Lucia of Syracuse was a christian martyr who died during the Diocletianic persecution. She is mostly known as Saint Lucy and has become a patron saint of the blind and martyrs. Nowadays she is celebrated on Saint Lucy's Day on 13th December and is known as the Queen of Light or the Bearer of Light and is said to spread light, happiness and hope in the dark times of Winter.
