Sally is a supporting character in Black Clover.
She was a former member of the Eye of the Midnight Sun until her betrayal by Patolli, after which she was resurrected by her companion Rades Spirito and briefly allied with the Black Bulls. After her changed alliance, she was convinced by Asta to use her science to help everyone, despite still being feared by the other Black Bulls for her past deeds and questionable morality. She worked for the Magic Tool Research Lab with Makusa North, developing Magic Tools from studying Asta and the other Black Bulls, indifferent to being a prisoner as long as she could do her research. She is currently helping the Clover Kingdom to bring down the Spade Kingdom in the (as of 2021) ongoing Spade Kingdom Raid arc.
She was voiced by Minami Tsuda in the Japanese version, and by Trina Nishimura in the English version.
Personality[]
Sally is a hopelessly energetic and curious individual, unhinged and perceived to be troublesome everywhere she goes. She completely lacks modesty around other people which makes her dreaded by most of the Black Bulls. She is obsessed with her research, and continues to be a perpetual smiler with a manic personality so long as she's able to continue it.
Even as an inmate working on reconstruction and battle preparations, she still retains her vivaciously curious personality. When Asta tells her that he'll forgive her if her research helps people, Sally takes his words seriously and adds uncertainty to whether or not Sally is completely evil. After dying once, she claims to have had "this amazing flash of insight", thanking Rades for reviving her and becoming friends with Asta.
Due to her lack of modesty, she is feared for her enthusiasm and indifference to experiments that are inhumane, such as turning a man into a mud monster unaware of the consequences of her mana enhancing Dark Magic Tool. She no longer performs harmful experiments after dying once, thanks to Asta's wishes, proving to start a heel-faced turn but still remains unhinged. Noelle particularly hates Sally due to her lack of modesty around Asta, and she is not trusted by many Magic Knights, constantly being kept under surveillance. She is now an ally to the Black Bulls though most of them are still scared of her, since she still has as little modesty as a psychopath despite "turning a new leaf."

Eye of the Midnight Sun[]
Royal Capital Assault Arc[]
Sally joined the Eye of the Midnight Sun in exchange for the freedom to experiment. When the organization attacked the Royal Capital, Valtos used Spacial Magic to transport the Magic Knights to a far away land. Sally and other members of the Eye of the Midnight Sun drop in to help out Rades Spirito and Valtos, who are struggling against Asta, Noelle, and Leopold. Before they were defeated, the Magic Knights returned, but failed to prevent them from retreating with a captive Asta. Sally casts Sticky Salamander to save herself and her teammates from Silver Rain cast by Nozel, and traps Asta inside the Sticky Salamander's arm and leaves him trapped in a floating ball of gel. The group reveals their name and their motive to bring the Clover Kingdom to its knees, teleporting away with an unconscious Asta trapped in Sally's bubble.
When the group approaches their hideout, Valtos tells Sally to kill Asta, but she refuses, wanting to use him for research. Asta wakes up sometime after Valtos brings up killing him, and realizes that Sally is completely insane. The group is approached by Julius Novachrono, who instantly kills two of their members and easily binds them all using Chronostasis after they refuse to surrender. The leader of the organization arrives and saves them all from Julius, and the Wizard King admits that their leader's Light Magic is intriguing but troublesome.
The Eye of the Midnight Sun hide in an unknown cave. Sally tells Rades not to kill Asta so she can continue to study him, and ignores his breakdown and leaves him to study a sample of Asta which she managed to obtain.
Eye of the Midnight Sun Encounter Arc[]
Sally hires Baro and Neige to collect mana from a mass abduction of children, but they are defeated by Asta, Gauche Adlai, and Theresa Rapual.
Elf Reincarnation Arc - Prelude[]
Months later, Sally, Valtos, and Rades attack the Black Bulls hideout while only Gauche, Gordon, and Grey were home. Sally refracts Gauche's Mirror Magic attack and reveals that they were ordered not to kill him. Both trios were surprised to see Henry Legolant emerge from the hideout, who knew the hideout better than anyone. Sally is amazed when Henry recombines the hideout into a giant minotaur, and uses her Magic Scorpion to dramatically increase her magic power. Once the Dark Magic Tool injected Sally with a serum that increased her power, Sally manages to create Huge Sticky Salamander. The giant minotaur's Mana Corkscrew attack permeated through the giant salamander made of gel, and Sally increased the fluidity of the Huge Sticky Salamander to topple the minotaur.
