Chibiusa Tsukino (Rini in the DiC and Cloverway English versions) is one of the central characters in the Sailor Moon series. She is the daughter of Usagi (Serena in the original English dub) and Mamoru (Darien in the original English dub) from the future. She has the Luna Ball.
She is also a Sailor Guardian, Sailor Chibi Moon. When she first appears, she is a small child from the 30th century who visits the past to seek help from the series' primary heroines, the Sailor Senshi. She later returns a few years older in order to train as a Sailor Guardian herself, Sailor Chibi Moon (Sailor Mini Moon in the Cloverway English dub).
But in the the 20th century, she goes by the name Chibiusa Tsukino (Rini Tsukino in the original English dub). She is given her nickname by Mamoru Chibi in the manga and Usagi in the anime in order to differentiate from the older Usagi Tsukino, Sailor Moon. The nickname is a diminutive of her given name, Usagi (or Serena in the original dub). In her own time period, she is always called Little Lady (or Small Lady).
Chibiusa does not transform into Sailor Chibi Moon in the first movie (as this was before she became a Sailor Scout), but she does in the other two. However, in the third, in which she is the deuteragonist, she is among the children who are taken onto Poupelin's gondola for the wicked Queen Badiane.
In one episode, she got cavities from eating ice cream. She then got scared of visiting Juban Dentistry along with Sailor Moon. Their mom forced them to go there immediately. The episode had her first crying attack while GariGari cleans her and Sailor Moon’s teeth. PallaPalla is the owner of her own dental clinic.
Following the battle with Queen Nehelenia, Chibiusa returns to the future for good and is never seen again.
In the manga, the Amazoness Quartet, who were Queen Nehellenia's minions, were revealed that they were actually meant to be the Sailor Quartet, Sailor Chibi Moon's own Sailor team who were actually brainwashed by Queen Nehellenia. Following the battle, they returned to the future with Chibiusa, but later, the Sailor Quartet and Chibiusa returned to assist the Sailor Senshi during the final battle against Sailor Galaxia.
She is voiced by Kae Araki in the first anime and Misato Fukuen for the Crystal anime in the Japanese version. For the previous English version, she was was voiced by Tracy Hoyt for the DIC dub, and Stephanie Beard for the Cloverway dub. For the current English version by VIZ Media for both the redub of the first anime and Crystal, Chibiusa is voiced by Sandy Fox.
Appearance[]
Chibiusa Tsukino[]
Chibiusa retains the same appearance that she does in the manga: pink hair tied in rabbit ear-shaped odango and red eyes. However, she grows throughout the manga and is much taller by the end. She does not grow in the 90's anime.
In her first appearance in Sailor Moon R, Chibiusa wears a summer version of a school uniform consist of a white short-sleeved sailor uniform with red with a single white linings at the edge of her sleeves and a red front bow at the center of her uniform, blue pleated skirt with a red bow at the back, white socks and white shoes with a red bow on front. Her uniform is red with two white linings attached and another red design with white lining beneath her uniform.
When she discovers Usagi's transformation to Sailor Moon and throughout the end of Season 2, Chibiusa wears a winter version of her uniform which is blue.
In Sailor Moon S, Chibiusa retains her summer school uniform from the second season only both her bow and her back bow is changed to blue and her uniform is white in a red trim and has a pink brooch on her front bow where she can transform into Sailor Chibi Moon.
Her winter school uniform remains the same only her bow on her school uniform is white with red trim.
In Sailor Moon SuperS and onwards, Chibiusa's notable casual outfit is a white long sleeve sailor uniform with a small red bow at the center along with light blue suspenders, a long light blue skirt, white socks and her white shoes with a red bow have red soles. Her uniform and her folded sleeves are white with pink linings.
When Chibiusa and Usagi's ages were swapped by PallaPalla, Chibiusa became a teenager who was as tall as Usagi, but unlike with her transformation into Black Lady, her pigtails didn't grow out the same way, reaching only at her waist and remaining slightly puffy.
Sailor Chibi Moon[]
Sailor Chibi Moon's Sailor suit is coloured bright pink. She has red-and-white barrettes on her bright pink odango pigtails with feather clips and a tiara. Her gloves are white with bright pink ends and cover most of her arms. She wears long pink boots.
Super Sailor Chibi Moon[]
Her uniform almost completely changes. Her collar's two white lines become yellow. Her choker is yellow, with a pink heart. The skirt is the seemingly most changed, becoming white with the border being yellow and pink, plus her belt on her skirt is yellow. She gets the same translucent shoulder pads as Super Sailor Moon, with a bright yellow crescent moon on her tiara. She also keeps her feathers on her head, and has crescent moon earrings. Her bow is long and white.
Small Lady[]
She has her same hair and a pink dress with triangles at the top. The dress has ruffles and has a ray of pearls. Her sleeves are ruffly as well. Like her mother, the crescent moon is on her forehead.
Princess Lady Serenity[]
Chibiusa's physical appearance had matured into adolescence and her hair had grown out to resemble her mother's while retaining her cone shaped odango. She wears a longer version of her younger self's princess dress. In artbook IV, she appeared to have silver hair, though in Artbook V, she appeared with pink hair. It is pink in Sailor Moon Eternal and Sailor Moon Cosmos.
