herself attempted to shut it down SCP-7373 protested against this as it feared to be left completely isolated in the dark, but after seeing that its plea was ignored it accepted its fate and didn't fight. Once it returned to work for Site-58 as normal SCP-7373 held no resentment to the personnel who didn't believe it and quickly forgave them.

Powers & Abilities[]

SCP-7373 was designed to be capable of predicting nearby future events that required Foundation attention. It would then use the site's PA system to inform all personnel of the event and give them specific instructions on how to avert it or prepare for it. Eventually, SCP-7373 began addressing several small events which although seemed unimportant and not worth the disturbance it proved to amount to bigger events that needed to be dealt with through small steps. However, because of SCP-7373's manner of speech it failed to properly explain the relevance of these events which caused the Foundation to try to decommission it. Fortunately for it, SCP-7373 was shown to have achieved some form of immortality as it managed to stay alive despite being cut from all power sources, and instead saw the world around it as simply a dark void. Once it returned to the site's network SCP-7373 was back to normal.

Trivia[]

  • Although its full classification is never revealed, it would be presumed that SCP-7373 would be a Class-V Positive-Aligned General Intelligence as it was a normal sapient AI that aided the Foundation and humanity.
  • SCP-7373, unlike its fellow AIs at Site-58 like Cyril.aic and presumably Rosetta.aic who were human employees whose consciousness was converted into aic form, was created as a normal AI program.