Grey transforms the gel creature into plants, allowing Gordon to easily destroy the Huge Sticky Salamander with Poison Magic. With Sally defeated and Rades helpless with Michael Caesal destroyed, Valtos returns with the Magic Stone and reveals that they had succeeded in their mission and should retreat. The Black Bulls hadn't realized that they only came for the Magic Stone, and would soon pay the price.
Elf Reincarnation Arc[]
Instead of the praise and safety they were promised, Sally, Rades, and Valtos were sacrificed at the sephira where Licht placed the final Magic Stone, revealing his hatred of humans and plan to betray them and commit genocide. Sally is saddened that she is about to die, as she burns in a pillar of light and loses all of her mana to be used to reincarnate the elves. Licht was actually Patolli, and the elves were killed by humans 500 years ago, with Patolli (unknowingly) chosen by a greater evil to settle the score with humans and cause mass murder and destruction upon their kind. The magic stones mysteriously granted Patolli the power to reincarnate all the elves into their human bodies, with all of them becoming as genocidal as him.
Filled with the desire to take revenge on Licht, Rades used Soul Abductor to resurrect himself, as well as Sally and Valtos. After Valtos teleports them to the Black Bulls' hideout, Rades offers to assist the Black Bulls since they now share a common enemy, but Asta refuses since they're fighting to protect the kingdom while Rades is just obsessed with vengeance. Asta lariats him and demands that he make up for what he's done, until he decides to talk with Sally and Valtos. When Valtos states that he's remorseful for what he did and must atone for his crimes, Rades becomes frustrated and confirms if Sally wants revenge on Licht. Sally then explains that all she wants is to be able to do her experiments without limitations and that she only allied with Licht because he promised her freedom from the Magic Knights' jusitce. Asta then offers the same deal with Sally, allowing her to study his body as much as she wants once she helps them save the kingdom, but under the condition that she performs research for the sake of others and doesn't cause anyone harm, further explaining that she would be happy to be supported for her discoveries for the first time. Sally says that she's confused, but eagerly asks if she'll be able to experiment if she agrees, and Asta replies affirmatively. Rades feels betrayed by the two's willingness to change sides, and decides to tag along out of spite.
The Black Bulls' base arrives at the Royal Capital, with Sally appearing more excited than her two companions inside the minotaur. Luck, Magna, and Gordon supply their Lightning, Fire, and Poison magic to the cannons on the transformed hideout, while Vanessa Enoteca manipulates the fate of every attack to miss using Rouge. When all seemed lost for the elves, the elf named Reve, possessing the body of the Coral Peacocks captain, Dorothy Unsworth, flies above the minotaur head of the transformed hideout, and casts a large spell that transports the top portion of the base into her Glamour World.
Sally is amazed by the glamour of her surroundings, an endless scape ruled only by Reve's imagination, which spells bad news for Luck, Magna, Vanessa, and Charmy. After Vanessa's Red String of Fate saves them all from being eaten by a monstrous artiodactyl, Sally admires the little red cat, and then cheerfully expresses her desire to research the two witches. Charmy makes Vanessa eat her cooking to replenish the latter's mana so that her cat doesn't fade away, and Sally positively compares Charmy's magic to the two witches, asking if she happens to be a witch. Charmy affably responds that she's just a mage who likes to cook and eat. Magna and Luck shoot elemental bullets of Fire Magic and Lightning Magic at Reve, who effortlessly shields herself with Earth Magic and Water Magic. Sally is amazed once again at her power, and Magna becomes frustrated that they haven't managed to attack her. Luck agrees that he's excited by the fight, Sally says that Magna's magic is boring, and Magna is further agitated. Witnessing the chemistry of absolute evasion and an inexaustible mana supply from Vanessa and Charmy, Reve thinks of an everflowing puddle of water with bladed fish in it that she thinks will surely kill them.
