Sakuta Azusagawa (梓川 咲太, Azusagawa Sakuta) is the main male protagonist of the light novel and manga series Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai.
He was voiced by Kaito Ishikawa in Japanese and Stephen Fu in English.
Past[]
After waking up one morning (after his sister Kaede suffered spontaneous physical injuries after being bullied online and losing memories), Sakuta's chest was bleeding to the point that he had to be hospitalized. Bored with this situation, he slipped out and went to Shichirigahama Beach, where he met and told his story to a girl named Shoko Makinohara. After asking her why she chose to believe his story, Shoko simply replied that she wanted to spend her life being nicer than before. Moved, Sakuta asked if he could live like her, which she confirmed. After he was released from the hospital, Sakuta gave Kaede a pen and notebook, saying that they would write her name hiragana, referring to her as the current Kaede.
Later, to express compassion to Kaede and prevent further injury, Sakuta tossed his phone into the ocean. His hospitalization later sparked a false rumor that Sakuta had engaged in a brutal act that sent people to the hospital in what has been dubbed a "Hospital Incident".
Personality[]
Sakuta is mostly a socially isolated guy due to his bad reputation after the "Hospital Incident"; he has only two friends, Yuuma Kunimi and Rio Futaba. Nonetheless, he's a very kind, friendly, selfless and helpful person, who gets involved in many cases of the so-called Puberty Syndrome, helping the girls going through it growing out of their issues. Mai, who is very much like him personality-wise, falls in love with him thanks to kind-hearted nature, and starts trusting others again. Sakuta also becomes friends with the other girls who went through the Syndrome, especially Tomoe, who was formerly interested in him. Sakuta is also very sarcastic and likes making jokes with a lecherous subtext; that said, he always remains kind and well-meaning. He wouldn't mind if the world hated him, as long as he has one person on his side.
Appearance[]
Sakuta is a young man of medium height with brown hair, brown eyes and three claw marks running through the chest, which are the result of the maturation syndrome. Sometimes his scars open up in moments of extreme emotion, such as when Kaede Azusagawa was experiencing her maturation syndrome.
His school uniform consists of a white shirt that is covered with a standard light brown jacket; in addition, he wears it unbuttoned, wears a red tie and brown outdoor shoes and blue pants.