Addressing Luck as Lightning Boy, Sally asks Luck to attack the water with Lightning Magic. Luck assures that he won't be able to destroy the massive body of water, but Sally ushers him to give it all he's got and not to worry. Addressing Magna as Fire Protozoan, she orders him to fire where Luck's thunderbolt attack landed, which results in an explosion via electrolysis of water. Sally explains what just happend, and reasons that whatever Reve creates follows the same properties as it would in real-life, and that she can't manipulate the properties of anything in the dreamscape, including objects she creates, and spells. Her third and final observation is that she's still going to be insanely tough to beat, as Vanessa and Magna become frustrated that Reve shielded herself from the explosion and is seemingly untouchable. The group of five suddenly experience drowsiness, and Sally complains in her head that her vision was already blurry enough without her glasses. Her thoughts gives her a spark of inspiration to make Reve think about glasses by watching Sally immitate glasses with her hands and asking her what she's pretending to be wearing. Sally answers her own question by shouting "Glasses", and Magna and Vanessa become shocked when glasses materialize in front of Sally. Sally then asks what this place needs, and answers her own question by repeating the word "exit" really fast.
Sally finally earns Magna's approval when countless exit doors appear around the dreamscape, mortifying Reve. While Reve is momentarily shocked, the team combine their magic powers to form a cotton raft towed by Luck towards one of the exits, which is chained away by Reve. Magna immediately loses the hope he just gained, and Luck suggests that they trick Reve into thinking about her human counterpart, Dorothy Unsworth, so she can materialize, and asks Sally how to make that possible since the same trick won't work on her twice. Sally reasons that auditory cues won't make her imagine stuff in her head if she's concentrating hard enough, orchestrates a combination of her teammates' magic powers to form a visual cue. Sally has Magna use Timed Explosion Scattershot to create a smokescreen, which will fade away to unveil a cotton creatoin resembling Dorothy Unsworth, made by Charmy using Cotton Magic and supported by Vanessa using Thread Magic. Sally and Luck laugh at how she instinctively thought about Dorothy since she was unexpectedly reminded of her, and Dorothy Unsworth appears and reassures the five of them that their brilliant strategy will work. They are shocked to see how peppy she is when she's not asleep like she normally is 24/7.
The five are amazed that Dorothy is powerful enough to challenge her elf form, which is supposed to be stronger. The Glamour World apparently cannot withstand the power of two vivid imaginations, and Dorothy, Reve, Sally, Luck, Magna, Charmy, and Vanessa fall from where they initially disappeared. Sally watches Magna and Luck hit Reve with Flame-Lightning Explosive Cannon, finishing the fight before they hit the ground. Charmy cushions their fall from the sky using Cotton Creation Magic, where they find that Gauche and Marie were both turned back to their human forms, as the fake Dorothy fades away. Asta uses the Demon-Destroyer Sword to revert Reve back into Dorothy. Sally holds Charmy up as she feeds Marie her cooking which replenishes her mana, and Gauche threatens to kill Sally for being near his little sister.
With their battle with Reve ending at the same time and place where Asta, Gordon, Grey, and Henry turned Gauche and Marie back into humans, Zora spotted the reuinion in front of the Shadow Palace while on a broom with Noelle as passenger. Noelle pushes Zora off the broom and falls on Asta herself, falsely claiming that it was an accident. Charmy feeds everyone, including Kirsch and Mimosa, with her mana recovery consumables. After Mimosa finishes healing Asta with her magic, Sally tells Asta to take care of his body since he promised it to her.
Noelle is angry and flustered seeing Sally wearing Asta's clothes, and asks why "one of our worst enemies" deserves his best wishes. Mimosa and Noelle are flabbergasted when Sally cuddles with Asta, telling the two girls that Asta promised her that she could do whatever she wanted to Asta's body if she helped them defend the capital. Mimosa and Noelle comedically freak out while Asta is mortified, assuring the two that he didn't say that, while Sally continues to make Asta uncomfortable, saying that it was close enough to what he said. In shock, Mimosa pleas for Sally to stop cuddling Asta so she can heal him, and Sally brings up that she already finished healing Asta. Noelle throws her bowl of food at Asta in a fit of rage at what she's witnessing, and Magna brings the altercation to an end, pointing out that the hole in front of the Shadow Palace is getting smaller. Magna vouches for Asta to go with the Captains to fight the final boss, Kirsch tells Mimosa to go with them since she's a healer, and Solid surprisingly tells Noelle that she's stronger than him and that she should go too. Sally stays behind to help fight the possessed Golden Dawn members.
Spade Kingdom Prep Arc[]
After the situation with the elves was dealt with, Sally and other convicts worked on rebuilding the Royal Capital. Sally became excited to hear that Asta had also become a convict, in hopes that he'll join them and become her toy. On the day of Asta's trial, she is seen talking with Rades, seemingly unchanged by having to do labor, while Rades is furious at having to do labors and scolds Valtos for wanting to do it. Jack the Ripper addresses them all as villains before he interrupts their talking, and Gueldre retorts that Jack is "the most violent one here". Jack then attacks Gueldre, Revchi, and Rades for threatening him and order them to get back to work.
Sally was asked to join the Magic Tool Research Lab to create an item that will boost the Clover Kingdom's strength after Julius Novachrono was impressed by her knowledge. She was brought to the Black Bulls base, accompanied by Marx Francois, where she would collect data necessary to create a tool that amplifies mana. Asta and Noelle are introduced to Makusa North, a specially appointed researcher at the Magic Tool Research Lab, and Sally, Marx, and Makusa would have a conversation with Asta and Noelle back inside the base. After Makusa explains the favor the Wizard King asked of Sally, she expresses her desire to experiment on Asta and Noelle. Asta takes off her shirt and assures Sally that he gave her his word after she saved his friends; Sally is pleased but insists on studying him last, since the tool she's experimenting amplifies mana and Asta doesn't have any. Instead, she desires to experiment on Noelle first, but is given a prompt refusal. Marx asks where the rest of the Black Bulls are, and Asta tells them that they were on duty but should be about to come back. Asta notices his teammates at the door, but they all decide to leave upon seeing Sally. Marx reminded her that she needs his permission to experiment other Magic Knights, and Sally lets him know that the Wizard King is at the front of the room. When they all look, Sally floods the room with gel and escapes.
Sally surveys their property on Sticky Salamander's head, and spots Magna. The Sticky Salamander grabs him, putting him in the position to test whether or not the mana enhancement works properly. Magna tells Sally to put him down, but she reasons that since the experiment is to develop a tool that will make him stronger, he should cooperate. Sally injects the Sticky Salamander with the serum, and watches as Magna's mana increases exponentially until he explodes. Sally wonders why the formula failed, and writes her findings. Next, she tests Gauche and Grey simultaneously, since the two of them use Combination Magic. Later, she lures Vanessa into grabbing a precious liquor, and finds Finral trying to convince Vanessa that its a trap laid by Sally. After she uses food to lure Charmy into a trap that confines her in a gel bubble, Asta arrives to bring an end to Sally's rampage.
Instead of the gruesome experiments Asta expected of the lunatic, all she does is cut some of his hair and becomes content. Although Noelle is relieved, she still feels resentment towards Sally for being allowed to be touchy with Asta to serve her interests as she pleases. Asta tells Sally that he's willing to endure anything if her experiments will help others, a statement that makes her stare at him in amazement at his idea. When Sally prepares to depart from her stay that afternoon, Finral forgives Sally since her experiments will help people, and Charmy, Vanessa, and Grey nod in agreement. Magna and Gauche still remain hostile towards Sally. Nero does not express any opinion of Sally, and Luck and Captain Yami are not present. Before she leaves, Sally feels happy, but doesn't understand why, thinking about whether what Asta said about research that helps people will be a better passion. Asta waves and wishes Sally good luck, saying that he'll see her soon. Sally tells Asta she hopes he's right about that, and runs through Finral's portal.

- Sally does not do anything evil following her revival, claiming to see the world in a different light. She inadvertently convinces Rades to come with her and Valtos to help the Black Bulls protect the Royal Capital.
- Helps save Vanessa, Magna, Charmy, and Luck from dying in the Glamour World controlled by Reve's imagination.
- Assists in rebuilding the Royal Capital, though this was mainly done for atonement.
- Creates Magic Tools for the Clover Kingdom's forces to use to fight the Spade Kingdom, including camouflage robes and mana enhancing items. Asta and a few other Black Bulls have accepted Sally for this.
- Keeps her promise to Asta about not harming anyone, and appears somewhat conscious about causing people distress. Asta gives Sally his best wishes for this.
- Helps fight the possessed Golden Dawn while accompanying the Magic Knights in protecting the Royal Capital.
- Helps safely escort citizens away from the Devils' using multiple Sticky Salamanders to safety within Makusa's hidden space.
